💗Valentine's Day Special💗
February 14th was probably the worst day of the year for those who were either single or longing to be with that special someone, but lack the courage to change their relationship status.
On the other hand, Valentine's Day is the most romantic day of the year for couples all over Earthland.
This includes Laxus and Jasmine.
This is their first Valentine's Day together as a couple and Laxus was determined not to mess this up.
He is head-over-heels in love with her, but she only recently began to develop feelings for him. Jasmine most likely is not even in love with him yet, and he knows that. He's okay with that. But that's doesn't mean that he'll only settle for "I think I like you."
He wants her to love him just as much as he loves her. He also wants her complete trust since he knows that she probably doesn't completely trust him yet.
And, once again, he's fine with that.
"So, what should I do?" Laxus asked, releasing a shaky breath.
The table of women - Evergreen, Mirajane, Erza, Lisanna, and Lucy - sat with the Master's grandson after shyly being asked to meet with him about a personal matter. The "personal matter" being how he was going to surprise and wow Jasmine tomorrow for Valentine's Day.
"You can't go wrong with a bouquet of red roses." Evergreen suggested.
"I think a dinner at sunset would be romantic." Mira also suggested.
"Do you think Jasmine is the romantic type?" Erza questioned.
"Every girl is romantic at heart, right?" Lucy shrugged.
"I don't know." Lisanna sighed, "Jasmine is a totally different cookie."
"No one's told me anything useful yet." Laxus grumbled.
"Patience, Laxus." Evergreen said.
"Well, Jasmine kept herself busy by working over the years, right?" Mira inquired, receiving a nod from everyone at the table. "Why not put her back to work?"
"Like, send her on a job?" Lucy asked, slightly confused.
"Not a wizard job." Mira shook her head, a mischievous smile appearing on her face. "A scavenger hunt. A romantic scavenger hunt that will eventually lead her to Laxus, who will be waiting for her with her favorite food and a romantic song playing in the background."
"That's a great idea, Mira!" Lisanna praised her sister.
"You certainly know romance, don't you?" Erza smirked.
"Okay, so, suppose I go through with this." Laxus spoke up, "What will we make her do? And what's her favorite food? Anyone know?"
All the girls began to think (Mira hummed as she thought) until the barmaid came up with an idea.
"Well, there are some boys in the guild who are always itching for a fight." Mira hinted, "And as far as her favorite food goes, you might want to ask the one who's always with her."
"This is just so romantic!" Evergreen squealed, "Laxus, I had no idea you could be romantic."
"S-Shut up!" The male stuttered, his cheeks turning red. "No one else finds out about this, understand?" He threatened, but it couldn't be taken as seriously because of his blush. Nonetheless, the girls at the table nodded.
Commence Operation: L-O-V-E!
February 14th/Valentine's Day
The next day didn't feel like a day that was reserved for couples. Jasmine spent (or at least, she was hoping she could spend) the day in her pajamas, in bed, doing nothing but lounge around and be lazy.
She honestly thought nothing of Valentine's Day.
Her plans were interrupted when Raph barged into her bedroom exclaiming, "Let's go to the guild!"
"No." Jasmine rejected the idea of leaving her home immediately and turned over in bed.
"But Jasmine," the exceed whined, "I was hoping to get some cake today before Erza eats it all."
"Cake?"
"Yeah, a Valentine's Day cake."
Jasmine groaned at the mention of the horrendous holiday which seemed like a waste of time to her. In her oppinion, if you truly loved someone then you'd show them everyday and not just one day out of the year.
"C'mon, Jasmine!" Raph whined once more, "I really want some cake!"
"Why can't you go get some by yourself?" Jasmine retorted.
"Because we're two peas in a pod." He grinned, "Joined at the hip!"
Jasmine huffed and groaned, getting up and out of bed because she knew that the exceed was right (and that he wouldn't have stopped begging).
The duo arrived at Fairy Tail thirty minutes later, Raph eager for cake. He flew to the bar - where there was cake - excitement and joy sparkling in his eyes. The cake was already cut into slices, which were already on plates, so he grabbed a plate and a nearby fork before digging in.
"Mira, your cakes are always the best!" Raph hummed, obviously delighted.
"You got your cake, now let's go home." Jasmine hissed, wanting to get away from society for a day.
"Wait, Jasmine!" Mira spoke up. She reached down and grabbed a letter before handing it to the stronger female. "It's from Laxus." She informed the girl with a smile.
"What is it now?" Jasmine grumbled, opening the letter.
Jasmine,
This is a test of strength. Today, let's see how strong The Lightning Empress really is. Do you deserve your title? To encounter your first challenge, go to the lake located in the east forest.
See you soon,
Laxus
"Is he an idiot?" Jasmine grumbled again, folding the letter. "Raph, c'mon!" She turned swiftly and headed for the exit.
"I'm good!" Raph replied in a laidback manner, "You can go without me. I want more cake!"
Jasmine rolled her eyes and groaned. I'm surrounded by imbeciles! She thought as she followed the instructions of the letter.
Arriving at the lake, Jasmine was surprised to not encounter Laxus, but Gray and Juvia.
"Let's not waste any time!" Gray shouted. "C'mon, Juvia!"
"Yes, Gray-sama!"
Water rose from the lake at Juvia's command. "Water Nebula!" As the water curved and headed straight toward Jasmine, Gray decided to attack by using Juvia's water. "Ice Make: Lance!"
Jasmine simply jumped to dodge the attack using minimal effort. She looked extremely bored at the moment, not enjoying the fight one bit.
"Our abilities aren't compatible." Jasmine mumbled. She held out her right hand and slowly started to curl her fingers inward, forming a fist.
"Crap!" Gray groaned, knowing what she was doing. He could technically save himself, but Juvia - even her body was made of water. She couldn't escape. At the last second, deciding to save himself, Gray tuck-and-rolled out of the lake as the body of water (and Juvia) exploded in a lightning bomb.
Not wasting a second, Gray continued to fight.
"Ice Make: Prison!" Once Jasmine was trapped, he immediately followed up with another attack. "Ice Make: Cannon!" A large ball of ice was shot at the intended target and it did, in fact, make impact with the prison.
However, a sliver of lightning floated in the sky above where the prison used to be. That lightning transformed back into its original form: a human body. Jasmine took her time in the air to launch an attack and end the fight.
"Lightning Dragon's Breakdown Fist!"
"I-Ice Make: Shield!" In a slight attempt to save himself, Gray created a shield, but the attempt was futile.
The lightning broke through the shield as if it wasn't even there, and Gray was defeated.
"Where the heck is Laxus?" Jasmine grumbled, becoming annoyed.
"Here . ." A weak and defeated Gray shakingly held up another small letter for the female to take, which she did.
So you beat Ice Boy? I knew you would; the fight was over rather quickly, wasn't it? The next two aren't so keen on giving up. To meet your next opponent, head in the opposite direction to South Gate Park.
Knock 'em dead,
Laxus
Jasmine followed the instructions of the latest letter and was even more annoyed when she came face-to-face with Natsu, the boy who literally never gives up.
"Defeat me and this is yours." Natsu informed her, grinning as he held up another letter before putting it in his pocket. "But that's not gonna happen today, Jasmine, because I'm gonna take you down!"
"If you say so." She sighed.
Natsu engulfed his body in fire and charged at the awaiting Jasmine, only to be hit on the head and collapse to the ground. Defeated.
"You've got to be kidding me right now." Jasmine said under her breath. So much confidence and potential. She thought, looking down at the unconscious Natsu. But it's gonna take decades to get on my level, Natsu. At that thought, she smirked.
She grabbed the new letter from Natsu's pocketand began reading it.
Took out the fireball, I knew you would. He probably gave you a speech about how strong he's gotten and how he's determined to defeat you, didn't he? Typical Natsu. Your last opponent might actually be a challenge since he holds a grudge toward you. But you're still stronger than him. Go to the east forest again and head toward the caves. He's waiting for you there.
Laxus
Jasmine walked through the east forest, trying to think about who exactly in the guild has a grudge toward her.
When she arrived at her destination, she was met with a stone cold Gajeel Redfox.
"Jasmine." He acknowledged her presence with a grumble.
"You hold a grudge against me?" Jasmine inquired.
"Ain't none of your business." Gajeel snapped, standing up from his crisscross sitting position. "Let's get this over with." As he said that, his left arm turned into an iron rod. He lunged the rod at his opponent, beginning the battle.
Jasmine, however, simply caught the rod in her hand. The male smirked before several other, smaller rods came up from the original larger one. The S-Class wizard turned into lightning and drifted backwards, away from the attack.
"Tch." Gajeel gritted his teeth in annoyance. Ever since he met her, it has bothered him that he has not won in a fight against her yet. He doesn't know why it bothers him so much, but it does.
She's the only person on Earthland that he's faced and has been defeated every single time.
"Dragon Slayer Secret Art," Gajeel shouted, deciding to give it his all from the very start. "Karma Demon Iron God Sword!" Using his secret art, which he obtained on Tenrou Island, he attacked Jasmine who was not expecting such a grand attack (at least, not from the start of the fight).
So Gajeel did manage to land a blow on Fairy Tail's strongest female wizard; something he confidently smirks about.
But Jasmine is far from defeated.
The attack slashed the upper part of her left thigh and the abdominal region, ripping her jeans (and shirt) and leaving a gash. Not liking the sensation of pain, she gritted her teeth as she became angry.
"Bring it." Gajeel challenged. "You gotta get through me if you wanna go see your little boyfriend."
The reference to Laxus made something snap in Jasmine's head. At the speed of light, Jasmine approached Gajeel and slammed his body into the ground, immediately sending him into a state of unconsciousness.
I did it again, didn't I? Jasmine thought to herself. Once again, she let the anger control her. And for some reason, anger seems to put her into a state where she doesn't know what she's doing. At least, not until after the damage is done.
Checking his pockets, Jasmine found the third and final letter from Laxus.
Congrats on your win against Metalhead. Now for your reward. Come to the Kardia Cathedral church for something you'll never forget.
I'll be waiting,
Laxus
"The church, huh?" She thought aloud. She left Gajeel's unconscious body in the face and headed for this "surprise" that Laxus had planned. Honestly, she doesn't like surprises. Especially not after the surprise of Erik (a.k.a. Cobra) leaving her when she was young.
So, she's highly suspicious as she approached the massive church. She can also hear music begin to play softly.
L is for the way you look at me
As the song starts, the doors to Kardia Cathedral swing open.
O is for the only one I see
Looking inside, Jasmine immediately saw Laxus standing in the very center of the church.
V is very, very extraordinary
E is even more than anyone that you adore
Mouth agape, Jasmine hesitantly entered the building. In front of Laxus, there was a table for two which consisted of hot, fresh, out-of-the-oven pizza (her favorite food) and a bottle of sparkling grape juice (her favorite drink).
And LOVE is all that I can give to you
LOVE is more than just a game for two
"What is this?" Jasmine asked, her mouth stil agape.
"I combined your favorite things to create, what I hope was, the perfect day." Laxus admitted.
"My favorite things?" She scoffed.
"I know you love fighting." The male commented with a smirk.
"Yeah, when the opponents are decent." She mumbled.
"It was the best I could do on short notice." The blond confessed, blushing.
"How did you know my favorite meal?"
"Raph told me."
"That little-" Jasmine furrowed her eyebrows. He was in on it the entire time! She snapped in her head.
"I hope today was good." Laxus spoke, his blush darkening. "I tried to make it special. Next year I'll plan ahead, but this is all I could do-"
"It's fine." She interrupted.
"Y-You sure?"
She nodded in response and sat down at the table. Laxus seemed to have put a lot of effort into making today an enjoyable one, so therefore she won't complain. Besides, no one has went through so much anxiety for her.
Even though she won't admit any of this to him.
Two in love can make it, take my heart and please don't break it
LOVE was made for me and you
Laxus and Jasmine sat and ate pizza as well as drank sparkling grape juice. The meal wasn't fancy by any means, but it was she wanted.
Laxus wanted to make room in Jasmine's heart for himself and, to do that, he needed to get to know her. Not shower her with fancy resturant dinners and flowers.
Because that's not who Jasmine is.
But love is a powerful emotion that can be both dangerous and beautiful.
Hopefully, it turns out beautiful for our newest couple.
