The Bounty

Spiderman has been an avenger for almost 6 months now. He's fought many battles with the team and they had all accepted him as their newest member.

Everyone respected the guy. He was a strong fighter, yet he also had the purest soul. He made them laugh and always knew how to cheer everyone up when they were down.

But, they still had no clue who's under the mask. I mean sure he sounded kind of young and was pretty skinny and awkward so they figured he was around 20-22. They didn't even know his name.

But, even with all of the spies on the team, they still trusted their masked member, even if they had no clue who he was. He had saved their lives countless times, and they would always be grateful.

Peter knew he had to tell the avengers the truth. They were his family now, he couldn't keep his identity from them. Tony and Natasha were the only ones who knew he was, but none of the others knew that.

Peter sat in the bathroom as he pulled off his mask. He had just returned from patrol and needed to patch up some of his minor injuries.

He heard a knock on the door and scrambled to grab his mask. He threw it back onto his head, his suit now on the floor.

"Hey Spidey, you've been in there awhile, you okay?"

Oh great it was Clint. Peter cleated his throat.
"Uh, yea, yep all good in here. Never better!"

Clint sighed.
"You know that's like literal code for 'I'm not good and I could use some serious help but I'm too embarrassed to ask', right?"

Peter rolled his eyes and made sure his mask was on tight, before Clint walked into the large bathroom.

He gasped when he saw Peter's bare chest, covered in cuts and bruises.
"God Spidey! How do you always manage to get yourself so beat up on your patrol. You know I still don't understand why you do that anyway."

Peter sighed and sat down as Clint grabbed the ointment and bandages.
"I've told you a hundred times Clint, I need to look out for the little guy." He said.

Clint nodded.
"I know, but how you always manage to get so beat up every time shocks me."

Suddenly they heard a shout from the living room. It was Steve.
"Clint! Spidey! Get in here!"

Peter threw on a sweater and some joggers (his mask still on of course).

They rushed to the living room where the other four team members stood, watching the news. Peter was confused, but then he read the headline.

"ANONYMOUS BOUNTY PLACED ON SPIDER-MAN"

Everyone shut up as they listened to the reporter speak.
"I am here today to discuss some very upsetting news. It appears a bounty for one million dollars has been placed on the head of New York's own vigilante, Spiderman. Although it is unclear who placed the bounty, there have already been many reports of civilians seeing posters and objects depicting Spider-Man's murder."

The TV screen changed and showed various posters of pictures of Spiderman with Xs over his eyes, or his head or even his whole body. Some had red paint dripping from them, while there were also some beheaded Spiderman plushies with messages like: 'I'm coming for you." Or "Spider-Man's a dead man walking."

Peter's eyes widened underneath his mask. He sat down onto the couch and put his head in his hands. This was so not good.

Natasha sat down beside him and rubbed circles on his back, knowing his age made her even more angry at this news.

"It's going to be okay Spidey, we're gonna figure this out." She said. Peter sighed. He shook his head.

"There's no fixing this Nat, the whole world knows about the bounty on my head now." He added.

Tony shook his head.
"There's no way anyone will get to you Spidey, we're gonna make sure of it." He smiled.

Peter smiled back and shrugged.
"I guess, I mean I've had plenty of people try to kill me before, and there was no cash reward for it either."

They all smiled yet were a little confused and shocked at Peter's words. Bucky tapped him on the shoulder.
"You never cease to surprise us Spidey."

Peter chuckled.
'Oh you have no idea." He thought to himself.

A few days went by and all was silent. No attempted murders had happened to Peter and this whole thing was starting to seem like a hoax. Until the mission alarms went off.

Everyone threw on their suits and rushed to the location of their mission. It just so happened to be in an old abandoned factory.

Tony's iron man suit lit up the dark room.
"Alright whoever's hiding I recommend you show yourself." He shouted.

Steve and Bucky followed from behind while Clint Nat and Peter were at the sides. Suddenly, Peter felt his Spidey sense go off like crazy.

"Look out!" He shouted and everyone dove to the ground, just narrowly missing a large chunk of roof that fell from the ceiling.

Clint nodded to Peter.
"Thanks man."
Peter nodded back.

A deep and gravely voice was heard from a dark corner.
"Avengers, so nice of you to make an appearance, however, I only want the bug."

Peter sighed loudly.
"Arachnid man! Come on!" He whined.

Creepy guy growled and Peter's senses warned him to get out of the way as large metal cuffs flew past his head.

"The hell are those!" Bucky shouted as they dodged some too.

Peter sighed loudly again.
"Power blocking cuffs. They like take all your powers away, trust me, not fun at all."

Everyone looked at him shocked and confused again and he just shrugged.
"What? I've been kidnapped and tortured before."

Tony sighed. God this kid gave him grey hairs.
Natasha smiled to herself. She liked the kid. He was tough, yet the kindest hearted person she had ever met. They knew the team had to find out who Peter was soon enough. Maybe once this bounty thing is sorted out.

The creepy guy ran out from the shadows and tackled Clint. Only, there wasn't just one creepy guy, no, there were 18 of them. 18!

Two tackled Clint to the ground, whole Natasha did her best to fend off two others. Tony, Bucky and Steve each had three of them to deal with, while of course, Peter had 5!

Peter sighed annoyedly once more as the multiple creepy guys surrounded him.
"Come on! This is so unfair! 5–1? Like what even is life anymore! No respect left in the world." He shook his head.

The creepy guys titled their heads, then charged at Peter anyway. He did his best to fend them off, he really did, but they were definitely enhanced and we're starting to overpower him.

He noticed that the other avengers were having a hard time too. He looked up on the walls and saw something.

Power dampeners.

They were all over the place! That's why they were having such a hard time. They had to get out of here.

"Guys! There's power dampeners in here! That's why this fight is so hard!" Peter shouted to his struggling teammates. The creepy guys growled and tackled him to the ground.

Peter felt the ground shake and watched as more rubble fell from the ceiling. The others noticed this too and they fought as hard as they could to escape.

They managed to get most of the guys off of them and as they were running to the doors, Peter was close behind.

The building was falling and the power dampeners were getting stronger, so they were getting weaker.

Tony being the one least affected helped everyone get out of the factory. Peter was the most affected since he had the most genetic mutations.

Peter coughed as he realized he couldn't breathe. He shouted to Tony.
"I need to take it off! I can't breathe!"

Tony and the others turned back. Natasha nodded, assuring him it would be okay and Peter pulled off his mask.

The avengers were shocked as they saw Spiderman, masked vigilante, an avenger, a hero, was a kid!

Their jaws dropped and Peter stood there awkwardly, kind of forgetting that the building was collapsing.

A shout from Natasha shook them all out of it.
"The building is coming down! We gotta get out!"

So they all ran as fast as they could muster, Tony flying people forward, when they finally saw the outside.

Tony was out, Clint was out, Natasha was out, Bucky was out, Steve was out, Peter...

Was almost out. He was sprinting as fast as he could, the entrance beginning to close. Suddenly a hand reached out and grabbed Peter's leg, dragging him back.

Peter screamed and kicked as the light began to fade away, and the building crushed him, with the other avengers, standing in shock outside.

Okay this is getting really long but like I don't wanna stop soooo umm I'll keep going I guess?

It took them a long time to dig him out of the rubble. Exactly 2 hours and 37 minutes. Peter had a pulse when they found him, but he was in really bad shape.

They rushed him to the med bay at the compound, their questions still with no answers as they sat in the waiting room.

"His name is Peter. Peter Parker." Natasha eventually said. "Me and Tony knew. We were gonna tell you after this mission..."

They nodded. Steve looked up.
"How old is he?" He asked sadly.

Tony sighed.
"He's 15..."

They were all shocked (god I need a thesaurus) but nodded and kept asking questions.

"His powers?" Bucky asked. They all knew what he was asking.
"Completely accidental. No experiments." Natasha said. They nodded.

"Do his parents know he does this?" Clint asked. As a parent of course he would be concerned about this.

Tony shook his head sadly.
"They died when he was 4, left him with his aunt and uncle who died a few years later. His immediate family is all gone. We're all he's got."

They nodded solemnly. (Thank you thesaurus.com) and Steve looked up and smiled.

"The kid's still a hero, who deserves to be an avenger." He said. Everyone agreed.

Then the doctor came out. He looked worried. That's never a good sign.
He looked at the avengers.

"He's alive, in awful condition, but alive."

Everyone sighed with relief.
"So he's gonna be okay?" Tony asked hopefully.

The doctor shrugged.
"At this point it's hard to tell. Those power dampeners really took a toll on him. His enhanced healing was weak compared to normal. He may have lost some of his abilities."

They were all (can you guess what I'm gonna say?) in shock. (Yep queen of repetition here)

They rushed to Peter's room, to see the injured hero sleeping peacefully. He looked awful, yet adorable at the same time.

Tony sat down beside him and ran his fingers through Peter's hair.
"Pete? Can you hear me bud?" He asked softly.

A small 'mhm' was heard from Peter as he began to open his eyes.

He felt his face and panicked a little when his mask wasn't there.
"It's okay Peter, we talked to them, everything fine." Natasha smiled. Peter nodded.

"How are you feeling Spidey?" Clint asked nervously.

Peter lowered his head.
"I-I don't know... my-my Spidey sense is gone and, everything feels so quiet now..."

Their eyes widened. Peter looked up at them with tears in his eyes.

"They're gone... my... my powers are gone."

They all ran up to him and hugged him lightly.
"It's gonna be okay Peter. You don't need your powers to be a hero." Steve said.

They were all tearing up, even Natasha as they stepped away from Peter.

Suddenly, he broke out into a fit of laughter, then held his sides in pain.
"Haha! Ooh- ow... oh that hurts- but that was hilarious! You should have seen your faces! My powers aren't gone, I was messing with you!"

If Peter wasn't in so much pain he'd be rolling on the ground right now. The avengers stared at him in... (get ready for it)... shock.

"Good god kid, you're gonna be the death of me."

Yay! That's done! Gosh I haven't written that much in so long. I hope it wasn't awful! And for the people concerned about my messed up knee I got taken out in hockey a few times, then fell down the stairs at school so I mean that's probably why the cartilage is broken. I'm sure it'll be fine... probably.
Anyways thanks for reading!
