it was a warm summer day when I had met Billy the Kid I was working at the DX with my friend Steve. my baby brother Ponyboy and my other friend Johnny Cade had came into the DX to visit with us. Johnny had came to love westerns thanks to my older brother Darry Johnny always read stories and books about Billy the Kid he had movies and books on Billy the Kid that me and the others had got for him Johnny kept his stuff at our house to keep it safe from his mom and dad but little did we know that our lives was going to change for good Steve and I  was getting to close up when two cowboy came riding up to the DX on horses one was a Mexican/Indian named Chavez and the other one was a young boy who looked to be 16 or 17 I would to say that he was my age his name William H. Bonney but was very well known as Billy the Kid Steve said that he was an outlaw and he was wanted dead or alive back in Lincoln County New Mexico and he is on the run from sheriff Pat Garrett in a lot of ways he looked just like Two Bit I know that Billy was an outlaw but he had a heart of gold I saw a look of sadness in Billy's bright blue eyes when Steve said the name Pat Garrett I had a feeling that Billy's life was like Johnny's life I asked Billy to tell me about his life he told me the story of his life. this is the story that he told me:  he was born on Nov 23rd he never knew his father because his father had died before he was born then his mother had remarried his stepfather who had abused him because he wasn't his own child and that his stepfather had beat him almost to death on his 13th birthday and his mother had died of tuberculosis and his stepfather had took his stepbrother and left to live in Arizona leaving him on the streets to fend for his self and that he killed his first man was 15 in self defense and he was taken in by John Tunstall but John Tunstall was murdered right before his eyes then and the regulators went to avenge John Tunstall's murder after the he became an outlaw he became friends with Pat Garrett who soon betrayed him and is now hunting him. I told him that he and Chavez with us we had a lot of room I told Darry about it and he agreed to them staying with us Darry said that Billy was a legendary outlaw that same day Chavez had adopted Johnny that day we made some new friends and Johnny had got a new family.
