~14: Ursula's deceit and a mega-storm~

Athena

Athena stood, glaring. "What are you doing here Ursula?" She spat. She cackled. "I'm here to watch my niece get married!" Athena narrowed her eyes as Ursula pouted. "Is that such a bad thing?"

"Neice!?" Eric shouted. Athena heard Adella placate him, while Ariel stood in front. "Ursula, I've not broken any deal! I stuck to it! You can't ruin this again!" She shouted. Athena winced at the unsteadiness. "Frog in ya throat, deary?" Athena sneered. "Ursula, she has no idea about the deal! This is an issue with me, and only me."

"Not really. It concerns your daughter, so technically, it involves the both of you," Ursula smirked. "Ah yes, I forgot you ran on technicalities, rather than terms and conditions." She snapped back. Ursula laughed deeply. "Well, has princey boy said I do yet?" Athena didn't answer. "Ah. Judging by the silence, I'm guessing not. Well, looks like I'm just in time!" Athena flinched back as one of Ursula's tentacles shot forward and wrapped around the young prince.

"Ursula! Let him go!" She snapped. "I don't think I will... see, this deal could very much swing to my advantage, should it have the right circumstances," Ursula crooned. Athena watched in horror as she tightened her hold, turning the prince's face red. "No!" Ariel shouted, launching forwards. Attina grabbed Ariel's arms, making Athena thankful her eldest was such a quick thinker. "However!" Ursula released her hold. Eric gasped. "I might be willing to... should we say, chat through the problems, hm?"

One look at Ariel's tear-stricken face solidified Athena's decision. "Whatever you want Ursula... just... don't hurt her..." Ursula snickered. "In case your legs have somehow worsened your vision, my darling sister-in-law, it's not your daughter I'm holding,"

"No, but by hurting him, you hurt her,"

Ariel

Ariel wriggled in Attina's grip. "Ariel, stop! We don't need you getting caught as well!" She hissed. "Get off of me! He needs my help!" She cried, twisting her arm. "Ariel, what use are you to him if you're caught as well, huh? Think!" Attina snapped. Ariel paused. Then sagged. "It's my fault," She whispered. "If only I hadn't gone to her, stupid, stupid, stupid!" She hissed, smacking herself.

"Ariel... look..." She glanced up, expecting to see Ursula grinning sadistically as she held her beloved. She didn't expect her father to be there... fuming.

"Daddy?" She whispered to herself. "Ursula, let him go. He has nothing to do with this... deal of yours," Ariel shuddered, tears blooming from her eyes. She felt Attina move her hands further up her arms, to her shoulders.

With her dad going fin-to-fin with Ursula, there was no way she was getting involved... or anywhere near. The last time they interacted was fifteen years ago, shortly before Alisa died, back in 1833. It was so bad, it caused a deadly tsunami. Ariel scanned Eric's face, desperately trying to see if he was alive. His eyes were shut, and his face was pale. Ursula's tentacle was moving around his arms and legs. Ariel's heart dropped. She didn't kill him... Ursula's not that stupid... she wouldn't try the luck of her father. Despite him hating humans, Ariel knew he'd come down on her side against his evil sister... she was the reason her grandfather was dead.

Ursula's loud cackle rang strong. "You think I won't try to weigh the deal so it falls in my favour? Then you truly don't know me, brother."

"You'd go as far as killing an innocent to get your way?"

"You wouldn't?" Ursula countered. Ariel screamed as her tentacle tightened around his ribs. The sky darkened and the ship began to rock. "Ariel, whatever you're doing, stop!"

Triton

Triton met the worried gaze of his wife. "Athena, are you ok? Are the girls?" He asked. Ursula cackled loudly. "We're fine." His wife answered, glaring at the sea witch. "What deal has even been struck with you, witch?" He spat. Ursula laughed deeply. "Well, which one, brother? There have been two," Triton resisted the urge to roll his eyes. "Either,"

"Well, your poor love-struck daughter wanted to be with her prince, because you took away her legs, you heathen," She began. The trident began to glow, reflecting its owner's steadily raising anger. "So, I gave her the legs... if she gave me her voice... it's not a fair deal if she could win him within moments, I had to even it out, ya know?" Triton sneered. "Do not speak to me as though we are friends," He spat.

Ursula rolled her eyes. "Anyway. What I didn't account for was the little tramp making him write down who she was so she'd win quicker," Ursula's face curled into a sneer. Triton barely bit back a smug face. His daughter wasn't completely naive then. "So, to even it out further, I paid them a little visit... where your wife signed a new deal, invalidating the first one. For your daughter to marry the prince in exchange for her legs and voice,"

"I don't see the problem then. Nothing was broken or violated, why are you here?" He snapped. Ursula shrugged. "I decided to... update the terms and conditions." Triton heard Athena scoff. "So you broke the deal." She said. Ursula glared and wound her tentacle tighter around the young prince. Triton spun his head in shock as Ariel let out the loudest scream he'd heard.

The sky began to darken rapidly and the boat began to rock. Triton gripped the trident tightly. "What are you doing, witch?" He hissed. The trident lit up a brilliant yellow, charged for its first strike. "Nothing. It's that tramp!" Ursula spat. Triton scanned the boat. His daughters had varying expressions of horror on their faces as Ariel continued to wail loudly, her hair spinning wildly.

The winds sped up and waves crashed against the wooden boat. It was then Triton knew Ariel had lost control.

Attina

Attina stepped back, tripping over her heeled shoes and landing on the deck hard. "Dad!" Alana shouted. Attina shook her head, trying to clear the shock. Ariel was bringing forth a storm so strong, Attina could feel its pull, deep within her soul... pain and sorrow. This was a grief-brought storm, much like her mother had brought when Alisa died.

"Ariel! You have to calm down!" Attina shouted, clawing to her feet. Ariel fell to her knees, screaming and crying as her fiery red hair spun uncontrollably. "Mom! You have to stop her!" Attina shouted. "Triton!" Her mom shouted. Attina watched as her father nodded and threw the trident over. Ursula, too distracted by the sudden storm, missed it. Attina gasped loudly as her mom thrust the trident deep into Ursula's body.

She dropped the prince with a loud screech. Attina crawled on the floor, desperately trying to reach the prince. If she could prove to Ariel that he was alive, the storm would stop. "Alana! Get the priest! Adella, the maid, Aquata, the man! the rest of you, get off!" She shouted over the howling winds. Her younger sisters nodded. Arista and Andrina jumped over the side, their dresses floating around their mermaid-clad forms.

Attina finally reached the prince and grabbed his hand. Her mom and dad viciously fought Ursula, who was screeching and howling.

"Eric, you've gotta wake up! You've gotta breathe!" Never in her life did Attina think she would be begging for a human to wake up... but here she was. "Attina! Get Ariel off! It's too strong for her! Only we can stop it now," Her mom yelled. Attina glanced at the sky, horrified by the slowly forming cyclone. "ERIC!" She yelled, smacking him in the face. He jumped, "What!?" Attina stood up and grabbed his hand. "I'll explain later, but you need to get Ariel! Tell her you're ok! Now!"

Attina shoved him over, kicking off her shoes, ready to grab them both and swim. The others managed to coax the priest, maid and wirey guy into the water and were slowly swimming away to shore. "Ariel! It's me! I'm ok!" She heard him shout as he grabbed her face. Attina sighed as Ariel opened her eyes, sobbing as she flung her arms around his neck. She ran over. "Listen, hug later, we need to go," She said. "Can you swim?" She asked the prince. "Um... yeah,"

Attina rolled her eyes when suddenly- "ATTINA! WATCH OUT!"

She gasped. "JUMP!" She screamed as a lightning bolt hit the wooden deck.

Ariel/Attina/Athena pov... you'll see what I mean.

Ariel woke up on something gritty and rough. She groaned softly as she opened her eyes. The sky was blue, and the waves gently lapped against her bare feet. She sat up, rubbing her head. "Hey, I'm glad you're ok," She turned to the voice. "Attina... what happened?" She asked. Attina's tail twitched on the sand, unfamiliar with the feel. "Well... you and Eric were just about to say I do but Ursula decided to intervene..." Ariel looked down. "He's dead isn't he?" She asked softly.

Attina frowned. "Uh... no? He's over there with mom," Ariel spun to find him. She sighed deeply. "Oh good... but why am I on the sand... and you a mermaid?" Attina snorted. "You caused a storm so big, mom and dad needed to use the trident to bring it back under control," Ariel blushed. "Oh..."

Attina nodded. "Oh..." She echoed. She twisted to look at her mom, nodding. "Ariel, mom wants you. I'll come as well, but I'll swim it," Attina scotched back into the water, swimming slowly as Ariel stumbled over to their mom. She grabbed her mom's hand, helping her onto a rock. Ariel flung her arms around the prince, dropping to the ground with him, sobbing loudly.

Attina sighed at her mom. "There's no way after all of that dad's not gonna let her stay... is there?" Athena sighed softly. "I honestly don't know... Your father hates humans, but he loves his kids more... so I don't know."

Attina sighed heavily. "I really... really hope he lets her stay... otherwise all of this would've been for nothing."

Athena sighed heavily as well. "So do I, my love... so do I,"
