I got up early: it was already dawn and the lights were beginning to filter through the windows of the temple; I could feel Edel next to me. Even though we were both adults, she still looked so beautiful asleep that I wouldn't want to wake her up. But that day was an important day.

"Edel? Honey, it's time to wake up, today is the day" I told her.

"Aaaaaaam! Good morning Jhonny" she got up yawning, "sorry, I've been tired lately. So, are we ready? Or should we wait for Ray and Thorr?"

At that moment, there was a knock on the door and I went to open it: Ray and Thorr were there. Apparently, the ceremony was going to be in an hour and we had to prepare.

"Well, I guess that's good motivation to get up" said Edel.

(Minutes later ...) (In the city ...)

"Spyro! Dude, how are you?" I asked the purple dragon, who was in front of me.

"Very good, Cynder and I are happy for the appointment of him" he replied, "We also have news: we are going to be parents"

"Wow, congratulations! As the next Fire Guardian, I promise to teach your son the values ​​you shared with me."

"Thank you, I know you will be a good teacher"

(10 minutes later)

We were in the central square of Warfang, and there were many moles, dragons, cheetahs and aklaba around. Edel, Ray, Thorr and I were close to the guardians. To one side were Spyro, Cynder, Flame, and Ember, along with the (slightly older) Guardians, Cynthia and Sybilla. Everyone was eager for the ceremony to begin. There was only silence when Terrador spoke:

"My friends, as we Guardians already know, we have a duty to fulfill. However, now is the time to leave everything in the hands of the next generation," and he pointed to our group. At that moment, Volteer and Cyril came to Terrador's side.

"For possessing an electrifying personality with your allies and rivals ..." declared Volteer, he knew not to overdo it, "I appoint you, Ray, as the new guardian of Electricity."

Ray then stood before Volteer and bowed, which Volteer did in the same way, while applause could be heard from various parts. Then Volteer rallied behind Spyro and the others, leaving Ray in front. Then it was Thorr's turn.

"Having shown a toughness and tenacity like the earth itself" said Terrador, "I appoint you, Thorr, as the new guardian of the Earth."

They did the same as Ray and Volteer, only with the difference that Terrador didn't move, but stayed by Cyril's side. After the applause died down again, Cyril spoke:

"For a cold mind in the worst situations, and for a great freezing power with your enemies; I name you, Edel, the new guardian of the Ice."

More applause. While they were close to each other, Cyril spoke to Edel:

"Your mother would be really proud, just like me" he said, and then went to meet with Volteer.

Everyone calmed down again. It was my turn; I was really happy and nervous.

"And for having a warm and burning heart of hope" said Terrador, "I appoint you, Jhonny, as the new guardian of fire."

Another incredible amount of applause I bowed in front of Terrador, he did the same.

"As the new guardians" Terrador finished, "You have a duty to protect the future of the dragons with each new generation. May their wisdom guide them until the stars fall from the skies. Long live the new guardians!"

"Long live the new guardians!" the crowd echoed, following more applause.

The next minute, we met the new Guardians in a new embrace, accompanied by Spyro, Flame, Ember, and Cynder.

(One hour later) (In the highest Tower of Warfang ...)

I was in a high tower; I was admiring the beautiful sunset and I wondered if I was really ready to be a guardian.

"I finally found you" said Edel, who had appeared behind me without making a sound, "You had me a little worried, are you okay?"

"Yeah, I just needed to think quite a bit, about ... things"

He came over to me and rubbed his head against mine lovingly.

"I'm thinking about a lot of things too" she said as she sat down next to me.

Edel and I then looked toward the border, admiring the beautiful views of the land of the dragons: the mountains, the forests, the cliffs, the temple in the distance, everything.

"Sounds like a dream, right?" Edel said.

"Well, if it is, I don't want to wake up" I replied, "I'm really happy for my decision, you made me regain my sense of life, Edel. I don't think there is anything better than being with you or my friends."

"Nothing better, huh? Well, I think you're wrong about that."

"Why do you say that?"

I did that. Then she guided my paw to her belly. Touching it, it felt normally scaly, but I also had a feeling that there was some life there, apart from my partner.
