Chapter 3

Hyrule Field

There he was, in the majestic overworld land of Hyrule. The sky was blue, the grass was greener than ever, and a big adventure was waiting for Link up ahead. But before he continued, a voice came to his ears:

- "Link... can you hear me? Is me, Sahasrahla. It is really courageous of you to accept this quest to save Hyrule from Kyriaxis. However, I'm pretty sure that you don't know where to start right now. Allow me to show you the way of the most closest Fairy Charm. Go to the East of Hyrule, where you will find Death Mountain. Before entering the mountain, you will enter to a place called Kakariko Village. Talk to the villagers around and see if any of them can tell you how to climb the mountain. You will know what to do from there. Good luck Link, and may you return safely."

Link ran directly to Death Mountain and reached Kakariko Village. The village was small and very peacefully. Link started to ask around, looking for somebody that could show him how to get to Death Mountain. He then found a guard and got the answers he was looking for.

- "What? You want to climb Death Mountain? Ha Ha Ha Ha! Now you are really funny fella. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!"

Link remained silent. Still, he upset amazed at the guard's reaction.

- "... Ahem... I am sorry. Is just that I never thought that I would met somebody that would want to climb such a dangerous place like Death Mountain. The place has been quite a mess for a long time now, so trying to get there is not highly recommended. However, if you still want to take the risk, then have it your way. Go to the Graveyard behind the Village, and look for a man named Dampé the Gravekeeper. He has the key that opens the way to Death Mountain... I haven't saw the man lately, but he must still be there."

Link ran quickly to the Graveyard. Just like the soldier said, there is no sign of any Dampé. Still, he saw a small hut on the entrance and went to the door. He then saw a piece of paper that says this:

I'm not here right now. If you want to meet me in person, go to the big gravestone at the end of the Graveyard

- Dampé the Gravekeeper

Link found the big gravestone and pushed it, revealing a big hole. Link fall in and found himself on a dark, creepy place.

After moving on into the deepest parts, while slaying a bat monster known as Keeses, he finally reached the end and found Dampé the Gravekeeper, who was watching at a written wall. Link approached at Dampé and saw his  face.

- "Oh... I didn't expected to see someone else down here. But anyway, allow me to introduce myself: I am Dampé the Gravekeeper. My face may look creepy, but I'm not a bad person once you get to know me. What brings you to a place like this?"

*Link tells him what he's looking for*

- "Hm? You want to go to Death Mountain? Hmmm... I'm not really sure. Death Mountain has become a very dangerous place since the volcano started to erupt constantly. I don't think is a good idea to go there, but if you insist, then I'll give you the key to open the gate. However, I have one condition: I was looking at this wall right here, trying to decipher it's message. Unfortunately, I didn't have any luck. So here's the deal: if you help me decipher this scriptures, then I'll open the gate to Death Mountain for you. Do we have a deal?"

Link nodded at him and walked directly to the wall. The scriptures says the following:

Just like there are four Great Fairies in Hyrule, so do four Great Fairy Statues exists on different corners of this tomb. Search and activate all four Great Fairy Statues. Only then, the path to the treasure will be opened to you.

Link saw a Great Fairy Statue close to the written wall. He then hit it with his sword, and the Great Fairy Statue's eyes glowed a Rose light.

- "Wow! I didn't know that statue was so special!" Dampé said impressed.

Link got back to where he came from and started searching for the remaining statues. He found another Great Fairy Statue that glowed a green light from the eyes after he hit it. Link hits the third statue, and the eyes glowed a blue light. Finally, the last statue was well hidden at the beginning of the tomb. Link hit it with his sword, and it's eyes glowed a yellow light.

Finally, the written wall started moving away and opened the path to a treasure chest. Link got back to Dampé quickly.

- "Wow kid! You've actually did it! Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go and get the treasure!"

Link and Dampé ran to the treasure, but it was Link who opened it.

'Link got an Empty Bottle. You can carry many kinds of things with it'.

- "What?! The treasure was an Empty Bottle?! Well will you look at that! And I was here thinking that I'll find something of more value!"

*Link looked at him awkwardly*

- "... but anyway, you still gave me a huge help around here. So I have to fulfill the promise I've made. Come on, let's go to the entrance of Death Mountain."

Link and Dampé got to the gate, and Dampé used the key to open it.

- "There you go kid, just like I promise. I still don't understand why you have to go to such a dangerous place like that. But then again, that's none of my business. Yet, I think you still can get something that can protect you from the constantly eruptions coming from the crater, like an Hylian Shield or something. I think you can find something like that on the Kakariko's Mart. It only costs 80 Rupees, so you should check it out sometime."

Link didn't have 80 Rupees with him, so he had to go with the Wooden Shield he bought at Castle Town. Dampé got back to the Graveyard, and Link ran quickly to Death Mountain.
