Does anyone have any questions about this story so far? If you do, just let me know.

He could feel (y/n) start to shake in his arms. He held her as close to him as he possibly could in his arms and he glared at Zinnia. She didn't seem to understand why he was being so protective of (y/n).

Yeah, she was immortal and he was too, but that didn't change the fact that she could still be hurt. She could still feel pain and she could still suffer just like anyone else.

He wasn't entirely sure what would happen if anyone tried killing her, but he didn't want to find out. Zinnia was pushing his limits and he was about to lash out at her. He promised (y/n) that he wouldn't do this anymore because he could really hurt someone's feelings if not worse and he was about to break that promise.

"You of course have the option to refuse me. That doesn't mean I won't try coming for you again though. I would like to know your name before I leave. What is it?" Zinnia said.

Gladion looked from the woman to (y/n). (Y/n) only buried her face into his chest even further, but in his mind he heard he say, "It's okay. You can tell her my name."

He looked at the woman, Zinnia, who returned his look with expectancy.

"Her name is (y/n). My name is Gladion, and you won't be sacrificing anyone to some random lord," Gladion said quite harshly. Zinnia looked down to the ground.

"I see. I was hoping that you wouldn't say that. I'll give you another chance some other time. I have to go find some more things before I am able to summon Lord Rayquaza anyway. You'll see sooner or later," Zinnia said.

She looked up towards the sky and then she turned around and walked away as if nothing had just happened. May and Brendan ran towards them.

"Are you guys okay?" Brendan asked. Gladion was still hugging (y/n) close to him.

"Yeah, we're fine," she managed to mutter. She had stopped shaking now, but Gladion could tell that something had startled her badly.

"I don't think it's a good idea for us to head out right now. We can go to my place for a bit before we take you two home," May suggested.

"Sounds good to me," Gladion responded. The plan seemed to ne the best course of action at the moment. Brendan simply nodded in agreement.

"My house isn't far from here. We just need to follow this path a little further and we'll be there," May said. (Y/n) tried pulling away from him a little but gave up when he refused to let her go.

"I think I'm going to change into a much more adventure fitting outfit. I don't want a lot of people recognizing me too easily," Brendan said.

"I'll do the same because apparently there's something wrong with my skirt!" May said as she glared at Brendan who laughed nervously. Gladion released (y/n) once he was absolutely sure that Zinnia was truly gone and they both followed May and Brendan to May's house.

"Uh, May, I'll meet you guys there, I need to go to my house first," Brendan suddenly spoke.

"Wait, you can't go by yourself. That Zinnia lady might kidnap you and sacrifice you or something!" May said hysterically. May was right. They didn't know if Zinnia was truly out of the area and none of them knew whether or not she would settle for one of the contest stars instead of (y/n).

He could send May with him because she had to take them all to her house and if Zinnia really was waiting for them there, (y/n) could not be there either.

"I guess I could go with him since it makes the most sense," Gladion said with his arms crossed. He was reverting back to his usual antisocial attitude. He wasn't sure if he could trust Brendan, not that he seemed like a bad person, but because his father might trick him into spilling information about (y/n) if he were to ever find out.

"Oh, no you don't have to. My Pikachu can handle just about anything until I get home. I'll be..." Brendan was saying but he was cut off by May who went over to him and started shaking him by the shoulders while saying, "You idiot! Do you want to be sacrificed to some lord that probably isn't even real! What is wrong with you!!"

He heard (y/n) laugh again at their childish actions. He thought it was funny too but he didn't laugh. It would ruin his reputation to laugh in the public where not that many people knew him that well.

"Okay! Okay! Just stop shaking me! You're giving me a headache, May!" Brendan complained. When that was over, the four of them continued on and parted ways when the road split into two.

Gladion looked behind him just to make sure he was making the right choice. (Y/n) seemed to get along with May already because they were having a full conversation. He and Brendan just walked in silence for a while. They made it to his house and Brendan unlocked the door using his keys that he kept in his pocket. Brendan apparently lived alone.

"You're welcome to sit anywhere you like while I go change. Umm...there's food in the fridge so just make yourself at home," Brendan said before rushing upstairs.

Gladion appreciated his hospitality but he had no intention on getting anything from the fridge. It might not have been obvious to others but he could certainly tell that Brendan was struggling.

He knew this because he had been in the same situation back in Alola when he'd first moved back there. It was hard getting by on just pokémon battles and something told him that being a contest star didn't pay as much either. When Brendan came back downstairs he tooked at Gladion like he was scared of something.

"H-hey, Gladion. Can I ask you something?" Brendan said looking down. Something was clearly bothering him. Gladion decided to try throwing in a little humor with his reply.

"Well you just did, but you're welcome to ask another question," he said.

Brendan actually laughed a little and then said, " Are you and (y/n)...well, um are you her...?" he was saying.

N"If you were asking whether or not we are dating then yes we are," Gladion said now curious of why he wanted to know.

"Oh, well umm. Can I ask for your advise?" Brendan said looking up from the ground just a little. Gladion didn't have advise but Brendan seemed like he could use even the smallest bit of information. He shrugged forgetting that Brendan wasn't looking at him but Brendan continued on anyway which didn't bother Gladion.

"When did you tell her?" he asked finally looking directly at him. Brendan made his way to the couch where Gladion was sitting and sat next to him.

"What do you mean when did I tell her?" her asked. He was truly puzzled by Brendan's question.

"When did you confess to her?" he said. Gladion paled a little and Brendan must have noticed because his expression changed from a scared one to a worried one.

"I don't really think you want to know," he said as he thought about the terrible events that happened a year ago in Kanto.

"Aww, come on. Please, I need to know how to do it right because if I don't, I'll miss out on a beautiful opportunity," Brendan pleaded.

"With your choice of words, I highly doubt you need my help, but if you really must know, I told her after I umm...almost died," Gladion said bluntly. He didn't mean to be so blunt but Brendan had asked so he told him. Brendan stared in shock at him.

"Y-you almost died?" Brendan asked. Gladion just nodded not wanting to elaborate.

"If you don't mind, I would like to get going. I don't exactly feel comfortable talking about that," Gladion said. Brendan nodded and he got up heading for the door.

Once the two of them were outside, Brendan said, "May's house is back that way. We just need to go back the same way we came." Before they could start their journey to May's home, Zinnia showed up out of nowhere again.

"Aww, I was hoping to see (y/n). I wanted to battle her too. No worries though. I'm sure you two will listen to me. Just give me a chance to explain myself," Zinnia said as she grinned at them. Gladion was now very glad that he hadn't sent (y/n) instead of going himself.
