Seven | Scout

We stared at each other for a while.

It was...weird.

I was about to break the silence when someone else did it for me.

"Ahem."

I turned to see who it was.

Trent.

He scowled at the close proximity between me and Cole, which might I add, had to happen or else I wouldn't have been able to tend to his injuries.

I sighed, closing my eyes briefly, knowing he was going to make a big deal out of this.

"Cole, this is Trent, my boyfriend."

"Trent, this is my friend, Cole." I introduced them.

Cole stood up and extended his arm out to Trent, "Nice to meet you, man."

"I bet it is," Trent replied, folding his arms with a smug look on his face.

"Don't be a jerk, Trent." I chimed in, pressing my hand to my forehead and sighing.

"I was only joking, any friend of my girlfriend is a friend of mine." he gave Cole a firm handshake.

They both stared at each other until Eli's squeaky voice from the other side of the clearing broke the silence.

"Hey, Cole, come check this out!" Eli called, unaware of the tension in the air.

I was thankful - I needed to talk to Trent alone.

"I'm gonna-" Cole pointed in Eli's direction.

"Yeah," I breathed out, putting away the first aid kit and watching Cole go.

"Didn't know you couldn't take a joke, Scout," Trent said sarcastically, coming closer to me.

"Maybe that's because I know you weren't joking, Trent." I fired back.

I couldn't do this in front of everyone, so I gestured for him to go into my tent, so we could hash things out in a somewhat private place.

He huffed as he got inside. I could practically feel the waves of his unnecessary wrath hit me.

This was not good.

I knew exactly what was up, but I wanted to hear it from him, so he could listen to how stupid and jealous he sounded himself.

"Why are you so angry?" I asked, sitting down away from him.

Trent laughed sarcastically at my question. He ran his hand through his hair and fixed me in a stare that could have frozen the Pacific. He snarled rather than speaking.

"Why am I angry? You tell me, Scout? I come in here to see you, my girlfriend, stroking some other guy's leg!" he exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air.

"What, like this?" I stroked his leg, laughing.

"Stop," he said, rolling his eyes at me and removing my hand from his leg.

"Okay but seriously, I was just bandaging him up, he took quite the hit today, you know," I explained, turning to fully face him.

He pulled me onto his lap, "Yeah, but you should've seen the way he looked at you. Not that I can blame him but-".

I interrupted him with a short peck on the lips, "Babe, there's nothing to worry about, I definitely don't like him, nor will I never."

"I only have eyes for you."

The next thing I knew, he had slammed his lips against mine. The kiss was fiery and passionate. My arms reached up and tangled around his strong neck.

But I pulled away abruptly, still thinking about the altercation less than a couple of minutes ago.

"What?" He asked, breathless and distracted.

I sighed.

"Just try and be nice to him, okay?" I reasoned.

"Yeah, yeah." He shut me up with another kiss.

I wasn't sure if he got the message or not.

But right now I was too busy enjoying his body against mine to care.

Eventually, we got out of my tent and re-joined the group, who seemed to be having a heated discussion about something.

Trent and I arrived, hand in hand and took a seat.

They all suddenly stopped and stared at each other awkwardly.

"What were you guys talking about?" I questioned, leaning into Trent's shoulder.

"We were just talking about yo-" Eli began.

Noah quickly covered his mouth and finished the sentence for him, "Your fashion sense!"

"Yes! We were talking about how I love it and Noah here, he hates it." Daisy exclaimed, shaking her head wildly.

He turned to look at Daisy and I could've sworn he looked like he had no idea what she was talking about.

"I-I do! Yeah, we really need to buy you some new clothes, Scout," he said scratching the back of his neck awkwardly.

Trent and I looked at each other and then at them in confusion.

We went along with it but I wasn't going to let Noah off that easy.

"Okay, well, in that case, I guess we could go tomorrow, and you could buy me some new clothes? Since you think my fashion sense is so bad?" I teased, laughing.

Noah's mouth hung wide open.

"Help a friend out?" I pouted.

"Yeah, totally. That's exactly how I want to spend my hard-earned money." Noah nodded through gritted teeth, sarcasm dripping from his words.

Daisy stepped on his foot while beaming like an angel, causing him to wince in pain and attempt to smile back at me.

Just as I was about to comment on how weird they were being, and how they were obviously lying, Olivia spoke up,

"So Cole, is there anything you wanted to ask us?"

"What kind of food do you guys make here? I'm starving." Cole laughed.

"We don't have any leftovers from dinner but I'll grab you some snacks." Olivia offered, getting up to fetch them.

"Thanks, Olivia. You're a real one." Cole called out.

Meanwhile, Daisy rambled on about our meals, which was a given since she was such a foodie.

If anyone mentioned food, Daisy was there - front and centre. She was generally a quiet person, but when it came to food, there was no stopping her, she could talk about it for ages.

In her defence, she did make the best food out of all of us, by a long shot. Everyone always looked forward to meals whenever it was her turn to cook.

Just thinking about her cooking made me hungry.

As the conversation flowed, I couldn't help but think back to that awkward encounter with the others when Trent and I had left the tent.

To say it was weird was an understatement.

I don't know what they were talking about, but I sure as hell knew they weren't talking about my fashion sense.
