Natsu

"Would you like some tea, Natsu?" Lucy asked.

"No, I would not."

"Good. Here you go."

Natsu watched helplessly as Lucy poured imaginary tea into the teacup in front of him. To his right was Gonzalez, to his left was Plue, and across from him were Lucy and Loke. He had somehow been forced into this unfortunate scenario of a "fun tea party." However, he couldn't bring himself to leave, as the smile Lucy had on her face made it all worth it.

"Natsu, aren't you cold? Maybe I can give you something to wear."

"No!" As soon as Natsu saw Lucy head towards her doll clothes, he knew she would put him in something ugly and sparkly. "Please, I'm good. Let's just enjoy this tea party. Without me wearing any of your doll's clothes."

However, Lucy didn't seem to understand Bird, as the upper half of her body was still submerged in her toy box.

"I found it!"

Sighing as heavily as a bird could, Natsu got ready to suck it up so Lucy wouldn't be too sad, but was very surprised when he saw what was in Lucy's hand.

"This scarf came from a doll I lost a long time ago," Lucy told Natsu as she ran over to him. "It was a red dragon, but I couldn't find it since a long time ago. I think it'll look good on you, though."

Natsu just stared at the scarf, which was white with thin black stripes, as Lucy tenderly wrapped it around his neck. It looked so similar to the scarf Natsu had received from his dad; in fact, there was a chance he wouldn't be able to tell the two apart if they were the same size.

"It looks great on you! See?" Lucy held up a hand mirror in front of Natsu so he could see his reflection. The scarf of the neck did look great on him, even when he was a bird. It appeared that he was good at wearing scarves that looked like the one Lucy and his dad had given him.

"Now, let's continue our tea party!"

Before Natsu could respond, Lucy picked him up and placed him back in his seat. Across from him, the Loke doll seemed to be smirking at him, which Natsu quickly dismissed right away; that was impossible. Then again, he was currently a bird.

Suddenly, Lucy placed a tray of cookies down on the table in front of Natsu.

"Ms. Spetto brou--"

Natsu didn't bother listening to the rest of Lucy's sentence and flew to the cookies right away. He tried to eat one, but it was too big and kept slipping out of his beak.

Lucy giggled as she sat back down in her seat. "Silly Natsu. Did you forget you're a bird? I'll break them for you."

With tears in his eyes, Natsu looked up at the goddess in front of him. The way the light shone in her chocolate brown eyes as she broke the chocolate cookies into small pieces. . . . As soon as Lucy finished and pushed the plate towards him, Natsu was about to dive in, when he realized that Lucy probably wouldn't be able to eat if he had first dibs.

He eventually forced himself to step back away from the cookies and look up at Lucy. "Do you want one, too?" Natsu pointed his right wing down to the cookies, then up to Lucy's smiling face.

"Thank you, Natsu, but you can ea--"

Natsu immediately dug in.

Lucy laughed. "You must really love to eat." She had her chin in her hands while she watched Natsu. "I bet you're the type of bird that would sneak into people's houses and steal their food from their refrigerator."

Huh. That was actually a really smart idea. Natsu would have to try that once.

"Natsu . . ."

Natsu stopped eating to look up at Lucy, as she had sounded like she wanted to say something important. There was an obvious sparkle in her eye as she leaned forward to ask Natsu a question that made him forget about his cookies.

"Do you believe in magic?"

Lucy

Lucy leaned back in her seat after she had whispered the question and grabbed Plue.

"Father always said there was no such thing as magic, but I think he's wrong," she said, as she remembered her father yelling at her about magic being fake and a mere source of entertainment for the uneducated. "Mommy always seemed to believe in magic. She used to tell me all my dolls had magic in them, so she'll be able to know if I'm doing something bad." Lucy smiled as she remembered her mother saying it to her with a mischievous smile on her face.

Natsu made his way over to Lucy's side, butting his head against Lucy's arm softly. However, the impact was still strong enough for Natsu to spin around, dizzy.

Lucy laughed out loud. "You know what?" she said teasingly to him. "I think you used to be a real person but you did something bad so you're a bird."

At this, Natsu went crazy. He flew into the air, crying out loudly, making Lucy wonder if what she had said could possibly be true. If she thought about it, Natsu seemed to understand whatever Lucy said, and he acted like a real human sometimes.

"Really? You're really a human?" Lucy jumped up with delight.

Natsu landed on her head, giving a satisfied cry.

"Then what happened to you?" Lucy reached up and brought Natsu down. "How did you become a bird? How do you turn back into a human? What's your real name? Does your mommy and daddy know what happened to you? When did this happen to you?"

Lucy bombarded Natsu, the bird that was actually a human, with endless questions, until it looked like Natsu had quit paying attention since a long time ago. However, this didn't deter Lucy in the slightest.

"In a book I read once, a prince was turned into a frog, but after a princess kissed him, he turned back into a human." Lucy suddenly gasped out loud. "Will the same thing happen to you if I kiss you?" she asked with excitement. Lucy brought Natsu closer to her face, but he suddenly flew back, towards the wall away from her. In fact, he flew towards the window that was open for some reason, and flew out.

Huh? Lucy ran to the window as she saw Natsu fly away. However, he was heading down, towards their garden. If Lucy was quick, she could catch up to him before he could fly away. She didn't know why Natsu was acting like that, but she couldn't let Natsu just leave like that, regardless. He was her only friend, whether he was a bird or a human.

Lucy quickly raced to the door so she could go to the garden, but stopped in her tracks when she saw the figure standing in front of her.

"F-father?"
