Ch1_A Faint Memory
The snow gently descended onto the lone town that glowed with warmth. Children danced as snowflakes fell and the breeze blew by.
Though small, this town was filled with warm souls. The sound of laughter and company. A place where you could walk into and become friends with anyone. You were never alone.
Shop lights reflected against the snow and lit up the town.
Snowdin.
The snow fell relentlessly. The breeze cold enough to bite through any life from in its way.
The pine trees towered over every body entering the forest. The snow was deep.
The aura dark, filled with shadows.
Snowdin Forest.
A small, withered soul made it's way through the cold. A small, bruised and scarred everywhere you looked. A small, shivering with every ounce of its being shuttering with each step. A small sould protected by nothing but a torn shirt, pants, and shoes, for everything else had been stripped away from it.
Older children can be so very mean sometimes. You were either a target, or invisible.
They said sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.
Yet his bones bleed and his soul aches.
~present~
It was beautiful day outside. The birds are singing, the flowers are blooming. On days like this, monsters and humans live along side each other on the surface.

No more resets. What a thought. But they promised this time, so, it couldn't happen again... right?
I lay awake staring at the ceiling, the sun peeked through my curtains and practically lit the whole room. It was still pretty early and since it was the weekend, no one was awake right now.
I sat up in bed and walked to the door, putting on my signature blue jacket that is honestly, way too big for my size. When I opened my door, the halls were still quiet. I took a small shortcut downstairs, not wanting to wake anyone up and went into the kitchen.
I'm not sure why, but I wanted to make breakfast for once. It wasn't something I had done for a long time. Well, not since Papyrus was young. I reached to get flour and other stuff you put in pancakes (i dunno what be in pancakes dudes, here's me cooking with thumbtacks in the batter).
I was stepped back and looked at my work, enough for everyone. It may have been a while since I've cooked, but I still got it.
Just then, I heard voices come down the stairs, but I got hit by a wave of sleepiness. Before anyone entered the kitchen, I took a shortcut to my room, flopping on my bed. I heard the voices downstairs talking but my mind pushed them away as sleep overcame me.

The smell of food woke me and I sat up on my bed. The clock read 6:45 pm, maybe Toriel had made breakfast. I walked out my room, and as I passed the hall, everyone else woke and we conversed whilst walking downstairs. Undyne thought we should go to the park and train. We didn't have to, but it was to keep us on our feet, and I didn't disagree. Alphys had found a cool new anime to watch, so I guess we have a few things to do.
Before we entered the kitchen, I noticed Toriel behind me. Wait, then who was downstairs. We all peered into the kitchen to see...
no one?
That's odd, yet there was still food on the table for all of us. "LADY TORIEL, DID YOU MAKE THIS?", I questioned. "I cannot say I have. Alphys, Undyne, what about you?" The couple both shook their head in equal confusion as all of us. Frisk approached the food and sniffed it. "It smells pretty good though", the tiny human said.
"STILL, WHO MADE IT? OR DO WE HAVE TO GUESS?", I looked around the room, all were present but Sans. I knew it couldn't be him though. He was still sleeping, and he hasn't made anything for a long time. And I would say the most important detail was that the kitchen was mostly clean, and Sans never cleans.
We all set it aside and decided we would just eat for now. "Hey, this is pretty good! There's even sliced strawberries in the pancake!", Undyne had said after her first bite. At that moment, I couldn't believe it, but I knew who made these.
"OH, REALLY? THEN I MIGHT KNOW WHO MADE BREAKFAST!", I said with excitement. It was hard to believe, but I was still happy that he was doing something. "W-wait r-really? w-who made i-it?", Alphys asked.
I began with a bright happy smile, "WELL, WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, SANS USED TO MAKE PANCAKES JUST LIKE THIS!!". They all stared at me, their face covered in disbelief. "No way, he's probably sleeping. Right?", Frisk said.
"W-well, m-maybe we c-could ask h-him when h-he g-gets up?", Alphys added. I wanted yo ask him too, but I had no doubt that Sans was probably going to sleep for the rest of the day.
We continued eating, me wearing a happy smile, until we heard a thud from upstairs. "I'LL GO CHECK IT OUT", I said before leaving.
(Sans's pov)
I woke up and nearly died falling off my bed. It was an understatement to say the dream I just had was bad. I sat up from the floor and leaned against the bed, rubbing my skull to stop the slight ringing when I heard a knock at my door. "SANS, IS EVERYTHING ALRIGHT?", it was Papyrus. "uhh, yeah bro, just love sleeping so much I practically FELL for it".
A loud sigh came from out side before Papyrus opened the door and closed it, coming towards me. He crouched down to my level and I just smiled and waved. "sup bro?".
"you know sans", Papyrus said with a more quiet voice, "you haven't made anything like this for a long time. But I am happy, it tasted very good brother!", he said hugging me. I knew he would know it was me.
"thanks bro".
"Oh, and Undyne thought we could all go to the park later! Would you like to come with us?", he asked.
"ehh, sure. why not".
"You can invite Grillby too! He's more than welcome to join us!".
I blush slightly at the mention of the fire elemental. I knew Papyrus could see my face practically turning into a blueberry.
(Papyrus's pov)
When I told Sans that Grillby could come with us, he lit up blue. I've known about Sans's crush in him since we were younger. They had been friends for years, but Sans always seemed so more attached to him than I am to spaghetti.
"y-yeah, o-okay...", he stuttered. I sure hope he asks him soon. They both obviously love each other. But it is quite annoying how oblivious each can be.

Customers entered and exited the restaurant as I cleaned a few glasses and took orders. Since opening my bar on the surface, business had greatly improved, probably because there were a lot of humans on the surface, but even then, the establishment had been able to keep its warm aura.
The morning greeted the scent of coffee and small chatter amongst groups at tables, some were regulars and others were new passer bys. The bell rand and I turned around to see my most regular customer walk in with a smile on his face.
He hadn't just been a daily customer, but we have been friends since middle school. We were the only friends we had, and the only friends we needed.
The skeleton went to his usual stool and began the conversation, "so, how's it goin'?".
"It's been going great, the business is doing really well. You?", I asked in return.
"ehh, nothing much as usual. But, everbody's goin' to the park later today. I was, umm, I was wonderin' if you'd want to come...", his face turned slightly blue and I giggled slightly. 'Gosh, he's so cute', I though.
"I'd love to go."
"great, I'll go tell Paps, see ya' then?"
"Yep!", I said. He turned and left the building. I realized I haven't seen Papyrus since moving to the surface. Has it really been that long?
I still remember when Papyrus was just a babybones. Sans would bring him over to play with Fuku while we studied and did homework. Guess you could say we were killing two birds with one stone, but that sounds a bit barbaric. Papyrus was about 5 years older than Fuku, but they still had fun. I remember once, when Sans and I were distracted by a school project, Fuku and Papyrus had tried to make spaghetti and when we finally went into the kitchen, the walls were practically painted red with sauce. I'm not sure how those two were able to make a mess of the entire room in the span of 15 minutes, when it had taken an hour and a half to clean up the mess. Sans kept apologizing about it and I had to keep reassuring him everything was fine. He's the nicest monster I had ever met; he rarely got mad, he was always there for me, he stood up against older kids who would push me around in the halls even if it meant he got hurt. I don't know how I was able to be this close to a monster as smart and nice he is.
I just wish we could be closer, but I know he would hate me if he knew how I really felt about him. Honestly, I've had feelings for him ever since he saved me from some kids who were trying to beat me up for who knows what.
~ flashback ~
Just as I put the last book in my bag, my locker door slammed shut, startling me and causing to jump back. Behind it stood a monster, way taller than me. He took a step towards me with a smile on his face. I stepped back, but was pushed forward suddenly. I turned my head to see a group of older kids look down at me, smiles and smirks on their faces as well.
"Hey, Fag!", the monster in front of me shouted. I looked back at him, fear evident through my glasses. "Where's your little 'boyfriend' to help you out now, huh?".
He then grabbed the collar of my shirt and slammed me against the lockers. I tried to kick out of his grasp when he raised his fist. I closed my eyes in anticipation before I heard someone yell, "Hey! Leave him alone!", I opened my eyes and saw Sans standing in the hall.
"How about you try getting that stick outta your ass first?", I tried not to laugh. The monster threw me to the ground and I landed with a yelp. Sans came to check I was alright but was picked up by the monster and held in the air. His hands were choking Sans as he raised his fist in the air, "Not so smart now, eyy fag?". His fist came down hit Sans's right eye socket. I could tell Sans was trying to get away but he couldn't breathe. I got up and ran over to them, but the monster just threw Sans at me and we both fell to the ground.
I heard them laughing as the walked away. I sat up and looked to Sans, who was coughing slightly while rubbing his neck. "S-sans! Are you alright!?", "y-yeah, i'm *cough* f-fine."
"Sans, your eye socket...", he looked at me questioningly but winced. "it's bruised..."
"it's nothing i can't handle, but, are you okay?", I went forward and hugged him tightly. "I'm fine, thank you, Sans." He hugged back.
"anything for you Grillby".
