The Librarian- Part One

A/N: Part Two will be up ASAP. Dedication to TheBestMonthEver. She knows why. *creepy smile* NOW ENJOY!!!

-----

Harry's job was usually quiet. Which was good. He liked quiet. So when a group of teenagers thought the Library was a good place to hang out Harry got a little bit annoyed. But he couldn't exactly do anything about it. For one, he was too awkward to ask them to be quiet and secondly, they weren't breaking any rules.

They were just louder then Harry liked the Library but unfortunately for Harry they weren't loud enough he could kick them out.

Just as Harry shook away thoughts of the irritating group, they walked in the doors of the Library...

Harry sighed as he watched the group- all around his age (19)- collapse on the mass of beanbags that were in the centre of the from, for people wanting to enjoy a good book, Harry thought with a glare in the direction of the group.

"Ugh" Glancing to the side, Harry saw Jess, another Librarian.

She was setting down a stack of books as she looked at the group of people. She shared his annoyance with them, Harry knew she liked quiet too.

He slung an arm around her shoulder, nodding, she sighed and leaned into the taller boy. Harry smiled down at his friend.

She was pretty, Harry supposed, black hair up in a ponytail, freckles splattered across her cheeks, warm chocolate brown eyes, and cutely short compared to him. Although he and Harry were liked brother and sister. Also, it was no secret that Harry bat for the same team as her.

"Oh God" She groaned in irritation, turning to bury her face in Harry's chest as if she was having the worst day ever.

"What?" Harry asked in worry, placing a hand on her back to hug her closer.

"The group grew" Jess sighed once again before pulling away from Harry and getting back to work.

Harry looked over and found she was right. The group had gone from five- three boys and two girls- to six. Another boy had joined them. Harrybwould have groaned in protest like Jess but he became to stars truck by the new boy to even breathe properly.

The boy was... He was... Just wow. Tossed feathery light brown hair. Sun-kissed skin. And from what Harry could see, blue eyes? Maybe green. His outfit made him look even hotter in Harry's opinion. A tight fitting white top, showing a toned chest and arms. Then loose around the waist badge chinos, and to add to it he had a killer smile.

As cliché as it was Harry's knee trembled and he was a tad light headed.

Just then, unluckily for Harry, Jess came back. She dumped another arm load of precious books were placed on the table. She took one look at Harry's face and smirked.

"Which one?" She whispered, stepping closer to Harry just in case anyone heard.

"Newbie" He replied simple, with a slight shrug.

Jess briefly looked over "Understandable. Want me to find out his name for you?"

"Why wouldn't I be able to get it myself?"

Jess gave Harry her best 'really?' look and he just nodded.

"Isn't that a little stalking though?" He frowned slightly.

"Need I remind you of your last crush, Daniel?" She smiled, wiggling her eyebrows at her friend.

"Shu'up" He shoved Jess a little, making her laugh "And.... Get that name" Harry whispered the last part in a rush before picking up an arm full of books and getting to work (he was on sorting and shelving duty).

Jess chuckled before picking up the stack of books she was expected to put away. On the way past the group she 'tripped' and as hoped Newbie and a few of the others in the group went over to help.

Harry watched as Newbie helped her up and they started talking. When Jess offered her hand Harry smiled, she was the bestest best friend.

~ ~ ~

A little over a week passed and Harry became accustomed to watching Louis (as Jess had found out the handsome newbie was called)

Although he made sure to watch from a distance as he went about his job, stacking, sorting, shelving and reading... Okay maybe the last wasn't exactly in the job description but not only did Harry get to read but it was easier to watch Louis from the corner of his eye when 'reading'.

Harry smiled as he entered the Library. His smile quickly changed into a pout as he realised today was Wednesday. The only day the group didn't come to the Library to hang out.

He chuckled to himself because just a few weeks ago this was his favourite day due to the same reason it was now his least favourite. Well, crushes make you feel weird things.

He silently cursed himself for picking Sunday-Wednesday working days. Not that it made a difference. He spent most of his free time in a Library anyway.

Oh well, he thought with a shrug as he stood behind the desk. Usually he'd be stacking and sorting but Nick- a friend of Harry's who normally worked the desk- was ill.

Harry wasn't surprised when basically no one entered the Library. A few regulars that liked to sit and read came in but other them no one.

He couldn't understand why people didn't come to Libraries anymore. Books are wonderful. How can anyone not want to explore this place? It confused Harry as he loved to come here. It was by far his favourite place.

Then again, his had social lives, he guessed. His social life was the group of people who worked in the Library (Jess, Nick and the manager Liam) and honestly he was happy with his little group.

As weird as it was Harry grew up with books are his only friends. And it may surprise people but he perfectly content with that. He had a small group of close friends and countless books two feed his passion for reading.

Although Harry's heart did have one other desire. To love and be loved by his perfect man. That thought led Harry to think about his not so little crush on Louis.

He spend the rest of the day staring off into space about the boy he hardly knew.

~ ~ ~

The next day Nick was ill again and Harry made a mental note to go and see how he was a little bit later. He'd text first.

Jess was on desk duty since Nick was ill and Liam was stacking and sorting with another employee that Harry didn't know because Liam hired her last week and hadn't stopped talking to her to give Harry a chance to introduce himself Danielle he thinks her name is.

Harry waved to Jess, not really in the mood to chat with her like he normally does. Today he just wanted to sit down with a book and forget about world itself and everyone in it.

So that was what he did. He grabbed his latest book choice- Lost City by Clive Cussler- he then dragged a beanbag to what everyone, include ping himself, referred to as his corner before sitting down to read.

All too soon he was distracting by a voice saying, rather loudly, that a beanbag was missing and there wasn't enough for all of them.

"Have mine, I'll go ask for another" Another voice said. This voice made Harry's stomach flip. Louis.

Harry heard footstep and about a minute or so later Jess was calling out.

"Haz!" it was the only time that anyone was allowed to shout and disobey the KEEP QUIET rule. When a visitor needs help, shouting is allowed if needed.

Harry sighed and hived himself up, placing his bookmark in book on his way to the desk.

When he arrived he purposely avoided looking at Louis. "Yes?"

"Give up the beanbag for today. Louis needs it and I can get Liam to order some more" Jess smiled, nodding, acting very professional.

He could feel Louis eyes on him and that when Jess made a funny face and mouthed 'Get in there Haz'.

Harry nodded, to her actual words not the words she spoke silently, and finally looked at Louis.

When he saw the other boy one word came to mind. Adorkabke.

He had a dark blue top with white stripes, black skinny jeans, a beanie and glasses- how freaking cute!

Harry smiled and gestured with his hand for Louis to follow him.

Despite the fact Harry liked quiet, he also liked the fact Louis was quick to start a casual conversation. A conversation Harry managed to survive and not be his normal awkward self.

"So, you work here?" The boy in the beanie asked, showing off that killer smile that made Harry's heart ache, but in a good way.

"Yup. Sunday to Wednesday" Harry couldn't help but smile in return.

"So, today's a day off for you?"

"Mm-hmm. I like to spend my free time here" Harry hoped Louis didn't find that weird.

Wait, stupid brain, he hangs out here too, Harry frowned to himself.

"Cool. I love to read, but I tell my friends I'm here for the same reason as them" Louis nodded to himself, like it all made sense.

"And what's that?" Harry asked curiously as they reached his corner.

"The lads are here for the lovely Jess and me and the ladies are here for the sexy curly haired Libraian" He winked as he mentioned Harry.

Harry blushed and quickly retrieved the beanbag from the floor.

"So you're into guys?" Harry rose an eyebrow, hoping it wasn't too direct a question.

"Yeah, erm... Sorry if that makes you uncomfortable... I'm rather open about my sexuality... But some people aren't okay with people like me. Are you ok... With people like me?" Louis sounded nervous and broke eye contact as he took the beanbag and looked anywhere but Harry. Adorable awkward.

Although Harry had to laugh at what Louis was saying. It really was too funny and rather cliché. His crush, Louis, liked guys but was worried that Harry, another guy who liked guys, was homophobic!

Harry calmed his laughter after seeing Louis cute confused face.

"I'd be a major hypocrite if I wasn't okay with it" Harry smiled at the other boy.

It took Louis a moment but when he got it his face lit up like a kid at Christmas that got exactly what he wanted.

"We'll, seems I have more chance then the girls" He winked again before adding "Thanks for the beanbag" He then began to walk away.

"Wait, I though you said you just told your friends that?" Harry was lost. Did Louis mean it?

"That what I said" Louis nodded "Bye Hazza"

The. He left. And Harry was left utterly confused.

Was he joking? Or flirting? How did he know Harry's name? And when did he come up with a nickname for the curly haired boy?

Harry knew one thing for sure. He just fell a little bit more for Louis. Okay, maybe more then a little bit.

~ ~ ~

From his corner Harry could hear a lot of the groups conversation. Louis wasn't kidding when he said those guys were here to check out Jess.

One thing was for sure, Harry did not approve of the Stan and Luke guys. They used words like 'tapable' to describe his might-as-well-be-sister, they also went on about Jess' ass. Niall, the other guy who had an amazing Irish accent, on the other hand described Jess as 'beautiful' and 'pretty'. Harry approved of him. Maybe he should convince Jess to talk to him.

Harry the. Heard his name being said by one of the girl (Taylor, Harry believes her name is) He listens more closely to their words.

"Do you thinks they're together?" The Taylor girl asks

Harry's eyes widen to the size of saucers. Does she mean him and Jess?! Jess is pretty, and has an amazing personality but she was little a sister to Harry. Not to mention the fact he's gay!

After the girls ridiculous question a musical laughter fills the air making Harry get metaphorical butterflies in his stomach as a chill runs down his back.

"No" Louis said, still laughing.

The girl clearly took offence to that and Harry guessed she and Louis weren't exactly best friends.

"And why's that?" She asks, harshly as she gets all defensive.

Harry was beginning to dislike this girl himself.

"Because, Taylor, from chat with the lovely lad I know he's not interested in her" well that tone confirmed what Harry thought about their friendship. If there was any friendship because it didn't sound like there was.

"What do you know that we don't, Tommo?" The other girl asked (She was called Megan or Maggie. Something with an M...)

"Nothing, Meg, Nothing at all" The smirk in his voice was undeniable and Harry heard the girl laugh.

"Sure, Tommo, Sure" Sarcasm leaked from her tone making the group and Harry chuckle slightly.

Tommo? Harry wondered, he definitely wanted to know what that nickname originated.

As the groups conversation drifted onto something about a girl named Eleanor Harry lost interest and return to his book, quickly being absorbed by the expertly crafted words by the magnificent Clive Cussler.

~ ~ ~

Louis stood, telling his friends he was nipping to the loo. They all easily expect the excuse, expect Niall who throws a look towards Louis telling him he will be explaining himself. Louis nodded, a quick jerk of head, confirming he'd tell the Irish boy what he was up to before turning and walking towards the desk. Luckily for Louis the toilet were by the desk meaning his friends that didn't clock his lie wouldn't be suspicious.

"Hey" Louis smiled at Jess. He figure since he rescued her from being swallowed by books they were kind of friends and it was okay for him to chat to her.

He leant on the desk, showing the dark haired girl he was here as a friend and not in need of assistance related to the Library.

"Hi" She replied, a small smile on her face.

"So, can I ask you something?"

"You can ask" She grinned as Louis let out a soft chuckle.

"Is Hazza-" Damn, he got too used to thinking of the curly haired boy by that name "I mean Harry, is he single?"

As his nerves grew Louis avoided her eyes and mumbled slightly towards the end of his question.

Jess' smile grew a hundred times bigger and she looked so happy that she might hug Louis. That confused him.

"Awwwwh!" She clasped her hands together and made a lovesick face at the brown haired boy "You gave our Harold a cute nickname of your own and if I'm not mistaken you're interested in him! Too cute!"

Louis smiled at that, even though he was slight confused about the Harold bit. Maybe Harry has mentioned Louis. Maybe even liked him.

"So, is he?" Louis asked, fighting down a blush.

"Single? Yes. The poor lad hardly leaves the Library and he's rejected Nick like three times without even knowing it and Liam has Dani, so 100% single. Now, stop talking to me and go ask him out! Go!" Jess was talking a mile a minute and it was clear she was happy for her friend.

Maybe Harry likes me, Louis thoughts with a grin.

He gave Jess a thumbs up, said goodbye to her and returned to his friends. They were getting ready to leave so he made up some excuse about spilling Jess' drink and needing to help clean it up. Once again they all expected the excuse, apart from Niall who shoot the same look as before Louis' ways.

Louis waved to his friend, nodding to Niall again and waited for them to disappear. The moment they did he began his path to the corner where Harry sat.

As he approached he smiled at how adorable the sight of Harry lost in the world of words was.

"Hey" Louis' voice startled the other boy and he jumped out of his skin, nearly dropping the book.

The curly haired boy looked up and smiled nervously as a blush was colouring his cheeks.

"H-Hi" Harry gulped, slipping back into awkward mode. He cursed under his breathe, confusing Louis.

Louis stood there for a moment, just smiling at the nervous boy gripping the book.

"Erm, not to be rude but you're kind of staring... D-do you need something?" Harry scratched the back of his neck.

Louis coughed, awkwardly, and adverts his eyes, giving his head a slight shake.

"Erm, I came to ask you something" It was Louis' turn to be nervous now as fear of rejection built up making him feel sick.

"What do you need?" Harry smiled, thinking it was something related to the Library.

"Willyougooutwothmeforacoffeaslikeakindadate?"

"Erm?" Harry frowned, although his smiled didn't flatter. Somehow.

Louis took a deep breathe calming his nerves. "Will you come out for coffee with me? As a date?"

Once again Louis avoided eye contact, fear of rejection soaring higher then ever.

"I-I'd love to!" Harry beamed

Louis head snapped by and he was met by a pair of the brightest happiest green eyes. Louis' smile spread across his face, threatening to split his face half with the size of it. The two boys locked glazes and said nothing for a while, just smiling goofily at one another.

"I'll pick you up at 12, and drop you off whenever. Where should I picked you up?" Louis asked after the most comfortable silence he had ever witnessed.

Harry stood quickly. He gave Louis the address and then handed over his phone so they could swap number. All the while both of them never stopped smiling.

"See you tomorrow, Hazza" Louis winked, waving as he left the Library.

Harry waved until he was out of sight before skipping (yes, skipping) over to Jess and Liam to tell the good news.

~ ~ ~

Harry had never been more nervous. And once he was so nervous he puked. Thankfully though instead of puking the butterflies in his stomach were having a rave party, with neon lights, best DJ in town, huge bass stereos, the whole lot.

He stood outside his house waiting for Louis. He'd arrive any minute now. Harry had spent hours picking an outfit and in the end settled with black skinny jeans and a loose white top with blue converse. He'd also put on his airplane necklace that he always wore and added a few of his favourite bracelets.

He'd styled his hair as well. By styled he means, ruffled his curls and shook them to the side, hanging over his forehead.

Harry checked his phone. 11:58. Two minutes. Harry lowered his nerves by playing with the hem of his top and flattening his hair then ruffling it again. Not much of it helped, the butterflies continued to rave.

Harry slowly continued down the time, still trying to calm his nerves. 120... 119... 118.... 117... 116...

When Harry got to 50 Louis pulled up in Porshe. Harry's eyes widen, A PORSHE! Not only were they ridiculously expensive but weren't they originally made for women?

Although Harry couldn't deny Louis looked liked a natural in the black shiny car. Louis rolled down the window with a press of a button (fancy!) and gestured for Harry to get in. The taller boy did as he was told and slipped into the leather seat.

"Awesome car" Harry complimented.

"Thanks. It took ages to save up the money, but totally worth it" Louis said, a smile on his face as he remembered the day he brought the car.

"So, where we going?" Harry asked, making conversation.

"Well, as I said yesterday, we're going for coffee, but then we're going to see a movie. That okay?"

"Yeah, sounds perfect. What movie?"

"Your choice. After Earth or Fast and Furious 6?" Louis briefly looked away from the road to make eye contact with Harry.

"I don't mind"

Louis rolled his eyes, shooting Harry a 'seriously?!' look. "Just choose Hazza"

Harry chuckled at Louis' whining tone. He decided to tease the lad and drag out his 'thinking'

"Hmmmm..." Harry smirked, making Louis roll his eyes. Again.

"Hazzaaaaaa" Louis complained once again but was still grinning at Harry.

Harry laughed, shaking out his hair "After Earth"

Louis nodded, laughing as well.

A smile stretched across Harry's face, he felt comfortable with Louis. It took him that least a month to be this comfortable with Jess and Liam, another month to be comfortable around Nick, but he was getting better with people. Liam and Jess had helped him with his social skills. Although warming up to someone this fast was a first for Harry.

Another five minutes of driving and casual conversation later Harry and Louis were sat in a warm, cosy and lively little cafe.

They took a seat, in a red oval booth. The two boys sat opposite each other as Harry looked around the cafe. The theme was definitely red and white, on the side of the cafe they were sat booths ran along the length of the wall and then tables were in the middle before another lot of booths ran along the over wall. The counter was off to the side of where they were sitting but by the looks of the waitress' walking around they were going to be served.

Harry turned back to face Louis to find the shorter lad watching him. Harry ignored the fact that Louis was probably watching him the whole time and focus on fighting off a blush as he spoke.

"20 questions?"

"Hell yeah" Louis nodded and pointed to Harry, gesturing for him to go first.

"Age and Birthday?r"

"Christmas eve, and I'm 21"

Harry pouted at that.

"Not fair. I'm 19, and you're like an inch shorter then me"

"Hey! I take offence to that. You say it like I'm a dwarf. Niall's the leprechaun, he's 5'7 and I'm 5'9" Louis crossed his arms, turning his nose up, pretending to be appalled with Harry's statement.

"I knew you'd eventually show how much of a snob you are, with your Porshe and how turning your nose up at me" Harry teased, a large grin on his lips and his eyes lit up in amusement.

Louis gasped "How very dare you, that is so insensitive, why would you even say that?"

The older boy cover his face with his hands, pretending to cry. He 'fell' so he was lying down on his side of the booth, he stayed like that for a moment before gripping the back of the booth and pulling himself up. He held onto the back of the seat and tried to shake it, but just made himself rock back and forth as he contined to say 'why' over and over.

Harry just laughed until another voice joined their conversation.

"Oh God Lou, what are you doing?" Harry glanced to the side to see a waitress.

She was wearing a light blue top with the cafe name on and black skinny jeans. Harry couldn't help but notice she was very very pretty and looking at Louis like he was some kind of God, despite her words. Jealousy bubbled up within Harry without a reason, it's not like Louis was flirting with her.

In fact he only just eknowlegde her existence. He gave her a small smile and nodding his head at the girl.

"Hi El"

"What can I get you?" She asked, smiling largely at Louis, barely glancing at Harry.

"Two strawberry milkshakes, please, my dear women" Louis replied in a silly voice.

Harry laughed at that, ignoring the fact his jealously grew. Eleanor giggled, as of he was flirting. Which he really wasn't.

Louis handed her some money, she gave him the change and she gave another sickly smile.

"Okay dokie" And when she was gone.

"Back to 20 questions. It's my turn" Louis beamed, Harry nodded "Favourite film?"

Harry gulped, would Louis laugh if he told the truth? No, Louis wasn't like that.

"Love Actually"

"How cute!" Louis squeaked, bringing his hands together.

"Shut up" Harry blushed "Erm, what do you what to be? Job wise, when you're older"

"I'm never going to get old"

"But-"

Louis held his hand up "I won't get old enough said" Louis smiled, lowering his hand "Do you have any weird talents"

Harry frowned, trying to think about it. After racking his brain he nervously shrugged and said "I can knit and play the kazoo..."

"Cool. Your turn" Harry nodded

"Weirdest thing you've done while sleep walking?" Harry asked

"Niall once found me in the middle of the floor, singing The Jungle Book. Boxers or briefs?" Louis wiggled his eyebrows

"Odd question but boxers" Harry chuckled "What happened to coffee?"

"Milkshake is better"

"Can't argue there" Harry nodded

"Yup. Eleanor should be back so- Speak of the devil" Louis laughed as Eleanor placed the tall glasses of the table as she rolled her eyes.

She didn't stop to chat this time, to the delight of both boys. Harry edged forward on his seat before taking a sip of the strawberry milkshake.

Harry grinned at the pale pink liquid. So much sugar was used to make them. Gosh, they were going to bouncing off the walls. Or on a bed.

Harry's eyes widened at his own thoughts and he pushed them into a deep dark hole that would not be found by anyone ever.

Louis tapped Harry's hand, getting his attention. The curly haired boy raised his eyebrow instead of voicing a reply.

"Soooo. Much. Sugarrrrrrrr"

Harry laughed, and nodded as he watched the other boy pretend to have some kind of energy overload, which involved him twitching, turning and pulling a variety of odd faces.

~ ~ ~

Not long later they two boys found themselves sat in the cinema, a big bucket of salted popcorn between them and large slush puppies each. They adverts where running on the screen as Harry watched Louis throw popcorn up into the air, as he trying to catch it in his mouth. The key word being trying.

Popcorn was going all over the floor, other the seats beside them and some even getting in Harry's hair. But none went into Louis' mouth.

Eventually Louis gave up and told Harry to open his mouth, resulting in a cheeky reply from Harry before Louis began to throw popcorn towards Harry's mouth. He still missed.

The movie finally started and they both settled down to watch the film.

Kitai (who was played by Jayden Smith) began explaining a few things related to the story, introducing the monster. When they showed the monster it was a quick flash of a screen, which made Louis Juno and automatically reach for the closest thing.

Harry's hand.

Harry squeezed Louis' hand, quickly putting the arm rest up and pulling Louis towards him. Harry had no clue where his awkwardness went but he was glad it ran away because now he had an adorable boy on his arms as they watched a film.

Harry chuckled in Louis' ear about his reaction, making Louis playfully hit him before they settled and watched the film, exchanging little comment here and there about they film.

When the cinema lights came back up, Louis stretched out before they both stood up and smiled at each other. Louis took Harry's hand as they walked out of the room.

"I need to pee" Louis informed Harry of this delightful information before rushing off to the toilet.

Harry shook his head and chuckled and he leaned against a random wall, waiting for Louis to finish his business.

While waiting Harry saw Jess walk into the screen for a movie with the blonde guy, Niall. Harry smile, guess he doesn't need to convince Jess to talk to the Irish lad. And from the smile on Jess' face Niall was as nice a guy as he sounded.

Louis reappeared then and both boy reached for the others hand, making them grin at each other.

"Where to now?" Louis asked at the same time Harry asked if Louis washed his hand.

Louis gasped and dropped Harry's hand, putting his hands on his hips. "Seriously, first you think I'm a snob, and now you think I'm so unhygienic I didn't wash my hands! What next? Will you accuse me of being a raspist?!"

"Nah, you're too pretty to be a raspist. You're more likely to get raped then to rape anyone" Harry laughed

"How can you be so sure young Harry? I could be plotting to take you back to my flat and have my way with you"

"How can you be so sure that I wouldn't go willingly?" Harry teased

Louis rolled his eyes before taking Harry's hand and pulling him out the building.

"Let's go to the park!"

Hours later the two boys collapsed on Harry's sofa. Exhausted from their fun filled date. After they'd spend an hour at the park, they went to an arcade. They played nearly all the games and Louis made Harry have a million or so dancing competitions with him. It was loads of fun, but now they're both worn out.

Harry pressed play on the DVD remote and the menu for Love Actually popped up on the screen.

"I can change-"

"Nope, it's perfect" Louis cuts Harry off.

Harry nods, smiling as he presses play when he leans back Louis is closer then before. Harry wraps his arm around the older yet shorter boy and thats how they fell asleep. Cuddled up and fitting together like two puzzle pieces.
