Chapter 18: Seeking for wisdom, ¡let's go to the white island!

"Come to see me, young dragon ..."

Ignitus' voice was hovering in my head, was I dreaming again? I tried to wake up and my eyes found a room in the temple.

"Wow," said a familiar voice, "You finally wake up, redhead. We must stop seeing each other like this"

I recognized that voice: Sparx was close to me, his glowing little light unmistakable. When I looked back to me, I noticed that I was lying on a straw bed in a room in the temple.

"Hey! He's up! " yelled Sparx. The doors opened after a few seconds and everyone entered: the guardians, Flame, Ember, Spyro (somewhat staggering), and my team: Edel, Thorr, and Ray. The first to enter was Edel.

"Jhonny! Good thing you're fine! " He said, "I was so...!" but she stopped, and I saw everyone looking at her.

"Worried?" I completed the sentence for her. Edel blushed, indicating that she really loves me. The others started laughing.

"Ahh, young love" said Cyril, "I am glad that my girl has found her soulmate"

"Dad!" Edel turned to blush, as did I.

"Excuse me, do you think we can leave this of the couple at another time?" Ember said, "We must rescue Cynder."

"What happened?" I wanted to know as I touched my head to rule out a possible lump.

"When we were fighting, you rushed to save me and Cynder" said Spyro "you did it for a moment, but then Simian sped past us, hitting us and taking Cynder away."

"Edel held you and I helped Spyro," Thorr said, "But there were still too many. Just then, Flame's team came to help. "

"Yes, we collaborated in the fight, but they disappeared in a dark cloud, along with Cynder," Flame said, "I wonder what Simian wants with Cynder."

"Who is that Simian?" asked Cynthia, who had just arrived along with Sybilla, "Why did he has to take my daughter away again?"

"I'm sorry, it's my fault" I said trying to blame myself, I felt useless again, "I wasn't strong enough."

Cynthia looked at me understandingly for a few seconds and then said:

"Easy, I'm not upset with you, you are one of my daughter's friends, but with that Simian."

"In any case, we must hurry to find Cynder" said Sybilla, "Terrador, any idea where they could have taken her?"

"We are not sure" said Terrador, "But the guardians are looking for traces around the battle site and surroundings, something that indicates where they went."

"The tests will be postponed, we will continue the search immediately" said Volteer, "In the meantime young dragons, rest and recharge."

That said, he left us two baskets with red and green gems.

"We'll see you later, take care" said Sybilla.

"We will, mom," Flame and Spyro said. The guards, Sybilla and Cynthia came out.

"There must be a way to find Cynder," said Spyro, "I wish I had learned to see into the pool of visions."

"This reminds me of when she left on her own ..." Sparx said.

"When was that?" Edel asked.

"It was when she left the ancient temple before Eternal Night" said Spyro, "that time she was carried to the mountain of Malefor by Galu's minions."

"Has she been taken there again?" Ray asked.

"I don't know, I remember that those caves were buried long ago. Even more so with the attacks of that golem from the depths".

"How did you know she was there?" I asked curiously.

"Well, first I had to go see the Chronicler to find out what he wanted with me, then he told me about Galu's plan and where he and Cynder were."

"Yeah, quite a complicated little trip," Sparx commented.

I remembered the words I had heard when I was unconscious: "Come to see me, young dragon."

"So, we should go see the Chronicler," I proposed. They all looked at me with great attention.

"Oh no, again!" Sparx said.

"Now that you mention it, I think it's a good idea," said Spyro, supporting Sparx.

"So, does it really exist?" Thorr asked, "I thought it was just a legend."

"It's the best we can do for now," said Edel, "But where do we find it?"

"Do you want to come too?" I asked them.

"Yes, we are a team" said Edel, "we will all do it together."

I was happy to have such good friends. I looked at Spyro and he nodded.

"I want to go too," Ember said, "I won't have guardian powers, but I'm not a weakling."

"Then, I'll go too" said Flame, now she could see him without fear of speaking to Ember, "Seth, Frost and Jolt will go to help the guardians with the search."

"You're all unkempt," Sparx said, "Okay, I'm going too."

"Thank you all" said Spyro, "First let's get some energy, and then I'll guide you to the White Island."

Thanks to the magic of the gems, we recover quickly. Then, we left the temple guided by Spyro, in the direction to the White Island.

The trip was full of strong winds, and a sea afflicted by them, for which, there were considerably large waves. During the ride, Edel approached me to speak privately.

"Jhonny, are you okay?" she told me. I had a bit of concern on my face.

"Yes Edel, it's just that I'm a little scared when I go to talk to the Chronicler" I said, I knew I shouldn't lie to her anymore, so I had to tell her, "You see, it's really me ..."

"Aren't you a dragon?" she told me. I was really shocked that she already knew.

"Did you know it all the time?!"

"My father told us: Thorr, Ray and me; And I think Flame already told Ember. But I really think that has nothing to do with it. I mean, you are someone good on the inside and on the outside, you are now a dragon. They understand it too".

"So, do you accept me as I am?" I asked him something disappointed to keep it from him.

"Of course, something I learned from my mother is that someone should not be judged by where he is from, but by who he chooses to be. I like you a lot; Furthermore, you led us when we fight the golem and you had the idea to increase the speed by flying higher. You are really cool"

"I don't know how I did it, I was never as active or intelligent as on those occasions, I was always useless or at least I considered myself every time I made mistakes."

"Maybe you just needed to prove it to yourself. I love you, Jhonny".

"Thank you, Edel means a lot to me. I love you too".

She smiled and I think that I have never seen a pretty face like that. In mi heart, I feel that I finally had a partner.

"Pair of lovebirds, we're coming" said Sparx. We quickly looked back.

There it was: an island with a white color that stood out above the grays, several rocks and ledges, a large hole that looked like a cave (supposedly the entrance), white sand, ice, rocks and floating platforms in various parts.

"Here we are," Spyro said as they all landed.

"So, this is the Chronicler's home?" Ember said looking around, "It looks a bit deserted."

"It sure is only appearance, to prevent it from being scanned," Ray said.

"Something like that" Spyro explained, "But first, I must warn you that inside the caves there are dangers: bubbling pools of water, stone warriors, orbs that move and attack you, four ancient warriors each with a different element and an ancient creature like a dragon with all four elements together.

"Oh man," said Sparx, "that's the worst of all."

"But we cannot give up," I said, "we must find the Chronicler. We need his help. Spyro, please guide us to avoid the dangers. "

"Okay, let's go," Spyro said, and we all followed him.

For almost an hour, we went through the dangerous caves with what Spyro and Sparx mentioned. However, the only dangers were the warriors and the orbs. Because Spyro and I already had experience of how to fight warriors, it was a piece of cake to beat them. On the other hand, the living orbs were not complicated due to our superiority in numbers. Sometimes we had to glide or fly across huge holes or pools of bubbling water, but nothing was more difficult.

Finally, we came to what looked like a large wooden door. On either side of the door, there were two statues of some unknown creatures, each looking at its feet. Under each of the statues, there were two crystal orbs on top of pedestals with strange symbols and different colors (red, light blue, yellow and green)

"To enter we must introduce the elements: fire, ice, electricity and earth into the orbs" said Spyro, "Although this is rare, these orbs were attacking the last time Sparxs and I came."

"And do you want them to do it again?" Sparx said, "We should consider ourselves lucky they're quiet"

"I think Sparx is right this time, brother," Flame said to Spyro.

"You see it! Even the red boy knows I'm right. Wait, how about 'this time'?"

"Well then I'll take care of this orb," I said, pointing to the one with the red symbols.

"And I from this one" Edel said, pointing to the statue next to mine, the one with light-blue symbols.

Ray and Thorr found theirs too. We each got into position and then unleashed a blast of fire, an ice blizzard, an electric current, and a ground strike on the respective orbs.

It worked; the orbs glowed in conjunction with the colors of the statues. The door opened, and we all rushed inside for fear of more traps. As in my dream, we find ourselves in the same Chronicler's room, with the books and the big hourglass in the middle.

Spyro looked confused:

"This is strange, before reaching this room, they had to pass the tests of the elements against the warriors and the creature"

"I simply wanted to welcome my visitors easily and smoothly, young dragon," said a voice, "You have already been through many difficulties, I know."

We all turned to see who had spoken. Sparx was stunned to see who he didn't expect to see. On the other hand, Spyro was between surprise, happiness or sadness to see who he had spoken to, just like Flame.

Ignitus, the new Chronicler of the new age, was in front of us all.
