SEPTEMBER 1ST. PLATFORM . Katelyn has been to the platform plenty of times. For the last five years, she's been coming with her mother's side of the family to send off her oldest cousin, Kai. Then two years into the five, her second oldest cousin, Rebekah, was being sent off. Then last year, her third oldest cousin, Killian, was being sent off as well.

Now it was her turn. Her mother stood by her side, muttering to the Katelyn's owl.

The creature was pure black with eyes that matched Katelyn's. On the stomach, there were three white spots shaped in a triangle.

Midnight was a magnificent and beautiful creature.

People gave Camilla weird looks, but Katelyn and the other Royal's barely batted an eye. The women in the family could speak to animals, their brains already programmed with thousands of different languages that the animals speak.

"Are you ready?" Her cousin, Rebekah, asked, looking at Katelyn curiously. She was stone-faced otherwise. Rebekah didn't show emotion other than hatred, anger, and annoyance around people. Well, unless she was alone with Katelyn and their friend, Kathryn.

"Yeah, I am," Katelyn grinned.

Kai had disappeared the second they got on the platform to join his friends. Kai had been put in Gryffindor even though from first glance, someone would think he was a Slytherin. He was stupidly brave and far too reckless for his own good.

Rebekah had been put in Ravenclaw. She was witty and very intelligent. And she's super creative. If you needed someone to make something—anything—, she was definitely your girl.

Then there was Killian who was in Slytherin. He had big goals and the ambition to match them. He was cunning and quick. He and Rebekah made a good team.

"Katelyn."

Rebekah gave her cousin a curt nod before saying goodbye to the family and boarding the train to find her friends. Katelyn turned toward Eliza who pulled her away with Camilla right behind.

"Remember what we told you?" Eliza asked her niece quietly.

She nodded. "Watch over Harry and make sure that he doesn't get killed," Katelyn replied, stuffing her hands in her pockets.

Poppy snickered while the two older women gave her a look.

"He'll be fine," Katelyn promised, "I'll watch him."

Camilla and Eliza had put Katelyn in a primary muggle school with Harry Potter when she came of age.

Eliza and Camilla were both Harry's godmothers', but Albus Dumbledore had given Harry to Lily's sister (which Lily had specifically said not to do if she and James were to ever die).

Ever since he was given away, Camilla and Eliza have been building a case to earn back custody of him.

"Harry and I will be fine," Katelyn grinned at her mother and aunt.

"Alright," Camilla sighed, wrapping her arm around her daughter and kissing her forehead. "You two need to stay out of trouble. You were both almost expelled three times last year," she said seriously, giving her daughter a pleading look.

Katelyn can only smile at her mother. Wherever Katelyn Royal and Harry Potter go, trouble is drawn to them like a magnet. Half of the stuff that happened last year wasn't even their faults.

Camilla sighed heavily.

Eliza hugged Katelyn once Camilla pulled away. "You're going to do great, mitica," Eliza whispered into her ear. Katelyn tightened her arms around the woman and nodded into her shoulder.

They pulled away after a moment and Katelyn turned toward Poppy. The younger girl had tears in her eyes as she buried her face in Katelyn's chest.

"It's just a year, sunflower," Katelyn told her gently, hugging her back tightly. "We'll see each other soon, I promise."

Poppy was a grade younger. She had been enrolled in the same school as Harry and Katelyn had. The three of them were almost always together. Now, she and Harry were gone, and Poppy was going to be by herself.

"I don't want you to go," Poppy cried.

Katelyn sighed and pulled back. She took Poppy's face in her hands and wiped away her tears. "Farai grandi cose. Manderò lettere ogni settimana. Promesso," she spoke quietly and sincerely. [You're gona do great. I'm gonna send letters every week. I promise.]

Poppy only cried harder. Katelyn pulled her back in, hugging her. She rested her head on top of the younger girls. She brushed her fingers through her hair, murmuring things to try and calm the girl down.

Soon enough, it was time to board the train and Katelyn had to say her goodbyes.

She said goodbye to everyone but her father who hadn't bothered to show up.

But she had her mother and Eliza and Poppy. They were her family.

"ARE YOU, LIKE, 100% YOU AREN'T GAY?" Vincent Chase, a halfblood and one of Katelyn's best friends since birth, asked.

Katelyn scoffed and shook her head continuing to read the book in her lap.

"Vincent, what the fuck, man?" Kathryn Humphrey, another one of Katelyn's best friends and a halfblood, groaned shooting Vincent a dirty look.

Vincent was a good-looking boy. He had messy black hair and tan skin. He was half-mexican, half-swedish. He had silvery eyes and a small scar on his bottom lip.

Kathryn was a good-looking girl. She had long brown hair and pale skin. She was Scottish. She had beautiful hazel eyes.

The three of them were the same age while everyone else in their friend group was either younger or older.

"What?" Vincent argued, confused as he threw his hands up in exasperation. "You say you're straight, but—"

Together, Katelyn and Vincent both say, "—denial is not just a river in Egypt." Vincent snaps and points at Katelyn while giving Katie a 'see' look.

Katie gives Katelyn a look of betrayal. "Kal!" She exclaims.

"I'm sorry, love, but it's true!" Katelyn yelped, dodging the Daily Prophet that was thrown at her head.

"Look, look, look," Vincent intervened, smacking Katie's hand away when she tried to yank Katelyn's collar. "It's just, we see the way you look at Bekah, is all."

"Ugh," Katie said, snatching Katelyn's book and the blonde just sighed, letting it happen. "Shut up, Vince. I don't look at her in anyway."

Katelyn raised her hands in surrender, shaking her head when Vincent gave her a 'help me' look.

Katie opened up Katelyn's book and began to read.

"Fine, this conversation is on pause," Vincent sighed dramatically and turned toward Katelyn who cocked an eyebrow at him. "You've been talking with Flint and Snape, right?"

Katelyn nodded.

"What are they saying?"

Katie closed the book, wanting to know as well.

"If I'm put in Slytherin, Marcus and I are paired as captains. Co-captains," Katelyn explains with a shrug, like it was no big deal.

Vincent and Katie glanced at each other and rolled their eyes.

"That's amazing!" Katie said.

"Bloody brilliant!" Vincent agreed, shaking Katelyn's arm.

Katelyn blushed and brushed him off. "It's no big deal, guys."

"Oh, please, shut up," Katie said with a sharp glare, "you'll be the first seeker and youngest captain for centuries! That's a huge accomplishment."

Katelyn bit her lip and then smiled widely. "I know," she whispered before she frowned, "but it's because of my father. He's the one who invited them to watch me."

"But you were the one who convinced them," Vincent murmured, wrapping his arm around his best friend.

Katelyn grimaced. "It still feels like cheating," she admitted, "I mean, Marcus is terrified of my dad!"

"But Snape isn't," Katie brought up, "and Snape has the final word. Your father was told this."

Katelyn sighed. It still felt wrong.

"Hey," Katie grabbed her hand a squeezed it, "your father may have control over a lot of things in your life, but he doesn't have control over your skills. And you're bloody good at quidditch!"

Katelyn smiled and leaned over, pressing a kiss against her cheek. "You're right," she nodded, feeling better.

She was pretty much born on a broom. She could fly before she could walk. Her whole family are Quidditch players minus her father and her uncle Sirius.

Eliza played Chaser while Regulus played Seeker for the Slytherin team. Camilla was the Slytherin keeper. Killian played as a chaser now alongside Katelyn's other cousin on her dad's side, Theodore Black-Burke.

For Gryffindor, her uncle Frederico and her uncle-in-law Luca were beaters. Now, Kai played as a chaser on the Gryffindor team.

In Ravenclaw, her aunt Aria was a chaser. Rebekah now played as a chaser, taking after her mother.

For Hufflepuff, her aunt-in-law Veronica was a seeker, and her uncle-in-law Buck was a beater.

"I'm hungry," Katie said, standing up and stretching her arms up toward the roof.

"I'll come with," Katelyn said.

"Get me a Chocolate Frog and a blue Acid Pop," Vincent piped up, pulling out his journal (it's a diary) and opening it up to a new page.

Katelyn rolled her eyes and followed after Katie as they left the compartment.

They walked down the corridors, pushing their way through other first year students who were excited out of their mind.

"Why can't Vincent get off my back about the gay thing?" Katie asked quietly, turning to look at Katelyn over her shoulder.

"It's Vincent. He has no love-life, so he butts his way into ours," Katelyn replied.

Katie rolled her eyes. "That's not an excuse. It's fucking annoying," she said bitterly.

Katelyn brushed past her and began walking backward as she talked to the girl. "Are you really mad?" She asked. She knew it was annoying, but she didn't think it really bothered Katie that bad.

"Yeah, Kal!" Katie exclaimed and then glared at some first years who looked over at them. "It's bloody annoying! It's taking everything in me not to just punch him."

"I'd love to see that."

"Niko, seriously."

"Sorry, sorry." Katelyn turned around as they arrived at the trolley. Madam Melanie, the trolley lady, was stopped outside a compartment, helping out some other first years. "I'll tell him to shove off, alright? Promise," Katelyn said sincerely, looking at her friend and raising her pinkie.

Katie smiled and linked their pinkies, beginning their handshake. They turned their hands, making a heart then kept their pointer fingers together as their other fingers closed in a fist. Then they flicked out their middle fingers to create a shotgun finger gun and used the thumb to shoot, making a 'pew' sound effect.

They ended the handshake by bringing their shotgun to their lips and blowing it off.

"Honestly, I think Vincent is just pushing his problems on you. We see how he looks at Joey," Katelyn said jokingly and Katie snorted, nodding in agreement. "You know, whenever he gets angry, he starts yelling at me in Spanish like I don't understand it," she rolled her eyes.

Katie scoffed, giggling. "Can I have a Sour Strips and a butterscotch?" She asked Madam Melanie who nodded and began to try and find the candy.

"And some candyfloss, watermelon strips, a chocolate frog, and a blue acid pop, please, Madam," Katelyn said.

"Excuse me, we were being served first," butt in a girl from the compartment. It seemed that there were three other people in there.

Katie raised an eyebrow and then shrugged. Katelyn shrugged as well. They hadn't been ordering when Katie had asked. The girl made a noise of offense, crossing her arms.

"Here you go darlings," Madam Melanie said with a smile, handing them their treats. Katelyn grinned and grabbed a couple gold coins out of her pocket while Katie took the goods.

"How was your summer, Madam?" Katelyn asked as she gave the woman the coins.

Melanie smiled, "it was good! I got to see my grandkids."

"That's great! How are they? I miss those two little angels," Katelyn chuckled. Melanie's grandchildren were like mini-Fred and George Weasley's. But they were good kids and would hopefully keep Poppy company this year.

"Well, they got your presents. They loved them. Wouldn't stop riding them around the house," Melanie said with a smile.

"Good," Katelyn smiled back.

"I'm starting to think you just know everyone."

Katelyn fumbled with a coin, surprised at the familiar voice. Katie watched with confusion and amusement at her friend's struggle.

"Hermione," Katelyn cleared her throat, shooting the girl a smile. Hermione was already dressed in her robes and uniform which suited her very much.

"Hey, Katelyn," Hermione smiled back. The witches in her compartment began to tell Madam Melanie what they wanted.

Katie raised an eyebrow. 'And they were saying I was gay', she thought with a roll of her eyes. "Hi," Katie said, shoving the candies into Katelyn's chest. Her best friend grunted and fumbled with the acid pop that fell but caught it in the end. "I'm Katie Humphrey," she stuck her hand out for the curly-haired brunette.

"Hermione Granger. It's a pleasure to meet you," the bushy-haired girl said as she shook Katie's hand.

"Have a good year at school, dear," Madam Melanie suddenly said, patting Katelyn's cheek affectionately, "stay outta trouble. Your mother doesn't need any more scares." Then she trots away, rolling the trolley.

"Have a good year," Katelyn calls after her before turning to Hermione and Katie. "What?" She demands when all they do is stare at her.

It is quite a sight. Katelyn Royal with a messy ponytail, a gray t-shirt, a black pair of jeans, and with an arm full of candies.

Hermione and Katie exchange a look then burst out laughing.

Katelyn rolls her eyes.

"You guys took forever," Vincent complains when they enter the compartment again.

"Oh, shut up," Katie said, tossing his chocolate frog and acid pop at his face.

"Ouch!"

"You will not believe who Katelyn and I just ran into."

"Katie, please, don't—"

"Spill!"

"So, we were getting candy from the trolley—"

"Cazzo, inferno."

THEY ARRIVE AT HOGWARTS AT nightfall. The doors open and everyone spills out. As soon as they do, a loud voice is calling for first years.

Rubeus Hagrid.

"Come on now. Hurry up. Come on!" He calls, his large form visible over all the moving students. Vincent, Katie, and Katelyn quickly join the slowly forming group of first years. "Hi, Harry," the half-giant says to the boy.

"Hey, Hagrid," Harry grins back.

Hagrid looks over the students and points his light at Katelyn, almost blinding her. "Hiya there, Katelyn," he says.

"Evening, Hagrid," Katelyn greets back with a small wave. Hermione appears at her other side and gives her a look. Katelyn shrugged.

"Katelyn?" Harry questions, looking confused, relieved, and excited as he sees his best friend. A beam pulls at his lips.

Katelyn beamed back. "Harry!" She hugs him quickly when he opens his arms.

"I didn't realize you were on the train," Harry says when they pull away.

"Mum wanted it to be a surprise," Katelyn smirked. Then she poked the middle part of his glasses in confusion. "What happened to these?" They were completely fixed while the last time she saw them, they had a piece of tape holding them together.

"Oh, Hermione fixed them for me," Harry said, pulling the glasses off and showing Katelyn more closely. "They look brand new!"

Katelyn grinned at him.

"Right then. This way to the boats! Come on now. Follow me," Hagrid called, beginning to lead the way toward the boats.

Katelyn fell back into step with Katie and Hermione as Harry went with Ronald Weasley. The redhead had been giving her dirty looks since the moment Hagrid said her name.

She can only imagine what horror stories Ron is telling Harry.

Her father was a dick to Arthur and Molly Weasley. He believed them to be 'blood-traitors' and laughed at the fact they were poorer than most purebloods. And because of that, Ron hated her from the moment they met even though Katelyn had been friendly and polite.

"This is amazing," Hermione murmured in awe as she watched the castle come into full view. Katelyn sat beside her, holding the lamp while Katie and Vincent sat behind them. Seamus Finnigan was in the very front.

"I know," Katelyn said, "it's beautiful at nighttime."

"It really is," Hermione agreed. Although, she didn't see that Katelyn was looking at her.

When they docked, Katelyn helped Seamus get out first before she got out herself. Then she gave her hand to Hermione who grasped it. She pulled her up onto the dock with little effort and then grabbed Katie's hand when she stumbled a bit.

"Careful, now," Katelyn said while Vincent gave her a slightly panicked and relieved look from behind their friend. Hermione helped Katelyn pull Katie onto the dock. Then Katelyn helped Vincent.

The large group of first years all began to make their way toward the castle, following Harry and Ron who were leading.

They took in the beautiful castle before them, all of them chattering excitedly. They entered which was a whole different beauty in itself.

Katelyn waved to Draco when she saw him, and he waved back.

They walked up a couple flights of stairs before they reached a staircase where Professor McGonagall was waiting for them. She was wearing green robes and a black witch's hat. She had a scroll in her hand which were crossed in front of her.

Katelyn grinned upon seeing her godmother.

"Welcome to Hogwarts," the woman said as she looked over them all, stoic as ever.  "Now, in a few moments, you will pass through these doors and join your classmates. But before you can take your seats, you must be sorted into your houses. They are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin."

Her eyes instantly flicked toward Katelyn who had ended up in the front beside Harry, Ron, and Hermione with Katie and Vincent right behind her.

Katelyn smirked at the woman.

McGonagall looked away to give all the students a serious stare. "While you are here, your house will be your family. Your triumphs will earn you points. Any rule-breaking and you will lose points," she paused to let what she said sink in, "at the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the house cup—"

"Trevor!"

Katelyn startled slightly at the sudden yell.

Neville Longbottom pushed past some students and scooped up the frog that was sitting on the top step.

McGonagall stared down at him with a raised eyebrow and an unimpressed look on her face.

Katelyn snickered behind her hand. "Not a word out of you, Ms. Royal," McGonagall pointed the scroll at her and Katelyn's eyes widened in slight fear as she quickly nodded.

Hermione raised an eyebrow at Katelyn, smiling teasingly at her. "Shut it," the blonde hissed, smacking away Hermione's finger that was poking her rib.

Neville went back to his spot after apologizing for interrupting the woman's speech.

"The sorting ceremony will begin momentarily," McGonagall finished before turning and walking away.

"It's true then," Draco said loudly, catching the attention of everyone. Katelyn groaned; she knew he was about to make a fool of himself. "What they're saying on the train. Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts," he smirked, eyeing the boy with the lightning scar.

Everyone began to murmur and gasp.

Katelyn sighed and stuffed her hands in her pockets.

Draco nudges his head in the direction of two people who make Katelyn want to jump off the side of the stairs to her death.

"This is Crabbe and Goyle... and I'm Malfoy," he smirked as he pushed his way through to get in front of Harry. Katelyn mouthed along to what he said next, "Draco Malfoy." She rolled her eyes.

Ron snickered.

Draco quickly turned to look at him. "Think my name's funny, do you?" He asked with a sneer, giving him a once over, "no need to ask you yours. Red hair and a hand-me-down robe? You must be a Weasley."

Katelyn quickly walked over, smacking his shoulder. "Okay, goldilocks, you're done," she said, using the nickname she knows he loathes. Draco gave her an unimpressed look. She raised an eyebrow, "what? Am I speaking Italian? You're done, go back to lobster and ravine." She shooed him with a hand as people around them snickered.

"He'll find out that some wizarding families are better than others soon enough," Draco said with an air of superiority.

"You're right. My family is better than yours, thanks, Dray!" She patted his shoulder with a smile then shoved him backward into his goons.

A hand wrapped around her collar, and she grimaced. Draco snickered at her while Katie muttered a 'it's only been fifteen minutes.'

Harry raises his eyebrows at his best friend and Katelyn mouths 'Minerva' to him. She had told him that she had a godmother named Minerva who was like a stern grandmother. He winced for her and gave her a smile.

"They're ready for you now," McGonagall said toward the students, her fingers letting go of her collar. She still kept a grip on the back of Katelyn's neck though. One of the Ravenclaw Prefects came out of the dining hall. "This is Penelope Clearwater. She will be taking you all into the Great Hall and giving you further instruction," McGonagall told the first years.

Penelope gave them all a nod, "follow me," she gestured with her hand in a 'come on' motion as she walked toward the double doors. Hermione shot Katelyn a look and the blonde gave her a small wave. McGonagall hadn't let up her grip for a second.

"Mr. Malfoy," McGonagall said as he went to pass them. He froze, going rigid before he stepped beside the woman to let the other students pass, keeping his head bowed. As soon as the three were alone in the corridor, McGonagall gave them both a hard stare. "You two are going to cause me quite a headache, aren't you?" She said, folding her arms and tapping the rolled parchment against her elbow.

Draco and Katelyn glanced at each other before giving the woman innocent smiles.

Her godmother sighed. "What was the reason for getting violent already? You've barely been here forty-five minutes," she asked, raising an eyebrow. Usually, they had a little more ability to control themselves and tousled after at least an hour.

"He was being a git to the Weasley boy, madrina," Katelyn replied and Draco gave her a betrayed look. [Godmother]

"What happened to snitching?!" Draco demanded, his mouth dropped and eyes wide.

Katelyn gave him an incredulous look, gesturing to McGonagall. "You're telling me you wouldn't sell me out the second she asked you too?" She argued back, raising her eyebrows at him.

He opened his mouth to say 'of course I wouldn't!' but found he couldn't because McGonagall was a very scary woman. Growing up with her babysitting you was either the best time of your life or the worst (they got in trouble a lot).

"Exactly," Katelyn deadpanned, turning back to her godmother, "we promise to not start anything until after we're sorted." Draco nodded in agreement, the two doing a pinky promise.

Minerva raised an eyebrow, but sighed, knowing that was the best she was getting. "Let's go," she said, spinning on her heel and walking toward the double doors. Draco and Katelyn quickly followed her after exchanging one last punch.

Katelyn and Draco stood next to each other near the front. McGonagall has kept an eye on them the whole time which stopped them from even speaking to one another.

Katelyn had been to Hogwarts once before. Her mother had been sent to Romania with little knowledge for an article for the Daily Prophet. Her father had been gone and her aunt Eliza had been working a case and her mum couldn't get ahold of her siblings so she was sent to McGonagall. It was very quick, but long enough for her to get a glimpse of the castle. She was six at the time.

The ceiling was bewitched to look like the night sky with candles floating around to keep it lit. Four tables lined in the middle of the Great Hall for each of the houses. The large U-shaped table that held the faculty members of the school sat behind where they were to be sorted. A stool sat in the middle of the floor with McGonagall standing beside it and a limp-y, old hat resting on top.

The Sorting Hat created by Godric Gryffindor.

Katelyn and Draco had missed the speech that Professor Dumbledore, the headmaster of the school, had given when they were being scolded (not that Katelyn minded, she didn't like the man).

"When I call your name, you will come forth, I shall place the Sorting Hat on your head..." McGonagall raised the hat up, "and you will be sorted into your houses." She looked at the list and called out the first name, "Hermione Granger."

Katelyn looked back and saw the slightly startled (and very nervous) expression on her friend's face. Hermione met her eyes and Katelyn gave her an encouraging nod, grinning. Hermione took a deep breath and nodded back. Katelyn saw the brunette mutter to herself as she stepped onto the deck.

"Mental, that one. I'm tellin' you," she heard Weasley say to Harry frowned at the boy, glaring slightly.

Katelyn rolled her eyes and leaned closer to the redheaded boy and her best friend. "She's nervous, you bloke. Wouldn't you be if this was all new?" She hissed to them, mostly to Ron because she knew that Harry was nervous. She could sense it. She gave Ron a glare and he glared back. Draco tugged on her sleeve, shaking his head and she clenched her jaw and focused on Hermione.

The brunette sat down on the stool and Professor McGonagall placed the hat on her head, stepping away. "Ah, right, then," the hat spoke, the lumps and wrinkles morphing to make a mouth, eyes, and nose, "hmm. Right. Okay... GRYFFINDOR!"

The lion's table cheered loudly for their newest housemate and Hermione beamed. She got up and skipped to the table. Katelyn smiled slightly.

"Oh, great, you fancy a lion," Draco hissed into her ear with slight teasing and slight annoyance.

Katelyn's ears turned red. "I do not," she hissed back, "she a friend. I suppose you don't know what that is 'cause I'm you're only one."

He raised his clenched fist to punch her in the arm when— "Draco Malfoy." They both froze and Draco quickly hid his fist. Katelyn shoved him forward slightly.

"Go, goldilocks," she whispered with a small grin.

"I'm going," he whispered back sharply and then walked up onto the deck. McGonagall gave him a dry look, knowing exactly what was about to happen if she hadn't interrupted. He gave her a sheepish grin and sat down on the stool.

McGonagall had barely put the hat on his head when it yelled, "SLYTHERIN!"

Katelyn grinned widely. Lucius will be pleased which will get him off Draco's back. She whistled and he shot her a salute before walking over to the serpent table with a smirk.

"There's not a witch or wizard who went bad who wasn't in Slytherin," Ron whispered to Harry and Katelyn almost punched him.

"Will you shut your mouth, Weasley?" Katelyn snapped quietly, giving him a cold glare. Ron shrunk back from her stare. Katelyn shook her head and looked back at her godmother, crossing her arms. She watched as Susan Bones was placed in Hufflepuff. Ron was called next and shocker of the year, he was placed in Gryffindor!

"Harry Potter," McGonagall called next and Katelyn watched as Dumbledore straightened in his seat. Harry stared wide-eyed and then gave Katelyn a look. She mouthed 'you got this'. He gulped and nodded, turning to face the stool and the other professors. He stepped up onto the deck and took a seat. McGonagall placed the hat on his head and stepped back.

"Hmm. Difficult, very difficult. Plenty of courage, I see. Not a bad mind, either. There's talent—oh, yes—and a thirst to prove yourself. But where to put you?" The Sorting Hat spoke, causing a slight shiver to run down Katelyn's spine. From what it was saying, Katelyn almost believed that Harry could be put in Slytherin. She sure as hell knows he has some of the qualities. "Not Slytherin, eh?" Katelyn stuffed her hands in her pockets, sighing. "Are you sure? You could be great, you know. It's all here in your head. And Slytherin will help you on the way to greatness, there's no doubt about that. No?" It paused and Harry whispered some more. "Well, if you're sure... better be... GRYFFINDOR!"

The lion table cheered the loudest it had all night along with most of the teachers. Katelyn gives Harry a smile when he looks over at her excitedly. He bounces off the chair and walks over to his new house, being greeted like a hero. A hero they all claimed he was. Dumbledore raised his goblet to the boy, smirking behind the cup. Katelyn held her tongue, but allowed herself to roll her eyes.

"Katelyn Royal," McGonagall said next, cutting off the cheers and the clapping. Katelyn silently thanked her godmother for not using her full name. She loved it, don't get her wrong and she loved the meaning behind it, but she had grown used to Katelyn and that was who she was known most as.

Katelyn exhaled deeply and walked up onto the deck, taking her hands out of her pockets. McGonagall gave her a soft look and a small smile. Katelyn relaxed significantly, sitting down on the stool. McGonagall hesitated for a second before setting the hat down on her goddaughter's head. She stepped away.

"Another Royal!" Katelyn startled at the loud shout. Katie and Vincent snickered. "Plenty of ambition courses through you. A determination to own up to your family name. A bravery to stand up for what you believe in and a loyalty to stand by your friends no matter what. You lead yourself and the people around you to greatness with courage and chivalry. Where to put you, where to put you. You are difficult, yes, you are. Such a high intelligence. You're original, different from most who are in your life. Where should you go, where to put you." Katelyn swallowed and looked over at McGonagall as the hat moved. Her head snapped toward the other way and then back to the front. "Oh, I know... SLYTHERIN!"

Draco stood up and cheered loudly along with the rest of the Slytherin. Most of them already knew who she was and if they didn't, they've heard rumors.

McGonagall released a breath and took the hat off her head after stroking Katelyn's cheek. Katelyn stood up and walked over to the serpent table. She sat down beside her best friend who wrapped his arm around her shoulders.

"Good to have you, Royal," Marcus said, giving her a curt nod.

"Thanks, Flint," Katelyn said.

"You're not hungry?" Killian asked her.

Killian was a handsome-looking boy. He had messy black hair that fell just right on his head no matter what he was going through. He had bluish-almost purple eyes that he inherited from his father, Luca.

Katelyn had grabbed some food, but barely touched it. She's been drawing on a piece of cloth with a muggle pen that her mother had gifted to her. Katelyn didn't answer him, too consumed in what she's drawing. "Niko," Killian said, placing a hand on hers.

Katelyn looked up at him, eyes wide with curiosity as to why he was touching her. He yanked his hand back and Draco snickered into his chicken. "What?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Are you not hungry?" Killian repeated.

"Oh, yeah, I am, but I'm trying to finish this," Katelyn replied, adding the finishing touches to the drawing of a rose. Once she was done, she grinned softly and folded the piece of cloth into a paper airplane. She whispered a spell and blew on it, watching as it soared over and through heads until it landed softly on Hermione's plate.

Hermione raised her eyebrows and then picked it up, unfolding it. She looked at it and smiled softly at the drawing. Touch the stem, it reads in the top right corner. Hermione tilted her head and touched the stem, her eyes widening when the rose became real and appeared in her hand. Hermione looked up, meeting Katelyn's eyes. Her cheeks turned pink and she quickly looked away to hide her smile.

Katelyn smirked and began to eat. "Wow," Killian said, eyeing the Gryffindor who had placed the rose gingerly on the table while smiling. "Aren't you charming?" Killian drawled, rolling his eyes and going back to his food.

"Oh, piss off," Katelyn said. She jumped when the Bloody Baron came slicing through the air with his sword. "Evening, Baron," Katelyn said with a short wave.

"Evening, Ms. Royal," the Baron greeted back before flying over to terrorize the other houses.

KATELYN WATCHED AS ONE OF the Slytherin prefects, Vanellope Cole, did the password to enter the common room. There was a large, bare stretch of stone wall in front of them. It kind of reminded Katelyn of the entrance to Diagon Alley. A passage opened up once Vanellope was done and she guided them all inside.

The common room was dungeon-like (considering it was in the dungeons, Katelyn wasn't very surprised). The room was long and low with rough stone walls where greenish lamps were hanging on chains. A fire was crackling under an elaborately carved mantelpiece ahead of them, and several carved chairs. Half of the common room was extended under the lake, giving the light in the room a green tinge. Windows were carved out of the stone, revealing the lake. The ceiling was glass and revealed the lake above their heads with fish and other creatures swimming about.

"Bloody hell," Katelyn whispered, grabbing Killian's hand excitedly. He had told her about it and she had been excited ever since. She had a fascination with all things creatures so being able to see underneath the lake was like her candy in a candy store.

Killian smiled and tossed her over his shoulder, wrapping his arm around Draco's shoulder, and walking over to where a Merrow was hovering, watching them all. Katelyn stared in awe and waved. The Merrow waved back.

"That is a weird-looking mermaid," Draco said, slightly creeped out by how it looked. They looked more fish-like than humanoid. They were more known in Ireland, but Katelyn wasn't surprised that they were here as well. The Merrow stared at Draco and narrowed its eyes. Draco startled a little and slid behind Killian.

The black-haired boy rolled his eyes and set Katelyn down. He started to sign to the Merrow, telling them that Draco was new and usually didn't mind his tongue. And that they looked terrifying (the Merrow stood proudly at that). Katelyn watched on in awe and once Killian was done, grabbed his arm.

"This is why you were teaching me sign language!" The blonde said, grinning brightly. Killian nodded, smiling back at her.

"I wanna know sign language," Draco pouted.

Killian rolled his eyes again, "I'll teach you, don't worry."

Draco and Katelyn fist-bumped.
