10. The Festival (Parte Uno)
// Gabriel
[cue depressing music]
Today was the worst day of his life. Sam was leaving him. So was Jessica but he didn't care much about her. So ahem, Sam was leaving him.
He was too arrive early at their school to board the bus with his theatre class and the g/t class to drive all the was to...
The Renaissance Festival.
Gabriel barely got any sleep. The thought of spending an entire school day alone. Without Sam...it was terrifying. Sure, he spent most of his days at his old school alone and helpless but this was different.
He was different.
He had Sam!
And now he was being abandoned.
And sure you could say, "Aw don't worry. You two had plans and can hang out after school later." But no. No! They had plans. But Jessica so kindly reminded Sam that they had a biology project or something to work on wiTHOUT GABRIEL.

So here he was: hair tied into a messy bun at the top of his head, sunglasses on even though it was 7:45 a.m. and the sky was still a dark blue, holding a venti mocha frappuccino in his hands and wearing the second biggest hoodie he could find.
He woke up earlier than his family and left the house, hoping to bid Sam his farewells. He did however walk ten blocks to Starbucks then fifteen blocks back past his house and to school. Which meant he was probably late and Sam had already left.
Gabriel sighed and pulled the straw out of his cup, licking off the whipped cream and chocolate syrup. To be honest, it was getting pretty hot in the hoodie and all the walking made it worse. Oh well, it was cold out and he wasn't going to die of frostbite because he wanted to see that stupid moose.
To his surprise, the bus was parked in front of the school. Gabriel walked beside it and saw the driver playing some game on his phone. There was no one in the bus.
Gabriel took a sip of his coffee and quickly made his way inside the school, the sudden warmth making him feel a little better. There were a few students sitting on the floor, talking or on their phones. More were leaning against walls and around the corner. Gabriel took another sip and walked through them, thankful that no one was really paying attention to him.
He realized that keeping his sunglasses on was a mistake after he had crashed into the same corner about three times. Now he had gotten everyones attention. Great.
He pulled the sleeves of his hoodie over his hands and held the cup closer to him, trying to control his embarrassment. A few people were quietly snickering. He cleared his throat and moved the sunglasses to rest on the top of his head. Now that the hall wasn't so dark, he could see people clearer. And he finally found Sam.
He was sitting on the floor with a group of people he didn't know- minus Jess. He knew her. Gabriel smiled widely and made his way towards him.
God, he looked so dorky with those glasses. But it was cute. As he walked towards him, he couldn't help but think that he should have bought Sam something from Starbucks as well...he looked exhausted.
The group laughed at something on someones phone and Gabriel noticed Jessica had scooted a closer to Sam. She was not that close when Gabriel last checked.
"Hey, Sammantha." Gabriel waved at him with his sweater paw.
The group looked up at him. The people who didn't know him looked extremely confused. Jessica moved away from Sam slightly and Sam smiled widely.
"Gabriel?" He said, sitting up a little better. "What are you doing here?"
"Just thought I'd say my goodbyes, since you are leaving me alone all day." Gabriel replied, dramatically placing the back of his hand on his forehead, batting his eyes.
Sam chuckled and stood up. "I'll meet you guys on the bus, Jess, save me a seat." He said, pulling his bag over his shoulder and stepping out of their circle.
"Uh, sure..." Jessica mumbled and continued looking at her own phone.
Gabriel smiled widely and wrapped his sweater-covered arm around Sam's dragging them to a different part of the hall to sit quietly.
"Nice hair." Sam laughed once they sat down. Gabriel pouted and took a sip of his coffee.
"Shut up. I was in a hurry." He crossed his legs and hunched over his sunglasses falling back onto his nose.
Sam only laughed harder. "You're hair is just a tad bit short for this kind of bun, it's falling out everywhere. Let me help?"
Gabriel sighed and untied his hair, pulling off his sunglasses and placing them in the pocket of his hoodie. He handed Sam the hair tie and waited patiently.
Sam scooted over so he was in front of him and began grabbing the front of his hair. He continued to build it until he made a small ponytail at the very front of Gabriel's head. Like a unicorn.
"You've got to be kidding me." Gabriel said checking himself out on the reflection of his phone. "This is better than my bun? Sam I'm gonna have to fire you."
"I'm not done." Sam said. "I just need another hair tie." He dug through his bag and pulled out another one. And he made a small bun at the top of Gabriel's head.
This ^^ lmao
Gabriel looked at his reflection again and smiled.
"Okay this it better. Thank you, Sammantha." He said, blowing a kiss in Sam's direction.
"No problem, now pay up." Sam said. Gabriel laughed sarcastically. "Excuse me? I don't think so."
"I'll take that coffee."
Gabriel pursed his lips and narrowed his eyes at him. He looked at his reflection once more before sighing.
"Fine, here." He said taking one last sip before handing it to Sam.
Sam smiled happily and pulled the straw out, licking off the whipped cream like Gabriel had done a while ago.
"So," Gabriel began. "Why do you have hair ties in your bag?" He waggled his eyebrows.
"I occasionally put my hair into a ponytail or bun. Occasionally."
Gabriel smiled mischievously, waggling his eyebrows even more. "This is an occasion."
"No."
"Aw come on Sam! Please? Please? Please ?" Gabriel pleaded.
"No."
"You can't just do this to me, Sam! You're leaving me for the entire day and you've decided to be responsible and work on your project with Jessica when he had plans!" Gabriel ranted. "I don't think that's very fair. I thought you loved me, Sam!"
"Ugh, fine! Calm down." Sam put the coffee down and dug through his bag some more. He pulled out two hair ties and tied his hair into a bun like Gabriel's.
Hehe
Gabriel squeaked and quickly snapped a photo. He set it as his wallpaper and took a sip of his ex-coffee.
"Awesome!"
Sam rolled his eyes but smiled anyway. He removed his glasses and began cleaning them with his shirt. Gabriel smiled at him and ended up making eye contact with Jessica. He awkwardly waved and she did the same.
"So...this is your theater class?" He asked looking back at Sam.
"Uh yeah. Well not all of them. Some are from the g/t program like Jessica."
Gabriel nodded waved his sweater paws around. "Has Dean said anything about Cas?"
Sam looked at him. "I mean he spends most of his time talking about how guilty he feels but I don't think he's doing that stupid dare anymore. I mean he doesn't need to, I have glasses already."
"That reminds me." Gabriel took a sip from his ex-frappuccino. "Why do you need glasses? You didn't have them when I met you."
"Well Crowley broke my old pair. And when I was in like middle school, I was in a car ride with Dean and I was sticking my head out the window like an idiot and some trash or dust flew into my eyes. It cut the iris in my left eye and I don't remember what it did to my right eye but my vision got pretty trippy afterwards."
"Hmmm. Well I like your glasses. They make you look dorkier than you already are." Gabriel said seriously.
Sam laughed loudly and shoved him a little.
"Sam, it's time to go."
The boys looked up at Jessica who was extending a hand towards Sam. Somehow Gabriel managed to interlock his pinky with Sam's from inside his sweater paw.
Sam quickly glanced at him and smiled. "I have to leave." He took Jessica's hand and let her help him up. Their pinky's separated and Gabriel slowly watched him walk away.
"I'll see you tomorrow?"
Gabriel slowly nodded and stood up. He quickly hugged Sam and gave him his blessing. Jessica waited and walked closely to Sam towards the buses. He sighed and looked down at the floor. He picked up the frappuccino and took a sad sip.
The frappuccino. Sam forgot his frappuccino!
Gabriel's eyes lit up and he went running after them, pulling his sunglasses on. When he reached outside, he saw the bus driver speaking to the principal. Gabriel took the opportunity to sneak inside the bus and look for Sam.
"Hey, sweet cheeks. You lost?" Someone called. The guy sitting next to him gave him a high five while others began to wolf-whistle at Gabriel. It was then he realized that he did kinda look like a girl this morning. Eh whatever, he had those days.
He ignored them and continued looking for Sam, not bothering to take his sunglasses off.
I should probably mention that Gabriel has those circle lensed sunglasses. They're all black and have gold handle thingies but the ends are black. Like mine- idk I just imagined him wearing these.
"Come sit here, baby." Another guy said, patting his lap. More whistling and laughing. Someone reached out to touch his butt and Gabriel lost it.
"Are you fucking kidding me right now?!" He yelled, yanking off his sunglasses and glaring at the group of guys, specifically the one who just attempted to grope him.
They went quiet. Their eyes seemed so wide they would explode.
"Listen here, you fucking pieces of shit, I will not hesitate to kick your fucking ass, so do not try doing that again. Am I clear?"
They quickly nodded and turned away, their faces red with embarrassment. Gabriel smirked and put his sunglasses in his pocket. He looked around before finally spotting Sam in the back at the window seat. Jessica was sitting next to him, typing away at her phone.
"Sam!" He squealed and ran towards him. Sam looked up in surprise and all of a sudden Gabriel was squeezed in between him and Jess.
"Gabriel? What are you doing here?" Sam asked. "The bus is about to leave!"
"You forgot your coffee." He pouted, handing it to him.
"Gabriel, it's a little tight here. And you really shouldn't be here." Jessica started when someone clapped their hands together loudly, catching everyone's attention.
"Alright." The theater teacher began talking. "I'm going to take roll."
She began reading names off the list. Gabriel put on his sunglasses, pulled on his hoodie and tugged on the strings so it closed around his face, the only things visible were his nose, sunglasses and the bun poking out at the front.
"Steven?"
"Here!"
"Gabriel, you need to go." Jessica and Sam said. Gabriel placed a finger to both their lips to shush them.
"Jessica?"
"Here."
Gabriel prayed he wouldn't be noticed.
"Fabiola?"
"Here."
"Richard."
No one said a word.
"No Richard?"
Gabriel knew what he had to do,
"H-here!" He said, slowly raising his hand. The teacher nodded and marked off the name.
"You can't just do that!" Jessica scolded. Gabriel shrugged and blew a kiss in her direction.
"Sam?"
"Here!"
"Okay, that's it." She finished. "Now I'm gonna have to ask you to sit two to a seat." She eyed the trio sitting in the pack. "Come on, Jessica. Sit with Stacy."
"B-But- " she protested and then groaned. She grabbed her stuff and sat two seats in front of them.
Gabriel bit the inside of his cheek and sighed. He hoped Sam wasn't angry at him. When he turned to look, he had already made himself comfy on Gabriel's shoulder, scrolling through his phone.
He smiled and snapped another photo of them.
Looks like this is gonna be a two parter
