Amidst an endless void of darkness, shines a golden light. Soft at first, then brighter, struggling to reach its full radiance. A voice was echoing faintly, distant and muffled like a whisper carried by the wind. It calls for someone, its tone gentle yet insistent.
"...Open your eyes..." The voice calls, The Golden Light surges, consuming the shadows, and it comes the sound of rushing water, growing louder. A dim blue glow begins to seep in through the haze and slowly, a pair of eyes flutter open. Weak, unfocused yet stirring to life.
"Open your eyes... Open your eyes..." the voice repeats twice now. It remains patient and calm, as though waiting for response.
The blurred vision sharpens gradually, revealing a strange ceiling above. Patterns constructed on smooth-stone. Etched with intricate glowing patterns was all that could be seen for now. Their design was unfamiliar yet mesmerizing. The sound of draining water persists, echoing in the stillness, as if signaling the end of a long slumber.
Then the voice speaks again, clearer now, filled with a strange familiarity. It calls a name.
"Wake Up, Linkle".
A sharp gasp breaks the silence. A young woman has opened her eyes, she moves upright. droplets cascading from her slim frame. She shivers as the cold air brushes her exposed skin, her chest heaving as she draws her first breath in what feels like an eternity, her dirty blonde hair clings to her face, her wide azure eyes glimmering with confusion after waking up from what felt like an endless dream.
The young woman glanced around, taking in the chamber bathed in the misty blue hue that was both eerie and beautiful. The smooth stone walls adored glowing glyphs that pulsed like a heartbeat with a faint hum. their light casts over the pristine stone floor. She sits in an oblong tub its surface smooth and polished. her gaze drops to herself and unusual attire.
A dark blue tank top with black underlining details clung tightly to her small breasts, barely reaching her midriff. The matching shorts sat snugly at her hips designed for more function then modestly. The dark fabric stood out starkly against her pale, ivory skin, the contrast striking in the shrine's ethereal glow.
Her hand moved instinctively to her hair, brushing against damp long strands on each side that reached her chin, her hair was medium in length, tied with a small ponytail at the back with a blue band. This gesture was brief as the chill air makes her shiver.
With a deep breath, she decided to get up from the oblong tub, sliding her legs over the edge of the tub, her bare feet slap onto the cold-stone floor. Its sensation jolts through her body, her legs wobbled almost buckling, as she would have fallen back into the tub or on the floor. But she caught her balance. She stands there; droplets drip from her wet skin in the silent hum of the chamber.
She starts to move now, her steps unsteady and stiff, her body felt unfamiliar as though she had no control to what she was doing, her movements soon guide her to a stone door, its surface ruff with carvings but smooth. It sealed away her freedom, she could feel it and she knew in her state there was no way she could get this to open. So, what now?
"Hm?" she murmured her voice soft in tone with curiosity as her gaze shifts over to a pedestal near the door. She stepped closer to the pedestal it was small with glowing details pulsing almost like a heartbeat.
With an urge she reached for it, the moment she got close. The center begins to shift, its glow intensified, turning slowly like a wheel, a hidden compartment flipped open and with a quiet click, a small rectangular object emerged, it had a smooth polished surface like the stone of the chamber, the back bores an intricate design resembling an eye, faintly glowing with alternating hues of blue and orange.
She stared at the device before her, captivated by the soft pulse of energy. Just as she was going to grab it. She froze at the voice of a young man; it was the same voice that had awakened her and had called her by that name she couldn't quite remember.
"That is a Sheikah Slate. Take It. It will help guide you after your long slumber"
Her brow frowns at the mention of his words. A long slumber? This arose questions within her but she set them aside for now.
Obediently, she took the device into her hands. Turning it over she sees its black screen flicker to life with a ping sound, the smooth black screen pulsed with blue energy. the same eye emblem appears in the center of a circle, The sudden activation had startled her slightly.
This tablet? She frowns, her mind tries to piece something together, has she seen this device before? But her mind couldn't grasp it, she couldn't remember, it was like her mind was a blank slate. Suddenly the pedestal's center closes with a hiss and the chamber trembles, the stone door opens lifting upward revealing a pathway forward.
The young woman steps cautiously out of the chamber her bare feet tap along the stone floor. The new room she enters was a larger, narrow hallway, littered with old wooden crates and damaged barrels; by each large crate there are two stone chests. She approaches one of the chests and opens it. inside the chest she opens to reveal worn-out trousers, a leather belt and old small boots that sag at the edges showing their age.
The second chest, she finds an old beige shirt with frayed seams and a sting patterned at the neckline, and tethered fabric at the wrists,
She hesitated.
The clothes were far from ideal, but compared to her nearly unclothed body, it would be better to keep the chill from biting at her skin, she puts them on.
The trousers were snug, the legs ending awkwardly short, but surprisingly comfortable. The boots, though sag at the tops, fit securely on her small feet. The shirt was a bit loose for her size, with its sleeves slightly too big, the waist rankled and baggy, and it was clear that it was made for someone bigger and more toned than she was. She adjusted a second leather belt over her shoulder, completing her makeshift outfit.
Now dressed properly she heads down the large hallway to another stone door that blocks her path, much larger then before and another pedestal beside it... she looks perplexed at this new pedestal, what does she do now? Then the voice speaks again to help her.
"Hold the Sheikah Slate up to the pedestal. That will show you the way."
Following the instructions of the voice, she takes the slate and turns it around to place on the pedestal. The pedestal scans the slate, a mechanical voice calls responding with "Authenticating... Sheikah Slate confirmed". with another tremor, the large stone door raises.
Bright sunlight suddenly floods the room, blinding her for a moment. Before she could adjust to it. The Voice speaks to her again. Addressing her by the name.
"Linkle... You are the Light, our Light, that must shine upon Hyrule once again. Now go..."
She caught her breath at the name Linkle. Is that who she is? it must be her name, but how could she forget something so important?
Determination then urges her forward into light, walking up steps, she emerges from a cave. She shields her eyes from the brilliance of the sun... before her from above a cliff top, was a breathtaking landscape.
A sea of green grass, distant mountains, trees and something caught her sight, it gives her an uneasy feeling, there is a place in the distance that she couldn't see well but she knows it had to be a Castle.
She didn't know where she was or what lay ahead, but deep inside, she felt it:
Her Adventure Across Hyrule has just begun...
