On the final day, Josh and Jenna enter the palace hall for the contest.

"Oh Josh dearest, I can't believe you've been with us three whole days already! It's been such a treat!"

Josh smiled gratefully at Jenna.

"Now, the princes are arriving to sing for Prince Tyler so he can finally choose his bride! You just stand here with Carlotta while the royalty mingles. It's sure to be quite a show!"

Mark enters, followed by Prince Tyler.

"Welcome dear friends to our contest! The first that our kingdom has ever seen. We gather today for a vocal display, so our prince may at last choose a king!"

As Mark calls the gathering to order, opportunistic princes parade in, escorted by groomed sailors. Josh is crushed.

"These six princes possess the most accomplished voices in the land!"

He turns to the princes.

"Tonight, one of you will join Prince Tyler on the throne. May the best man win!"

One by one, the princes step forward to sing.

Don't I sound rich?

(Prince 3)
Loud am I not?

(Prince 4)
Plus I've got perfect pitch

(Prince 5)
Wouldn't you think I'm the boy

(Prince 6)
The boy who has everything?

(Princes 1, 2, 3)
Everything?

(Princes 4, 5, 6)
Everything?

"Surely one of these lovely voices matches the music in your heart." Mark said.

"I wish I could say yes!" Prince Tyler replied, unconvinced and disheartened. "but he's not here."

Aware that this is his last chance, Josh forces his way into the center of the hall.

"Josh?"

Jenna looks at him, hopeful.

"Oh dear one."

"For heaven's sake child-"

"Quiet Mark. Prince Tyler told him. Go ahead Josh!"

Josh takes a deep breath. It looks as if he's about to attempt a note. But instead, Josh executes a few of the dance steps Prince Tyler taught him two nights earlier. The princes laugh.

Josh looks to Prince Tyler, helpless, then runs into Jenna's arms.

"Oh child! Poor lost child!"

"I had so hoped, dear Tyler, that you might find love somewhere in this room."

Prince Tyler smiles.

"I have Mark. I've just been to blind to see it, until now. Come here Josh."

Prince Tyler takes a knee.

Suddenly, waffling in the breeze, Halsey has unleashed Josh's true voice yet again.

"Can it be? Another contestant?"

Prince Tyler jumps up.

"That's the voice!"

Josh looks at him, panicked.

"But-But tell him the competition is over. I've already made my choice."

Josh beams. Prince Tyler takes his hand.

Just then, the sun sets. The lyrical voice morphs into a sinister rattle.

(Halsey)
Ah ah
Ah ah
AH!

"Why look! Such a gorgeous sunset! And on the third day too! Time's up! You lose!"

Now turning back into a merman, Josh begins to stumble and gasp for air.

"Josh, what's wrong?"

A magic force pulls Josh into the ocean. Ryan follows him.

"Oh no! The worst is happening! I've got to get help!"

"Josh!"

"My heavens!" Mark cried.

"He's jumped into the sea! I have to go after him!"

Prince Tyler dashed off to his ship and everyone scatters and exits.

Back in Atlantica, King Bill Dun enters the ruins of Josh's grotto.

"Josh?! I haven't seen you for three days and, I'm worried. I thought you might be here. Josh? I've-I've come to apologize."

Ryan and Brendon enter.

"Most merciful Dun-"

"Where have you been Ryan!" King Bill Dun shouted. And where is Josh?"

"Oh, he'd be so angry if he knew I was here-"

"I entrust my youngest son to you, and what happens? He disappears! I ought to have you cracked and shelled!"

"He almost was your greatness." Ryan said.

"What kind of tragedy will it take-"

Ryan cowers, barely squeaking his words out.

"A tragedy involving the sea witch."

"What?!"

"Don't be a guppy. Don't be a guppy." Brendon said to himself. Then he turns to King Bill Dun.

"You see, your majesty, these two slippery eels cane and took Josh to Halsey, and he traded his voice for a pair of legs-"

"He bartered away his voice to become human?!"

"Yes." Ryan added. "And now that child has given up his very soul."

King Bill Dun looks up, hopeless.

"Oh Josh! What have you done??"

He looks at Ryan and Brendon with resolve.

"Come, we just save my son!"

King Bill Dun, Ryan, and Brendon dash off to Halsey's lair.
