Silliness, sunsets and super cool storms
I love public humiliation. Going in front of a class with nothing prepared, always loads of fun, you know?
Today during geography (1st period) we were continuing our infographics on water access on the computer, but I wasn't actually doing the work. Instead, me and Mark were looking up various memes, ranging from Dr Who, to Christmas, to donut memes. As you can see, I'm very productive and make great use of my time. But a few minutes later, my laziness got me back- Mrs Sohal called me up to show my infographic! I was uber freaked out cause I had approximately nothing to show.
Five minutes and 3 very awkward sentences later, I was back in my seat wanting to die. Hey ground, wanna swallow me up sometime? I was terrible, full of "ums" and "ers". To be honest, the only good thing was that it was short. Had it been long and drawn-out, I may have literally died.
I was really enjoying laughing around with Mark, he is so much fun to hang out with. I may have a (very tiny... ish) crush on him, and I may also have heard that he returns it. Okay fine, I will admit it, I really like him.
Anyway, how about I move on from this, cause no one's really interested, yes?
The rest of school was fairly average, I didn't do anything toooo embarassing. Well, except walking into a tree branch en route from the bus stop to my house. I'm not proud of that particular moment, I'm just glad my sister Miriam didn't manage to video it. Have I mentioned that I am clumsy and get lost in my thoughts very often? For me, it was after school when things got more epic. One of my best friends Tanya was putting on a production of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night with her drama group which I went to see.
At 5:23, Arianna's mom picked me up, which included Arianna running down to my house and being deafened by my dog barking at her. "Intruder Alert! Intruder Alert!". For a small dog, he makes a ridiculous amount of noise, I mean seriously, he is only a miniature snchauzer pup! After I recovered from having my hearing temporarily stolen from me, I grabbed my phone and some cash and ran to the car. I was running late as usual but this time it wasn't completly my fault, I think Arianna's mom was a little bit late.
When we got to school, we noticed that there was tape across the quickest entrance to where the show was held. Being moderately sensible people, Arianna and I decided to go the way we were supposed to, however for reasons unknown, Ari's mom Jo and our friends Maria and Serafina appeared a few minutes later, struggling over the tape. Yeah, it didn't make much sense to me either. While I attempted to ignore the yummy smells coming from Maria's bag of food, I sat down down by a tree on a pillow when...
Splat.
It was raining on us. What WAS a few drops here and there very quickly turned into a heavy downpour, not particularly good conditions for viewing an outdoor performance.
"Robyn let's pray that it will stop raining!"
"Ok God, you heard her. We would really like for it to stop raining so that Tanya can perform the thing she has been working on for ages and ages, so please please please make it stop. You are awesome and powerful, so we thank you in advance for whatever you are gonna do!"
God answered our prayers, and thankfully it stopped raining! Not before Arianna and I were soaked, but we didn't mind being wet. Maria and Fin were being smart and hiding under umbrellas. Finally the play started, and I was impressed right from the start. The actors were super professional, moving in time to the music that was playing and still keeping in their characters. The girl who played Malvolio was brilliant at portraying a really arrogant male character, despite not being male herself, and I found myself laughing at her more than once!
Tanya (cast as Antonio) was also awesome, like I expected her to be. Earlier in the day during recess she'd been stress eating and panicking that "I'm going to be horrible, and stuff it up, and forget all my lines! I'll let the whole team down!" but that was clearly not the case. I knew she would be good, she is a very talented actress.
During the intermission, Arianna, Fin and I headed to the quad to run around.
"Woah. Look at the sky!"
Fin was pointing upwards, so I followed her finger up while my jaw went down. The sky was an utterly gorgeous mix of blue and pink, and way in the distance behind some trees it was on fire. I had honestly no words to describe it, except "Wow God, you have REALLY outdone yourself this time, this is outrageously beautiful!"
Seeing bats flapping around was just the icing on top of the already amazing cake.
We went back to see the rest of the performance, which was just as good, if not even better. Melodrama is awesome!
Twelfth Night ended with the actors getting people on the stage to dance, and me, Maria, Arianna and Fin attempting to hug Tanya to death. Just so my name is clear, we didn't succeed and Tanya still lives. She was brilliant, as was everyone else.
But if I am really honest, the storm was just as captivating as the play. The entire sky was purplish and grey and foreboding, and every few seconds lightning would flash from being the clouds. Standing in the quad, wide open sky surrounding me and a celestial light show going on above my head was unbelievably awe-inspiring. Storms are when I feel most alive, when my blood gets racing and I can't help but compose poetry in my head.
Boom! Crash! Rumble! Smash!
The sound of thunder fills the air.
Look once, look twice, look thrice and FLASH!
The world is trying to give is a scare.
That was one I composed a while ago. I love it because it sounds epic, especially if you read it out loud. The one I was making up today went like this:
I conduct the orchestra of the night!
Lightning there, here a flare.
I hear the crack,
I see the light,
To penetrate the deepest night!
Storms, lightning, thunder, are the playground of God, the truest display of his power I will ever see. I absolutely adore them, and they completely blow my puny human mortal mind.
