One day later, Alya tiptoes over to Marinette's place. She does not notice the new scarecrow in the garden.  She did arrive at 4:35 am. No wonder it is so dark she can not see anything. She walks around in the back yard. Then, sneaks into the garden to try to take a few squashes. She thinks Marinette will not mind. She plans to make some quiches with the food.

      As she stoops down to grab up some nice looking squash,  she hears a funny sound.

     "Intruder alert! Intruder alert!"

     "Ah!" She screams as she drops the squash. She runs off.

        Alya does not stop running until she is back safely inside her own home. She slams the door shut behind her.  "Ah, what was that thing?" 

        She does not stop her hollering until six in the morning.   She sleeps from six am until noon.  At noon she gets up and starts her day. She is afraid of whatever that dark, spooky thing is inside her neighbor's vegetable garden.  

          Alya calls Marinette and asks, "What is that thing over there?"

          "Thing, by the thing you mean?"

            "The tall, scary thing that did not let me bring home any squash for quiches."

              Marinette laughs into the receiver. She thinks so Alya is afraid of it, then.

               "What is so funny?" 

               "Nothing."

                 "Oh, then, why did you laugh?"

                 "I did not laugh."

                "Oh, yeah, I heard a laugh."

             "Fine, it is just you scare too easily. It was my new scarecrow you saw and besides, you can not just go taking food that is not yours. Plant your own squash for making things out of it."

                  Marinette hangs up before Alya can respond.

                        In the garden, Luka blinks twice, then scans the area. He is glad to see other than the loose squash no other fruits or vegetables have been picked yet. He must be sure to keep anyone from stealing Marinette's stuff.  He recalls that is what she told him her name was the other day.
