Chapter 9
And so the story continues. I wonder what happens next...seriously, I don't know. I have to figure it out.

He came back. Gladion came back to her and he seemed fine at first until he walked over to her. She was sitting with her back against a wall, head resting on her knees.
He sat in front of her and pulled her into a hug and that was when he broke down crying. He cried into her hair and she too began to let tears roll down her her face. She rested her head on his chest and clung tightly to his shirt.
Gladion was stroking her hair and ran his fingers through it, separating the strands. He sat there crying for a long time. Brendan and May had long since gone back home. They said they'd be back later with their outfits for the contest spectacular if Lisia had finished them.
Once Gladion had let go of all of his tears, he pulled her even tighter towards him and kept his hands embedded in her hair. She too had stopped her crying, but the silence that loomed over the two was soon broken.
"(Y/n)? Why...why'd you do it? She was your friend. Sun and Hau too. They're dead too. (Y/n) why? Why did you kill them," he said. (Y/n) flinched. She had no answer for the unexpected accusations. Gladion thought she killed his sister.
(Y/n) hadn't even told him about the horrible nightmare that she'd had nor did he know of the terrible things that Arceus had told her.
"W-what are you talking about?" she asked hoping that he Arceus hadn't already convinced him that she had done something so unthinkable. He let go of her with hurt in his eyes as he stared at her.
"You knew they were gone before I told you. I called this morning before you woke up. You knew already. Why did you already know?" he said. She could hear the faint but noticeable hatred in his voice. It was the kind that he used when he was talking to someone like Faba back at Aether. (Y/n) just shook her head.
"It's not like that. I meant to tell you as soon as I woke up but when you weren't there, I panicked a little," she tried explaining. Gladion backed away from her and stood glaring at her.
"Why did you do it? What was it that they did? Or are you going to tell me that you didn't kill them!? I trusted you. Not only that but we've been best friends for a while now. I even...I fell in love with you, (y/n). Why did you kill them? Why did you betray me?" he said quietly but harshly. (Y/n) was shaking her head at him as she began to cry.
She couldn't tell Gladion that she hadn't killed them because she didn't even know if she had or hadn't. Yes, she had no recollection of purposely harming her friends but in a nightmare that she'd had earlier, Lillie, Sun, and Hau were all there and dead. She wondered then if she had anything to do with it since she was the ruler of the dream realm which included nightmares.
"I'm sorry but.." she started to say but Gladion immediately cut her off
"No, (y/n). I don't want to hear it. You've really wounded me. I haven't felt this bad since...I need to go. I'm leaving," Gladion said. He turned his suddenly cold glare away from her, went to his room to gather a few things, and he left.
He went straight out of the door and (y/n) didn't stop him. She knew from experience that talking to him or trying to reason with him in such a state was likely to fail.
All she could do was hope that he came back. She had just gotten him and now he was being torn away from her. She sobbed at the thought of him leaving permanently. Once she'd composed herself, she called out Ryoko.
"Ryoko I need your help to find Gladion. Please before it's too late," she told her faithful pokémon. The two of them headed out in search for the blonde boy.
After some searching, they found him but he was with some people that (y/n) had long sense identified as trouble makers. They were wearing the same outfits that the group of people in Lilycove were wearing.
She put Ryoko back into her pokéball and stealthily got closer to them so that she can see what the people were saying to him. Once she was behind a tree, she was able to hear their conversation.
"I told you that I refuse your offer so leave me alone already. I don't want to join your stupid organization. You people don't know what you're doing anyway," Gladion was saying.
"Team Magma is going to help people by creating more places for them to live. We intended to expand the land so that there will be less sea because the sea is our enemy. We can't build that many houses on the sea because it is too treacherous. You don't seem to understand the good in what we are doing here," the woman in a strange red suit said.
(Y/n) wanted to tell Gladion something. She wanted to remind him not to listen to anyone's lies. They were obviously out of their minds, this Team Magma.
"I don't care. Whatever you think you're doing is none of my business. I already know about your previous missions. You've already stolen from people and even threatened others. I would never want to be apart of any group that does that," Gladion said as he turned away from them to leave. He thankfully didn't see her from behind the tree where she was hiding.
"What makes you think we were going to let you off easily. You're a strong trainer and we need your help to get rid of our rivals Team Aqua who intend to expand the sea. You have someone that you want to protect. I can tell. We will be taking you with us. Leader Maxie will want to meet you," the guy in the weird red suit said.
"I've already defeated your pokémon. What makes you think you can take me by force?" Gladion said as he looked back at them without turning around.
"You haven't beaten me yet and your pokémon are not in good shape right now. Even with each of them still being able to fight, their low hp from being through two consecutive battles won't allow you to win against me," a red headed man said as he stepped from out of the background.
"L-leader Maxie!" the previous two said as they gave salute. Maxie waved his hand at them to signal them to stop.
"So you're this so called leader. I was honestly expecting a little more than just you," Gladion said as he turned around to face Maxie.
"These grunts were quite right. You are a strong trainer indeed but you lack discipline and respect for authority. You would be a very valuable addition to my team. If you would please follow me, we will not have to use any force," Maxie said.
"Not again...this can not be happening again," (y/n) whispered to herself. Gladion had long since told her about how he was forced to help Lysandre back in Kanto.
"I'm sorry, were you saying something? I was too busy paying attention to more interesting things," Gladion said. (Y/n) held back a laugh. Gladion could be pretty humorous at times.
"I see. So it's going to be that way. Must I show you the power of Team Magma?" Maxie said. He was about to pull out a pokeball but Gladion saw it coming.
"I don't have time to play your games. I'll be on my way," Gladion said and he turned to way away, but Maxie stopped him.
"You're a trainer, right? Don't you know that you can't refuse a battle?" Maxie said.
"If you haven't noticed by now, I break rules," Gladion quickly responded, his back still turned towards the Team Magma leader.
"Do not walk away from me, child," Maxie commanded as if Gladion had no choice but to obey him.
"I am no child. I'll have you know that I'm 19 years old so I suggest you get that strait," Gladion said threateningly and he began to walk away. (Y/n) saw Maxie pull out the pokeball anyway as Gladion walked away.
Of course Gladion hadn't noticed this because his back was turned to him as he released his pokemon Camerupt. Gladion must have been too deep in his thoughts because he didn't notice or maybe it was just that he was too far away to notice. (Y/n) couldn't move from her spot behind the tree because Maxie and his followers would notice her.
"Camerupt, do me a favor and use Solar Beam. Your target is that ignorant boy over there," Maxie said. (Y/n) had no time to think about her actions. Pokemon moves were not meant to do harm to people and a move like Solar Beam could be pretty harmful. She darted towards Gladion and shouted his name while Camerupt charged. The beam shot towards its target but was blocked by someone in its way.
