(Y/N) POV

Me and Kate were walking home with Kirito and Asuna back from Agils bar.

Kirito and Asuna walked ahead of us hand in hand.

I smiled as I felt Kate's soft hand in mine. I have it a light squeeze as my heart flutters

I felt her body slouch against mine as we walk.

"Your so warm," she says sweetly.

"Anything for you," I say proudly as she smiles

"I love you so much," she says as I stop and look at her

"That makes two of us," I say as I raise her chin and kiss her. She hugs me as I hug her back

"I don't know what I would do without you," Kate says

"Same here," I mutter

"Kirito!" I hear Asuna scream as my attention zips from Kate in front of me.

Kirito was on the ground clenching his heart as another man was on the ground grabbing his leg

"Asuna!" I call out as I sprint

"Shit! There's another!" The man yells as he rolls to look at me.

He then pulled something out of his coat

Kate POV

I was in his warm embrace.

We hugged in the cold night air.

His touch always sends butterflies down my stomach.

Without a doubt, this was the man I'd spent the rest of my life with.

I love him a lot.

I love his jokes.

I love the way he talks.

I love his tsundere nature toward his friends...it's so cute

I love the way he holds me

"Kirito!" I hear Asuna scream as the warmth I had felt just a moment earlier was gone and replaced with the cold air of the night.

I heard (Y/N) run toward the scream. I looked to see Kazuto on the ground...and I barely saw another man rollover.

He reached in his coat...and then bang.

The air shook as I watched confused...what happened?

Asuna had a terrified look on her face. The man that had just been on the ground was now running into the dark.

"(Y/N), you scared him!" I say as I smile. I look at Kazuto to see he isn't doing all that well.

"Is he gonna be ok?" I ask Asuna as she cries

"I don't know!" She says panicked as she phones the police

"(Y/N) help us out!" I call for him as I'm surprised he hasn't taken over the situation.

I look behind me...and my world ended.

He stood there, a pained expression on his face.

I was confused at first...then I looked at his body, and the red stains coming from the left side of his chest.

I didn't know...I...

I sprinted toward him as I noticed his legs starting to buckle under him.

"(Y/N)!!!" I scream as tears run down my face. I caught him just before he hit the ground.

"Kazuto, is he alright," he asks me

"Yea, it's just fine!" I lie as he looks relieved

"That's good," he says clearly in pain to talk.

I looked as his clothes started to get stained in blood. Then it clicked...that bang...it was a gun.

"(Y/N)!" I yell as he looks at me with weary eyes

"I've been shot right?" He asks me as I nod as I sob uncontrollably

"I'm getting tired," he says as my eyes widen

"Stay awake!" I scream as I force my hands on his wound.

It was to the left of the middle of his chest...it hit a lung for sure.

"Kate, I love you," he says as his eyes get watery

"Then stay!" I yell as I press down even harder.

"Kate, Kate," he says as I cry even harder

"No! I'm here! I'm right here!" I yell as he struggles to raise his hand to my face.

"Can I get a hug?" He asks as I sob.

"Of course!" I say between sobs. I didn't care about getting my clothes dirty.

He managed to wrap his arms around me and I wrapped one hand around him while I kept the other on his wound.

"Your warm," he says.

"Kate, I love you," he says

"Kate," he mutters his voice getting weaker.

I shut my eyes

"Go on!" I yell as silence persisted

"Tell me you love me again!" I say as I wrapped both arms around him now.

"Please! Stay with me! Don't go!" I sob.

I heard sirens in the background as emergency vehicles showed up.

The paramedics rushed to (Y/N) and asked me to step aside. I was hesitant, but I let them do their jobs.

That's when they started...CPR.

They violently thrusted his chest down as they gave him air through a plastic sheet of some kind.

I watched silently as they kept at it.

I noticed Kirito had been placed into an ambulance and was already on his way...why wasn't (Y/N) going in one of those yet?

I felt a hand on my shoulder and saw Asuna with tears. That's when it hit...and it hit hard

My heart shatters as emotion floods out like a freight train.

"Why!" I yell as Asuna engulfs me into a hug

"Why!" I scream again as my legs give out and Asuna carries me down to the ground.

"Not him! anyone but him!" I cry as she joins me.

They stopped CPR, and out came a body bag.

I buried my face into Asuna's chest. She stroked my hair as I cried nonstop.

Eventually, it took its toll on me...I fell asleep

I breathed in a fresh gulp of air as I sit up in my bed.

I was in a cold sweat as my heart was thumping like crazy.

"It was a dream!" I say out loud happy

I took my blanket off and started getting changed...that's when I saw it.

The skin under my right breast was stained red.

I hurried to get changed and rushed to see Kimmy.

She was in the kitchen like usual for the morning.

Her eyes were red when she looked at me.

"Please tell me it was a dream!" I ask as tears swell up in her eyes.

She opens her arms for a hug and then tells me.

"(Y/N) is dead," she says simply.

Tears return to my eye as I dash to her.

We embrace as we cry together.

5 years later

"She's amazing you know," I ask a grave beside me. I made a habit of sitting next to his grave

"I wish we coulda had our own child...I wasn't planning on one, but when I saw her on the streets I couldn't help myself," I explain

Her name was Jenny...almost the same as our adaptive daughter from SAO. She looked just like she did too.

"I'm glad I found her though...I was actually planning on joining you the next week...and here I am, 3 years later and still here," I say as I hug the tombstone.

She's the reason why I live now. Such a pure and innocent girl.

I just wish he coulda saw her. And I wish she coulda met him too.

I talk to her about (Y/N) every day...it brings back painful memories.

It hurts to think of him...but it would hurt even more to forget about him.

As long as I still remember you...you'll always be in my heart.

And you'll always be my one and only
