INT. HIGH SCHOOL HALLWAY - DAY

JANIE, a sickly-looking, unkempt teenager walks down the hallway, staring blankly in front of her. She stops as three girls step in front of her, cutting her off.

The girls reek of money. Their bracelets alone cost more than Janie's entire wardrobe. They leer down at the poorer girl with confidence.

RICH GIRL #1
Hey, Janie.

Janie smiles weakly, her gaze roaming around the hall instead of remaining on the girls.

RICH GIRL #2
(contemptuously)
Jesus, what a freak. Seriously, who dresses you, a blind hobo?

The girls titter as Janie looks down.

The trio pushes past her, knocking her shoulder slightly as they do.
