Vitani's P.O.V

The morning sun was blazing and it felt as if my back were minutes from being burned. "VItani, pay attention. " Tama scolded me. I roll my eyes, she's not my mother she can't tell me what to do. "Vitani!" I turn around a see a very mad Nala.

What did I do now?

"You completely missed the chance to attack!" I look around and all the females are mad, even Dottie, one of the many female Outsiders that I grew up with, is pissed off. "I don't see why I must be the one that always makes the kill. "I frown.

It's true. It's always me that has to bring down the animal.

Always.

"Because you are the best huntress here. " Tama interjects. She's a very beautiful PrideLander, a slightly darker fur than mine, hazel eyes and, surprisingly, a small hair tuft. "That may be the case, but I can't always do it. " "You've never complained before. " I again roll my eyes in annoyance.

"Vitani?" I look up at Tama her hazel eyes instantly calming me down and making me feel as if she could make everything better.

Not exactly sure why.

"Yes?" She opened her mouth to say something but then closed it and said never mind. I again roll my eyes and I crouch down close to the ground flicking my ears back.

I make sure every muscle in my body is moving in silence, these wildebeests are stupid, but they have stupidly amazing hearing. My exposed claws dig into the dirt and once I'm a foot away from the weak one

"Rah!" I groan as I pounce in-front of the animal. It makes an odd noise and takes off.

My favorite part.

Once he is distracted Tama jumps in front of it and Nala takes his left flank next to me. The other lionesses circle him while I make my way towards the front and once he seems to not be paying attention....I strike.

After devouring most of the corpse I take what's left over and I walk over to my father, Scar's, old home.

Where I used to live.

"Morning rouge. " I mumble with my mouth full of the exquisite meat. He stands and greets me with a soft morning.

"I brought you this. " I mumble again as I place the food on the floor and I lick my lips to clean the blood off. "Thank you. " He smiles and he eats the four chunks I brought him.

Once he's done he licks his paws clean and he shakes making his golden brown mane look majestic.

I'm such a weirdo.

"So um training starts today. Come along. " I say as I hunch over and I walk over to the other exit of the cave. "Why do you walk like that?" he asks when he catches up. "Like what?" I ask "you hunch your back and lower your head. Why?" I look up and realize his eyes are a beautiful olive color. "There's no reason. I was just taught to walk in a certain manner. " And because my mother made sure I was never above her.

Literally.

The walk to the waterhole was quiet and quick. "Alright, first lesson. You need to learn how to relax. You can't be tense while hunting the animal you're trying to catch will sense it and you and your pride will starve. " He raises an eyebrow "I have no pride to hunt for. " I roll my eyes "I know that, but when you do. " He chuckles and I see his tail twitch with anticipation. "How do I relax?" "By not over thinking it. " I say as I sit straight and I close my eyes.

I can feel his stare. "You need to close your eyes Tanabi. " I say as I open one of my own. "Oh, right. Sorry. " He apologizes and he closes both of his dazzling green eyes. "Try to feel the land. Listen to it. Smell it. Learn every sense and sound, that will become your advantage. " I say as I open my eyes and see that his lips are slightly parted and I can tell that he's really trying.

I get up and I circle him. "What do you smell?" He inhales and exhales a couple times before answering "I smell, the water, the grass and you. " I smile not bad for a first timer. "Good. What do you hear?" I can see his ears moving forward, backwards, sideways. "There's a steam nearby, I can hear the leaves in the wind. I hear your claws hitting the ground. " He opens one eye and gives me a smug look. I lift my paw and cover his eyes again. "Alright, that's good so far. Now try to feel it. " "How?" He asks with interest "that's up to you to figure out. " I lay by the thick grass and watch him struggle to feel the lands.

After an hour I realize he hasn't figures it out. "Your claws. " I mumble and I see his ears twitch backwards toward my voice then he flicks them back to the front. I can hear his claws digging into the dirt.

I get up and I begin to walk around. "Now that you understand this a little better you will use all of the things I've taught you so far and you will try to catch me. " "Seems easy enough. " "With you eyes shut. " "Whats the purpose of that?" He asks as his eyes flutter open and his pupils get tiny adjusting to the light of the sun "we can't see that well in the dark. It's best to practice now. " I say and he raises an eyebrow and tilts his head to the side. "What?" "How do you know all of this stuff? " "I'll answer your questions once you have caught me. " I smirk.

He shakes his head and closes his eyes. I stay still for a moment and once I see that he's concentrated I hunch over, flick my ears back and I crouch just so he can't smell me as easily.

I make my movements quick and stealthily. I make sure my shoulders move as I take firm steps on the warm, African plains. His ears twitch.

He heard me.

"Trust your ears Tanabi." I whisper and his black rimmed ears flick back and when I least expected it he was on-top of me. "Like that?" I struggle to move from under him but its no use. "Ugh, yes, yes like that, now get off." He smirks and gets off me.

I shake off the dirt and clear my throat "lessons over. Tomorrow we will try with an actual animal." He gives me a look "don't worry I know the person. He won't mind being the test dummy."

"You want me to do what?!" "Oh come on Timon, its not that bad." "Hell it is. I'm getting too old for this. What if I dislocate a disk or somethin'?" I roll my eyes at the old meekat, I remember when he was always nagging and enjoying the nasty termites from the OutLands. "You won't break you fuzzy rat. Now come on you said you'd do it." "Fine, fine but can I at least meet the guy before he goes phsyco carnivore on my ass." I giggle at his stupidity he and Pumbaa are just never going to change even at such an old age. "Alright, Tanabi come meet Timon." He gets up from the rock by the waterhole.

The rock that Kopa used to love.

I shake my head, no, no more of those thoughts. He's dead.

He's never coming back.

"Him?" "And whats wrong with me?" Timon snaps "many things my little friend." I tease as I wrap my small paw around his neck and pull him close. "Alright, alright break it up." I hear Pumbaa yell from behind me. "Tanabi, this is the legendary Timon and Pumbaa. They are the life of the party." I add sarcastically while they hold their heads up with pride.

Bunch of idiots.

"Wait. Where did the stiff come from?" Timon asks as he looks Tanabi up and down "oh uh he's a rogue and we made an agreement." I answer honestly as I make eye contact with the lion I've known for three days.

"Well, any friend of Vitani is a friend of ours." Pumbaa says as he smiles.

"Keep your breathing still. Don't tense up, that's it." I'm next to him and he does as he is told. "Like this?" I nod and he looks forward feeling the earth between his claws, moving his ears around to listen carefully, making sure his breathing is still and steady.

He's ready, all he has to do is prove it. He begins to stalk through the tall grass making curves here and there and slipping his ears back I know that he's found them.

He looks over at me and I nod. He smiles and the last thing I see is a blonde flash and a yelp from the two that were on the other side of the high grass.

I race to the other side to see Tanabi with both of the jokers cornered by him, he was growling and bellowing. If he keeps this up Simba and Kovu are gonna come over here and see whats up...that would be bad.

"Alright, alright that's enough you did great." His snarl instantly disappears and he smiles. "Thanks." "Yeah. Thanks guys you can leave now." They shakily walk away and we both crack up at the sight.

"That was priceless." He laughs as he plops on his butt still laughing. "Ha-ha the look on their faces man." I answer. Once we sober up we notice that the sun is setting. "Oh wow look at that." He says mesmerized "what?" He nods towards the painted looking sunset. "Wow." I say in awe the sky is tinged with perfect shades of hot pink, bright orange, and a dark purple. "Beautiful." He comments and I notice he wasn't looking at the sky but at me. For the first time in my life I blush at what someone had to say about me. "Come on Tani, its getting late." He gets up and walks a few feet away before stopping. I look at the scars on his right flank and I look back up to meet his gaze. I pick myself up and I walk over to him. "I'll walk you over to your cave if that's alright." "You'll get caught." His face falls but instantly recovers and nods.

After a good five minutes of walking we make it to PrideRock. "I'll see you tomorrow Tani." Before I can answer he nuzzles into the side of my neck with his forehead and he walks off to his home.

What just happened?

Tanabi's P.O.V.

I can't begin to explain how amazing today was. Vitani is something else, it feels like I've known her my entire life, her presence is enough to make me happy. This is insane! I've only known her for three days and I love her.

Did I just say that I love her?

That's impossible, but it feels like I'm meant to have these feelings. I Love the way she looks at me when did something right, when she's walking and her body seems to just move along with her in a way I've never seen before. The way she feels when I nuzzle into her soft fur, the way she breathes, the way she is herself.

A rock being stumbled on caused me to snap out of my thoughts. I turn around to see Vitani only it's not her. It's a different female with a cream fur with a hint of gold like mine only her's is a bit darker, she was short and lean with brownish red eyes. "What are you doing here?" She asks, her voice stern but not too stern. "I uh um my friend let me stay here for a while." Before she can answer me or testify I see Vitani come and says "Kiara what are you doing here?" The real question is why is he here?" She looks over at me and I shrug "I let him stay here." "He's a rouge Vitani. He's dangerous." "What makes you think I'm dangerous?" I ask as I take a step closer to her. She looks me over without moving from her place "You're a rouge are you not?" She asks "yes I am, but I wasn't raised to be dangerous or anything." "Who raised you?" Am I playing 20 questions with a teenager? "Mheetu, a rouge himself, raised me as his own. He was more of a brother than a father figure really." She studies me with an odd look on her face "Mheetu? Are you sure about that?"

It's my turn to looks at her oddly.

"Why would I lie about that?" I take a few more steps closer to her and she says "Mheetu is my uncle. He was murdered, possibly after you were born, so don't you dare make up such lies." She growls, "what? No! He's alive and he raised me!" I roar causing her to cower a bit before I got to finish yelling at her a dark furred and dark maned lion was standing in front of me.

He has a scar on his left eye.

"Back off rouge." "Or what? You'll give me a horrid scar like the on you already posses?" He snarls at me baring his teeth and claws I growl at him and he attacks me by smacking me with his large paw. I roar and I bite his ear causing him to yell in agony. He brings his arms up and pushes me off causing me to slightly stumble, I groan and I jump and land on his back, he attempts to to bite my paws to get me off but I move them to his neck and I bite his shoulder. Again he growls and that's when I hear Vitani and Kiara yelling and begging for us to stop but I refuse to. He started this.

So I will end it.

Right when I was going to end it and kill him I felt someone push me off with brute force causing me to tumble and fall on my stomach knocking the air out of my lungs. Before I can get up and fight back the person pins me down and I realize the perpetrator had exposed claws and a thin body.

Vitani.

"Don't you ever touch my brother again! Understood?!" Brother?! This jerk is her brother?! "Get off me Vitani!" She sinks her claws in my right flank causing my healed scars to bleed and me to yell in pain. "Did you understand or not?" I nod and she gets off me.

I don't get up but I look at my injured flank, it's not that bad but I will need to heal it somehow or it'll hurt later on. "Kovu? You okay?" "Who is he?!" He yells in anger

"I'm the kid your parents warned you about."
