The Light
WARNING: Do not read this story if you do not like violence!
Moonguard howled in pain as one of the enemy wolves from the Howlers pack locked his jaws around the back of her neck. She felt her own blood trickling down her body and into the beautiful green grass making it turn red. Her yellow eyes sharpened, and she jumped in the air, making the enemy wolf let her go. She growled savagely, startling her attacker and she sprung towards him, teeth bared with saliva flying everywhere. The enemy wolf yelped loudly as Moonguard sunk her teeth into his back, not letting go. She watched him die painfully, but out of the corner of her eye she saw her mate Bluescar leading the Acids pack into battle. Then she let the wolf go.
His blood stained her teeth, and within a few seconds, she was following her pack to assist them. Shadowclaw, the alpha male of the Howlers pack, led the rest of his wolves into the fight, but then she saw Bluescar run straight into him. Both wolves were sent rolling across the rough ground. Bluescar's vision blurred, this gave Shadowclaw a chance to attack. Bluescar felt sharp fangs dig into his neck. He yelped in pain and he twisted and turned trying to shake Shadowclaw off.
"Where is Moonguard?" he thought. Shadowclaw sunk his fangs deeper and soon broke Bluescar's neck. Blood soaked Shadowclaw's mouth, the salty taste brought joy to him. But when he looked up, he saw a pure white wolf with beautiful yellow eyes. Almost half of the wolf's fur was covered in blood. But with a stab of guilt, he realised who the wolf was. He dropped Bluescar's body immediately.
"Moonguard..." he said firmly. As tears started to prick in the back of Moonguard's eyes, she didn't bother to reply. She wanted revenge. Without hesitation, Moonguard lunged forward at a great speed. Shadowclaw dodged the attack and growled at her angrily. Moonguard was shocked. She realised that fighting Shadowclaw was going to be harder than she thought. She stood her ground and snarled at him, waiting for him to make a move. Shadowclaw didn't move. Both wolves glared at eachother for a very long moment. Moonguard suddenly ran forward at an alarming speed and rammed Shadowclaw into a large rock. She raked her claws down his face making him yelp in pain. Blood dripped down Shadowclaw's face slowly. But he wasn't going to let Moonguard win. He got up weakly and picked up the nearest stick with his jaws and charged at the white wolf. Moonguard dodged the attack but then realised what Shadowclaw was trying to do. She glanced up at the tall rock that she had pushed her enemy into. Then saw Shadowclaw run behind her and slam her into it. The rock cracked and fell right onto both wolves. Moonguard felt her whole body go numb. Then she looked at Shadowclaw, who was dead next to her with the stick resting under his chin. He looked... peaceful. Moonguard closed her eyes slowly, thinking of Bluescar. She wanted to open her eyes one last time, and when she did, she was shocked. She wasn't laying under a rock anymore and she wasn't numb. Moonguard got up slowly. She was surrounded by beautiful trees towering over her. And then she saw him. A gray wolf with blue eyes.
"Bluescar?!" she said in surprise and confusion.
"Follow me," Bluescar said gently. He turned around and padded forward. Moonguard followed him.
"I thought you were dead..." she said with a whimper.
"It is okay. While we're here, we can live forever," Bluescar said.
"What do you mean? We have to get back to our pack!" Moonguard said with desperation. Bluescar didn't say anything. He just kept walking until they saw a very bright light. Moonguard squinted.
"What is that?" she said.
"Please follow me, we will be happy there," Bluescar glanced at Moonguard and disappeared into the light.
"No! Come back!" Moonguard panicked and raced forward. And she too, disappeared into the light. They were both free.
