I'm a Monster

Okay yeah hi, so this is like a really intense one shot. Really dark and sad and like gross I guess? Umm so yea just a heads up before you read... anyways enjoy!

Peter didn't know how he could have let this happen...

He had always been so careful...

Yet he had forgotten about one person.

One person who knew it all...

And that person ruined his life...

{flashback 2 years ago}

Peter Parker was new to this hero thing. He had only stopped a few mugging and stuff but it was enough for him to know that he was helping.

He hoped to one day be like his idols, the avengers... but that would probably never happen.

It was only about a month into this whole hero thing that he had fought his first super villain.

The Goblin.

Peter was still new so, he didn't do too well. He lost many fights, and spent late nights stitching up his wounds from the guy.

He knew he couldn't beat him...

Maybe he should give up on this hero thing...

It was only a few days later when the Goblin attacked again. Peter was still recovering from last time, and Goblin was showing no mercy.

He kicked Peter down into a corner of an alley, and held a blade to his throat. Peter gulped and prepared himself for death.

Just great, a few weeks into this hero thing and he was already going to die. But what happened was unexpected...

Goblin spoke to him for the first time.
"Spiderman, if you wish to live, tell me who you are. I won't tell anyone and I will let you live."

Peter considered his options. He could easily lie but then this guy would probably know that...

It's not like he had anyone who cared for him in his life anyways. What's it matter if this guy knew who he was. He lived in a small orphanage downtown so he was basically on his own. No one wanted to adopt a teenager.

"Peter. Peter Parker."

Just as soon as he said it, Goblin was gone. And he never bothered him again.

Until now...

{end of flashback}

Peter was adopted by the avengers 2 years later. By then the Goblin incident had completely vanished from his memory.

He was a better Spiderman then ever! His life was finally looking up.

Today was avenger bonding day too! Basically one of his favourite days ever! The whole team (Steve Bucky Clint Nat Wanda Sam and Tony) got together and played tons of board games, watched movies and did so much more stuff!

Currently, they were playing a game of monopoly when Friday interrupted.
"Boss, someone is hacking in an audio call, but the number is blocked, shall I put it through?" She asked.

Everyone stopped and Tony shrugged.
"Okay Whatever doesn't really matter. It's just a voice."

Friday took that as acceptance to put it though.

As soon as Peter heard the low gravely voice, all of his previous memories came back to haunt him.

"Hello Peter." Goblin said. The avengers froze and looked at the trembling kid. Steve got into cap mode.

"Who is this." He demanded. Goblin chuckled on the other line.

"I'm pretty sure I asked to speak to Peter." He replied. Peter clenched his fists.

"What do you want." He said, trying to sound strong. Didn't work very well though.

The Goblin made a sound of amusement.
"Peter Parker, I've left you alone long enough, the time has come, Spiderman."

Peter gulped as everyone stared at him in panic. The audio call disconnected into a chilling static.

A bunch of panicked avengers, mainly a panicked dad, questioned him.

"Who is that and how does he know about Spiderman?" Tony asked worriedly. Peter sighed.

"That's the Goblin... he, well, he basically could've killed me, should've killed me, but he didn't. He was my first actual 'villain' I guess, this was when I didn't have you guys, no one cared about me. He asked me who I was... and since I had no one to protect then, I told him..."

Natasha walked over and hugged him.
"It's okay Peter. But we need to get you to safety."

Peter nodded, but as soon as they stood, a large explosion sent them all flying back, all Peter remembers hearing before he blacked out, was his dad calling his name...

"Peter!"

{•••}

When Peter woke up, he felt groggy and sore. He looked around him after painfully opening his eyes, to see that he was strapped to a metal chair, with strong chains around his entire body.

He struggled for a bit, but knowing that was no use, decided not to waste his strength. He heard someone walk into his room and looked around to see who it was.

"Ahh Peter, I've been waiting a long time for this..." Goblin said. Peter felt chills run down his spine when the monster spoke.

"Where am I?" Peter demanded. Goblin shook his head and chuckled.

"Now, you must know how this works by now." He said. Peter glared at him. He had been kidnapped before, but by low level criminals, but this guy was a super villain.

Norman sighed.
"You know it was tough keeping you under for three weeks. But now they're all prepared."

Peter looked up in panic. Three weeks!?

"What do you mean, they?" He asked. Norman smirked.

"The players. It's time to begin the game, and you, you are the host."

Peter looked confused, but when he saw Wanda and Sam emerge from a dark tunnel, trapped in separate cages that hung from the ceiling, he panicked.

He looked at them and saw how weak they looked. They were clearly under fed and must have been tortured by the large bruises and cuts on their bodies.

When they saw Peter they managed a small smile, but it was one of pure sadness. Peter shook his head. This was all his fault! His family was trapped here because of him!

"No! Let them go! What did you do to them!?" Peter shouted as he thrashed around in his chains. He heard Wanda weakly in his mind protesting his futile attempts at escape.

Goblin tilted his head in annoyance.
"Are you done?"

Peter was embarrassed, but kept up his glare. Goblin rolled his eyes and pointed to the cages.

"Listen up! We're going to play a fun game! There will be two of your loved ones hanging from the ceilings in cages. You will pick one that you want to kill. The other will live. If you do not choose, then they both die. And don't even try the kill me instead crap, because all I want to do is break you." He smirked evilly as he came really close to Peter for the last part.

Peter gulped and shook his head.
"No! You can't make me do this!" He shouted. Goblin sighed.

"Oh Peter, now don't be greedy, it's not about you anymore. Pick. Who. Dies." He hissed.

Peter looked at his saddened teammates. They didn't speak, not wanting to make this harder on Peter. Both were praying that Peter would choose the other, as they were heroes after all.

Peter lowered his head.
"I can't... please... please don't make me do this..." he begged. Goblin walked up to Peter and picked up his chin.

"This is all your own fault Peter. If you would have just kept your identity secret, well then none of this would be happening." Goblin fake pouted.

Peter turned his head away. He shook his head.

Goblin sighed.
"Oh well then, they both die."

As he pressed a button, two machine guns came out of the walls and shot multiple bullets into both heroes, until they both lie, dead, in their cages.

Peter screamed.
"NO! YOU MONSTER HOW COULD YOU!?"

Goblin laughed.
"I'm not the monster Peter, you are."

Peter looked away in shame. It was true. All of this was his fault... he couldn't let everyone die... he had to pick...

Next Natasha and Clint emerged in the same situation as Sam and Wanda. When they saw Peter's look, they knew what had happened.

"Now, you don't want to make the same mistake as last time, do you?" Goblin asked. Peter shook his head as tears flowed down his face.

He made eye contact with Natasha first, her solid face not letting anything slip except for a hint of sympathy for Peter. Peter hated that, he doesn't deserve sympathy... he's a monster...

Then he looked at Clint and saw the same expression. Damn super spies...

Goblin cleared his throat.
"Remember to say the name of the one you want to kill."

Peter gulped. He couldn't look at his family as he spoke brokenly.
"I'm... I'm sorry... I can't let both of you die too... I'm so sorry. I'm sorry..."

Goblin yelled as he held the trigger menacingly.
"HURRY UP!"

Peter flinched but spoke quietly.
"C-Clint..."

The sound of bullets ripping through flesh made Peter squeeze his eyes shut. Clint's screams would forever be engraved into his mind.

He needed to save Natasha... she always knew how to help him, and once this was over... if this was ever over, he would need her...

Natasha didn't say a word as her cage went back into that room.

Goblin smiled.
"Good, that wasn't so hard now was it?"

Peter glared at him. That was the hardest thing he had ever done.

Next his eyes widened in fear as he saw Steve and Bucky emerge, looking worse off then the other 4. They must have tried to get out and got punished really bad. They looked awful.

Peter gulped as he looked at Bucky and Steve. Neither said anything, just nodded at Peter as if they were trying to assure him that everything was okay...

But nothing was okay! He was a monster! A monster!

More tears fell as he looked into the eyes of both his uncles. He cried as he shakily spoke.
"B-B-Bucky..."

He squeezed his eyes shut again as more bullets shot at Bucky. Another scream... that he would never be able to forget.

Steve said nothing as his cage left the room. Peter trembled in fear as he hoped this would be over soon. He had killed 4 members of his family already... he was a monster...

But he wasn't expecting the next two who came out. It made him scream and thrash around at what he saw.

MJ and Ned.

His only two friends, who knew about Spiderman, sitting in a cage, bruised and bloody. Peter shook his head violently as he sobbed.

"No! You... you can't make me do this! Please I-I can't.. they're my best friends... I can't choose..." Peter sobbed.

Goblin growled in annoyance.
"Choose or I'll kill them both!"

MJ began to speak. Her voice was rough, like she had been crying.
"Peter, Listen to me... it's gonna be okay, you have to choose, we will never hold this against you, okay?"

Peter shook his head. No. No. No, he was a monster! He was murdering his family!

Then Ned spoke.
"Peter, it's going to be okay, we love you buddy, nothing can change that."

Peter's voice broke from his sobs.
"I-I love you guys too... I-I'm so sorry..."

Ned and MJ nodded slowly.
"It's okay... it's okay." MJ said.

Peter couldn't bare to look at his best friends. Who does he pick!? He loves MJ, but Ned has been there for him since day one!

Peter looked up with tears flowing constantly now, but no sobs escaping his mouth.
"I love you MJ... and I'm sorry..."

"Michelle..." he cried.

Peter sobbed as the bullets shot through Michelle and she fell dead in the bottom of her cage. Ned was crying, but said nothing as he returned where the others were.

Goblin walked up to Peter.
"Good job Peter, you're almost done. One last pick... and for this one, we get to do something special."

The Goblin put a gun on the floor and walked into a separate bullet proof glass windowed room. Then he opened two doors. Out walked, handcuffed, everyone he had chosen to save, all too weak to try and escape.

Then out the other door, Tony limped in the room with handcuffs on too. He looked horrible. Worse than anyone else. Peter cried when he saw his dad and struggled against his chains.

"I'm sorry dad! I'm so sorry! I'm sorry..." Peter cried. Tony shushed him softly.

"It's okay Peter, none of this is your fault." Tony said. Peter wanted to yell. This was all his fault. He was a murderer. A monster!

Then Peter felt the chains release. He slowly got up, ignoring the pain from having being tied up for three weeks. He looked around, confused.

Goblins voice entered the room.
"Peter, this is the final round. You will choose to either kill your father, Tony Stark, or everyone who you have saved so far. And you will do so with the gun in front of you. Don't try and shoot me, the room is bullet proof and then I'll just kill them all. And don't try and kill yourself, or else I will kill them all anyways. It's your choice Peter."

Peter shook his head. No. No. This can't be happening. Tony's voice snapped him out of his thoughts.

"It's okay Peter. You can do this. All you need to do is pick up the gun and shoot me right here. You're strong son, I know you can do this." Tony said as he pointed to his chest.

Peter shook his head.
"N-No! I can't kill you dad!"

Tony nodded.
"Yes you can, and you need to, otherwise no one will ever get out of here." He said.

Peter cried softly.
"But dad... I already killed too many. It's my fault they're gone... Sam, Wanda, Bucky, MJ..." he trailed off.

Tony smiled at Peter sympathetically.
"It's okay son, I want you to do this okay? Just look in my eyes the whole time. I love you Peter, I know you can do this."

Peter nodded slowly as he picked up the gun. He noticed that there was only one bullet. He cocked the gun, as Natasha had showed him, and shakily pointed it at his dad's chest.

Tony spoke softly.
"It's okay, calm down Pete, just look me in the eyes. You're strong, you can do this. I'm so proud of you Peter. You're more than I could have ever deserved. I love you, so much. And I want you to do this. Do it for me."

Peter nodded as he steadied his hand.
"I-I love you too dad... I'll always love you... you're the best dad I could have ever dreamed of having..."

Tony smiled as he held Peter's gaze. Time slowed as the bullet flew through the air and went right through Tony's heart. Tony fell to the floor, dead, and Peter fell to his knees sobbing.

The handcuffs on everyone else were released and they got to Peter as fast as they could and held him close. Natasha rubbed his hair and whispered to him.

"It's okay Peter, it's over now... it's over..."

No one knew how long they stayed like that. But when they stood up, Goblin was gone and a door showing sunlight had opened.

{•••}

Peter was broken. He believed he was a monster for so long. He could barely contain himself. The screams of his family plagued his dreams, but the sounds of his fathers calming voice helped calm them.

He still knew he was a monster, a killer, but he was getting better.

One day, Tony's voice approval would overpower the screams that filled his mind. He still had some family left, and you better believe he will do anything to protect them.

Oh good lord that was the most intense thing I've ever written. I'm so sorry guys. But like I promise I'm not a psychopath. Anyways.... umm I know you didn't enjoy so I won't say that... uhh thanks for reading?  Bye!
