Illusions (part 2)
since so many of you wanted it lol
alsoooo... angst again :))
and trigger warning for blood
While Peter was hugging Tony he couldn't help but feel like something wasn't right. The hug wasn't as warm and comforting as it usually was, this one felt colder and more forced. But he figured it was just his paranoia and pushed it aside.
When the two separated, Peter smiled at Tony who smiled back of course.
"Ready to head home kiddo? The team is dying to make sure you're still in one piece."
Peter nodded and held onto the suit as Tony took him home.
When they got there, Peter was swarmed with questions and hugs and concerned avengers. All of this still felt a little off to Peter though and he couldn't shake the feeling. Once again their hugs felt cold and forced, not warm like usual.
He shook the thought out of his head and realized he was still in his suit.
"I'm gonna go change real quick kay?" He told his family. They all nodded in sync, which Peter found oddly disturbing.
When he left the room he found it even more odd that there were no conversations coming from the room. The avengers never shut up, so why was it so deathly quiet right now?
His next hint that something was wrong was when he entered his room. He looked up and asked Friday something.
"Hey fri, where's my phone?" He asked.
No answer.
Now that was extremely odd. Friday was never shut off before.
Now Peter was extremely suspicious. He looked out the window and was confused again when he saw no New York traffic. It was like a ghost town out there.
He decided to leave his suit on and he opened up the window. He swung over to the rooftop of a nearby building, where he thought he would be alone.
"Karen? Are you there?" He asked cautiously. Karen's happy voice greeted him back.
"Yes Peter, How may i be of service?"
"What's up with Friday? Did dad shut her off?"
"My connection to Friday is offline." She said back confused.
Peter looked around slowly. Yep, there was definitely something wrong here. That's when it hit him. He spun around just narrowly missing an arrow that whizzed by his head.
There he saw Clint, with glowing green eyes standing on the rooftop.
"What the hell Uncle Clint!?" Peter shouted in shock. He gulped when he saw Clint's smirk and the rest of the three avengers appear beside him, all with the same glowing green eyes.
They all charged at him and Peter couldn't help but realize that he was still stuck in Mysterio's stupid illusion.
"Hey Mysterio! Come out and fight me you coward! Stop hiding behind your illusions!" Peter shouted. He was sick and tired of these mind games.
Suddenly, Mysterio appeared behind the avengers.
"I would fight you, but it's a lot more fun to let them do the fighting instead." He smirked and vanished.
Then the avengers all charged at once, leaving Peter no choice but to try and fight them all off. Steve threw his shield which hit Peter square in the chest, sending him flying into a nearby wall.
He groaned as he sat up, then just nearly dodging a bullet from Natasha's gun. He jumped back up and charged at them, webbing Steve's head and smashing it into Natasha's, knocking them out cold onto the ground.
So these fakes weren't as strong as the real deal then. Good to know.
Next, Clint shot multiple sound arrows around Peter, trapping him in a circle of ear piercing sound waves. He screamed and crumpled to the ground, holding his ears.
He weakly opened his eyes and shot a web in Clint's face and trapped his legs to the ground, then slowly managed to taser web all the arrows and blow them up. He shakily stepped forward, but didn't get very far before a repulser blast sent him back to the ground.
He groaned when saw the smouldering circle on his chest and winced. He looked up and saw his own father standing over him and pointing a repulser right at him.
"D-dad, please..." Peter pleaded, but Tony's form never shifted. He was a fake after all, completely immune to Peter's pleas.
Peter closed his eyes and accepted his fate, when all of a sudden Tony dissipated into a green smoke, as did the other avengers and Mysterio was holding him up by the collar of his suit.
Peter was too weak to fight back so he just hung there in Mysterio's grasp.
"What a wonderful sight to see the Spider-Man so weak and pathetic." He chuckled.
Peter coughed regaining the villain's attention.
"Aww does poor wittle Spider-Boy have a boo-boo. Ironman can't save you this time kid."
Suddenly Peter felt a wave of anger flow through him. He clenched his fists together, looked into Mysterio's eyes and glared at him.
"It's Spider-Man."
Then Peter shot a web in his face and flipped out of his grasp. He used taser webs and shocked the man, then webbed him up to the ground.
Mysterio lay still, and Peter really thought he had beat him, when all of a sudden, Mysterio burst out of the webbing and twelve of him surrounded Peter.
"ENOUGH!" They shouted, making Peter's wars ring. The Mysterios inched closer and closer to Peter until he couldn't move anymore.
Peter felt twelve sets of hands grab him and he squirmed around but it was no use. Peter screamed as their grasp burned his skin.
Then he was falling. Images of his loved ones filled his vision.
Uncle Ben, bleeding out in his arms.
"It was your fault."
Aunt May bloody head on her steering wheel as her car lay smashed up in a ditch.
"You could have saved them."
His parents calling from the sky in a plane that was on fire.
"You're a failure."
Ned and MJ stabbed in their homes by a robber.
"A disappointment."
His family all dead at battle, fresh wounds bleeding.
"You're never quick enough."
And finally his dad, arc reactor burnt out, covered in rubble from a fallen building.
"You killed them."
Peter's head felt like it was going to explode. He screamed a scream of pure agony as he crumpled to the floor once again.
He lay there and sobbed at the feet of Mysterio, who was very pleased with his work.
"I-It's all my f-fault. I-I should have s-saved them." Peter sobbed.
Mysterio then conjured up a gun and placed it in front of Peter.
"You really don't want anyone else to die do you? You should just kill yourself and then maybe finally everyone will be safe."
Peter nodded. Mysterio was right. He was a danger to everyone around him. He couldn't even save his family, how was he supposed to save everyone else?
Peter took a shaky hand and lifted up the gun. He slowly inspected it, feeling the cool metal against his fingertips.
"Do it Peter. End everyone's pain and just do it." Mysterio urged. Peter lifted the gun and placed it against his temple. The cool metal felt soothing on his burning head.
He took a deep breath in, finger on the trigger, when so many things rushed into his mind.
'With great power comes great responsibility."
"I am so proud of who you've become Peter."
"Don't worry Peter, one day we will see each other again."
"Peter you're not a bother, we care about you more than anything."
"You're the glue kid."
"I love you, son."
Peter slowly took the gun away from his temple as he realized that he belonged in the world, and nothing Mysterio said would change his mind.
Peter threw the gun to the floor and stood up.
"No more mind games Beck. Let me go."
Mysterio growled in anger and pulled out another gun.
"Fine! I'll kill you myself then!"
Peter smirked and webbed the gun away from the villain.
"Oh I'm sorry, did you need this?" Peter asked sweetly as he crushed the gun in his hands.
Peter shot more webs until Mysterio was wrapped up in a tight cocoon. Peter smiled at his work and delivered a punch to Mysterio's head, successfully knocking him unconscious and conveniently freeing himself from the illusion.
Now Peter stood in the same alley where he 'saved' Beck. His whole body was in pain and he slid down the alley wall and down to the ground.
Peter felt his mask and smiled slightly.
"Hey Karen." He said weakly. Karen's voice was quick and panicked.
"Peter you have several lacerations to your torso and numerous third degree burns and lots of other internal and external dama-"
Peter cut her off.
"Yea I know I feel all the lacerations. Can you call dad?" He asked. She didn't reply but he heard the ringing and then his father's worried voice.
"Peter!? Oh god is that really you? Where are you? I've been worried sick, i- why are you in an alley? Pete?" Tony panicked.
Peter gave a weak mumbled response.
"Can you come get me? I'm kinda in no shape to swing back."
He heard Tony sigh.
"I'll be there in 2 minutes."
Then the line went dead.
Peter waited until he heard what he hoped was his real dad enter the alley along with someone else. Steve probably. When he saw them he looked up slowly.
"Stop." Peter said. Tony and Steve stopped.
"How do I know you're both real and not another illusion huh?" Peter asked.
Steve and Tony looked at one another confused.
"Kid what are you talking about?" Tony exclaimed.
"Yea what the hell even if you're not real I'm about to bleed out here anyways so I'll just hope that you're gonna save me and not try and kill me again." Peter laughed.
Tony and Steve were very concerned now. Steve ran over and scooped the bleeding and fragile teen hero into his arms and they rushed back to the tower.
When they got there Peter was immediately sent to the med bay where he got fixed up. Lots of stitches and band-aids later he was laying in a bed surrounded by his family.
"Peter what happened? You were missing for two months!" Tony exclaimed. Peter only nodded.
"Two months huh? Damn that's one long time to be trapped in an endless abyss of your worst nightmares."
The team was extremely concerned (as if they weren't already) and Natasha squeezed Peter's hand.
"Pete why don't you tell us all what happened?" She asked sweetly. Peter laughed.
"No that would take too long. Let's just say don't accept drinks from people you just met."
Tony's eyes bulged.
"I TAUGHT YOU THAT 4 YEARS AGO!"
Well that was one way to end it I guess. Sorry if this wasn't what you expected but I guess it's decent. Anyways thanks for reading!! Byeeee
