Coming Home

The Titan overhead reached down just in time for Mikasa to react and jump off. The large, steaming hand grasped around the horse, lifting it up and throwing it across the valley. Now, she only had one choice, fight or die. Without a horse, there was no easy getaway from the situation. Levi looked back, "Ackerman! What the hell are you doing?!" Mikasa stumbled across the grass and tried to catch up to Levi's horse. She sped up and slung herself over it's back, just before the Titan nearly grabbed her again. Levi sighed, "Ackerman, you're worrying me..." Mikasa was panting hard while Levi tossed her the reins. "I'll be back, head on and take my horse." Levi shot out his grappling hooks at a nearby tree behind the Titan. It's large, gaping mouth held one of the cadets, splattering blood across the field. Levi narrowed his eyes as he spotted the cadet be devoured before his eyes. Nothing could anger him more than useless deaths.

Gas sprayed from his tanks to his side as he flew through the air, flipping just in time to see the Titan lumbering towards him. "Die-piece of filth," he muttered as he swung down with his two swords and made a swift cut right through the nape of it's neck. The Titan went down with a thud, while Levi landed on top of it, taking out a piece of cloth, wiping his blades clean. Mikasa trotted over with Levi's horse, quickly dismounting as he sheath his two swords back in. He looked at her, then at the setting sun in the distance. The faint shadow of soldiers mounted on horses lined the horizon. The clop of horse's hooves fainted away too. Levi grunted, since they were going to be late. However, he mounted his horse looking back at Mikasa, "Climb on." She obeyed his orders without a word and saddled behind him. As Levi whipped the reigns, Mikasa's hair flew behind her. She wrapped her arms around Levi's waist, cautious and slowly as if he would shake her off. Levi flinched as her soft skin touched his, he felt her hands slowly wrap around him. Mikasa pulled herself closer to him. She never felt any of these feelings before especially to Captain Levi. He was cold and harsh, but somehow, she found that inside, he cared for others, especially his beloved comrades.

She wasn't especially close to him, but over the past few encounters she had with him, it seemed as if her feelings surfaced for him. They had heard the rumors of Humanity's Strongest Soldiers going around the Survey Corps for some time, which added to the pressure of being near him. But, besides the comments made, he was still the same Levi, Captain Levi of the Survey Corps, Humanity's Strongest Soldier, and in her view someone she definitely cared for. Though she still didn't know what to do with his cleaning supplies, she decided to play with him for a bit more.
