Archie Forrester, Aged Unknown
Archie Forrester, Age Unknown
Case Summary: recorded by Detective; 7851:
“Not a lot was known about Archie Forrester, he seemed to have popped out of thin air. He couldn’t join as a member for he had no documents but he joined as a casual member of the gym. He started to have feelings for a Miss Susie Brownlee and the leisure centre was lucky enough to see their love blossom. His power was subtle, not harmful and made him the friend of almost everyone”.
Events read by Doctor Paul Oswold-Jones:
The case of Archie Forrester was the strangest by far and much more was learnt about him after his powers had manifested. He was living with an elderly lady called Ms. Jeppard, living with her had been a recent development, she said she found him wandering the forest behind her house in a world war one soldier outfit and took pity on him.
According to her it was; “clear that he had no idea where he was and appeared quite frightened by his surroundings”. She added that she felt a strong need to protect the man and offer him a safe haven.
The man in question was tall, muscled and with tanned skin. He had a couple of scars on his back, clearly from the war and a slight American twang to his accent. Ms. Jeppard called him her ‘man out of time’.
The first time the staff at the leisure centre saw him was when Ms. Jeppard bought him into join the gym. She thought it would do him some good to keep fit as he would have been doing that during his own time. He had been a bit scared when he saw all the gym equipment, as of course there had been no electronic equipment during his time. However, Ms. Jeppard had done her best in explaining all that had happened during the years and had accompanied him for moral support.
It quickly became apparent that the female population (both staff and customers) found Archie incredibly attractive. It was a combination of his looks and his manners that made women find him irresistible.
The trainer in the gym found his level of fitness impressive and it wasn’t long after his gym induction that Archie began coming every day.
Ellie Perial – who worked in the café described Archie as “the kindest, politest man, who could bring a smile to your face, even if you were suffering from the gloomiest of days”.
The reveal of his power was very unique and very subtle. He was an incredibly good man, so it was only fitting that his power be something good and wholesome.
The first person he’d helped was Ms, Jeppard, after she’d had a turn. Ms. Jeppard was a very wealthy woman with a large house and no one to share it with. Her husband had passed many years ago and so had a lot of her friend’s. Archie had been a shoulder for her to lean on and she felt better for it.
The next person he’d helped was a customer at the leisure centre who had been angry about an error with their membership. Archie had defused the situation and banished the anger from the customer. When asked to explain what happened, he stated: “I walked into the leisure centre and felt a torrid of angry emotion coming from the customer in front of me. I also felt the fear and apprehension coming from the receptionist and knew I had to do something. I moved to defuse the situation with the clear intent in my mind of removing the negative emotions of the customer before me. As soon as I touched her shoulder with my hand, her anger left her body and was replaced with calmness. The receptionist looked relieved at the change of emotion of the customer, with no more negative feeling clouding my mind, I felt a peace”.
Archie’s story is at heart a love story. He knew the moment Susie Brownlee walked into the leisure centre that he was smitten and she was the one for him. She was a head shorter than him, had mousey brown hair and was rather shy. However, he knew that under that shy exterior she was a bright bubbly woman who was full of life and laughter. Her powers started to manifest around the same time that her and Archie became closer, so he was able to help with her emotions while she learnt to control what was happening to her.
Archie was lucky, he wasn’t dangerous so he didn’t have to be sectioned or locked up. His powers were labelled as ‘emotional manipulation’ and with the word manipulation involved it was a good thing his power was used for good or things would have been very different.
During his short court case, the court house learnt a lot about his past. He’d been eighteen when he was enlisted into the army, he was indeed American, hailing from New Orleans but had spent us as much time in England. He’d quickly risen up through the army ranks, earning himself the title of Captain. He’d come from a large family and it was his dream to survive the war and settle down to have a family of his own. The scars on his back were from a brief torture he suffered while captured by the enemy.
Upon hearing his life story, the powers that be decreed he be given the proper papers to allow him the right of being a citizen of the United Kingdom. The last we heard of him, he had settled down in Ms. Jeppard’s house with Miss Susie Brownlee and they were waiting to start a family of their own.
