Chapter 10: HornyI of Bolton's Minotaur
1:Horn of Bolton's minotaur
2: skin of a Skin-changer
3: Blade or Osiris
4:Tome of Daedalus
5: Herb of Nennal(Water Dale)
6: Tooth of a Dragon
7: Hair of Armornie(Noble elf Darkness)
8:Poison of A Living Basilisk
9: Scale of a Red Dragon
10: Maidens blood
The longer I looked at this list, the more impossible the gathering of these items seemed. Who was Armornie for example, and how could we gather the poison of a basilisk without killing it? I figure I would start with the only one I knew enough of the legends about, Item 1, the horn of Bolton's Centaur. I walked over to the others and began to explain my plan. "We must head to Mistaostirion(Grey fortress with a watchtower), and into Bolton's forest."
"Why would we wish to do that?" Saironellotoron asked obliviously
"Most likely to gather supplies for the charging of the purple gem he showed us" Aranellevanima said innocently, which Saironellotoron took as in insult, and glared at her.
"Correct" I affirmed, grinning at their shenanigans that ensued from the misinterpretation of Aranellevanima's comment."Nimloth, says the activation of the crystal is necessary to our survival, which means we must gather all ten of these supplies. Specifically, we are Going to Bolton's forest, to gather the horn of the Minotaur who lives there. From the legends I have heard, The Minotaur will appear and kill anyone in the woods, after nightfall, on nights that sing the wind song of the tree's."
"How will we know if the wind song of the trees is being sung?" Saironellotoron pursued
"That is the interesting thing about Bolton's Forest, the trees had holes burrowed through them by an influx of a species of burrowing worm, that eventually the people of Mistaostirion, found a way to exterminate. These holes, when the wind blows through them give an illusion of the trees singing. This noise awakens the Minotaur, who then goes out hunting for prey. This will be our advantage, because I will cast an illusion in front of the Minotaur, causing it to charge, and then I will lower the illusion, and he should fall back asleep, if it is not really windy, and if all goes according to plan. Any Questions?" I asked.
"What will I be doing?"Aranellevanima asked, and I went to answer, but Saironellotoron inferred the answer and interrupted with "You are required to reanimate it to counter our need for brute strength."
I affirmed this claim, and we set off along the Northeastern road. Along our journey, about 10 miles in, we came across the Luncilya.(Deep Chasm) There, we turned west, and after another 2 miles, we set up camp for the night. Exhausted, I let them go to bed, and took the first watch.
...
At around 12:00a.m. WTT, Saironellotoron woke up, shaken, clearly from a nightmare, and could not get back to sleep, so we hung out until around 4:30 a.m. WTT, then I went to awaken Aranellevanima, who had slept peacefully, all night, and was within minutes as perky and alert as she had been the day before, looked at the two of us, Saironellotoron and I, slowly meandering about doing our clean-up and chores, and laughed. The sound surprised me, and I jumped startled, crashing into Saironellotoron, who was carrying the water for breakfast, causing the water to dump and soak both of us. She began to laugh so hard that she could not stand and had to sit down, and after a moment of shock, Saironellotoron, and I joined in. Although I was a little cold and damp, I lit a fire and set my outer cloak next to it to dry out, then went to get more water from the stream running into the Chasm. As I brought the pot back, Saironellotoron was making the wood more flammable through transmutation, and Aranellevanima was missing. "Saironellotoron, where did Aranellevanima run off to?" I questioned nervously, looking into the nearby woods, to try to catch a glimpse of her black cloak, but I did not see her.
He looked up at me and said "She said she was going to gather some herbs for the food, becau--" At that moment we both heard Aranellevanima scream, and without a word or a thought for ourselves, we immersed ourselves into the woods, screaming her name. We split up, and ran opposite directions, trying to listen for any noises out of the ordinary, but all I could hear was the sound of my breathing, and my voice calling out her name. I heard the sound of my footsteps, and the sound of Saironellotoron shouting out "Aranellevanima, where are you?" faintly, but my conscious didn't even recognize it until later. My adrenaline was flowing through the roof, when suddenly, I heard a faint feminine voice, and without thinking, I turned and ran towards it. I drew closer, and heard two voices, one Aranellevanima, the other unknown to me. I slowed down and cast a spell with the phrase "dín" meaning "silent," and then crept into the opening. I saw two women, one Aranellevanima, the other wearing a blue and green dress, with brown hair and white eyes, and green painted nails, which were sharp, and covered in blood, at which point I noticed that Aranellevanima was bleeding from her right shoulder. Still, I knew I had to know something about my foe, if I was to defeat her. However, she turned at looked directly at me and said: "I will leave you two alone, I'm sure you will have much to discuss."
With a courtesy nod, I ran forward and hugged Aranellevanima, but when I turned around, the lady in green and blue was gone. I turned back to Aranellevanima, and grasped her arm just below the injury. "I will kill her for this," I stated, with absolute certainty
"She says she is trying to help, but I can not verify it." Aranellevanima responded as I whispered "harwnestad" meaning "Wound Healing."
"Who is she?" I asked, helping Aranellevanima to her feet "And why did you scream?"
"I don't know who she is, she said her name was Martamo, and other than from being clawed?" She asked flippantly "She startled me, and unfortunately, I dropped all the herbs I had gathered. I'm sorry!"
" World Inventor? Don't worry about the herbs, Aranellevanima, I'm just glad you're safe. Come along, we should go inform Saironellotoron that you are alright."
. . .
At 8:00p.m. WTT, we reached Mistaostirion, and regathered our supplies. Then we went to the top of the tower of the fortress to test the wind speed, and due to it blowing at 27 Wind pressure units, we determined that if it was steady for the next 4 hours, we would be able to complete our first challenge.
. . .
At 11:30 P.M. WTT, Saironellotoron woke me up, and told me to get dressed. We had rented a two-bed room in a tavern called "Laureaamuntë" or "Golden, as in color, sunrise," with a bed for Aranellevanima, a bed for me, and Saironellotoron would take the three and a half hour watch, until it was time to leave. By the time we had finished getting ready, and paying our bill, it was 11:40 P.M. WTT, according to my nearest estimate, and we still had to make it to the forest, and kill the Bolton's Minotaur, to retrieve its horn. As we walked out of the front door of the inn, into the center of the street, I grabbed my friends hands, and Saironellotoron said"loqoceleg" meaning "Run swiftly," and started to sprint. I started to sprint towards Bolton's forest at 63 steps per second, reaching it in less than one minute, followed by Saironellotoron and Aranellevanima less than 2 seconds later. The first thing I noticed was the noise of the tree's "song." The noise was unlike any noise I had ever heard in a forest, because it sounded like screams, but due to the different sizes of the holes, it was disharmonious. Turning towards the two of them, I said: "Listen for my shout." Immediately following their nods, I turned and walked into the forest. Inside of the forest, the noise was deafening, due to the sound waves bouncing off of themselves, so I tried to tune it out, but only succeeded in muffling it mentally, then continued to look for a Minotaur. It was ten minutes before I ran into either one of them, and it was Saironellotoron. He tried to say something, but I couldn't hear him so I signaled him to keep looking, and we moved on. I continued walking for what seemed like an eternity, with the noise continuing to pound, when I realized that it seemed to be slightly quieter, behind me. I turned to see why it was quieter when I felt an extreme force hit me in the side, and as I flew through the air, I saw a flash of brown as I landed with a loud crack and a gasp. "maurëni meldonya ta meldenya!" I screamed, meaning "I need my male friend and female friend!" However, I realized a problem. They couldn't hear me. I tried to stand, but my leg was broken, so I looked at a nearby tree, set a waypoint at the top, and I quickly said, "Thia na le ecthal" meaning "appear at the point," and teleported to the top of the tree, just a tree was splintered by the Minotaur, quickly, I lit a piece of Nimloth's hair, and signaled "Send a message to the two" Then I showed her my leg, and the Minotaur, and disconnected the hair message, and snapped my leg back, into place. Then I jumped from the tree, as the Minotaur, shattered it. I whispered "envinyanta," meaning "healed," and as I landed I rolled along the ground to change the direction of the force, just as Saironellotoron and Aranellevanima came into the clearing, saw the Minotaur, and jumped out of the way as it charged them. I noticed that every tree it splintered seemed to make the forest a small amount quieter, and If I shouted, Aranellevanima and Saironellotoron could now hear me. "DISTRACT HIM!" I shouted. They both nodded and I watched as Saironellotoron began to taunt the Minotaur, drawing its attention away from Aranellevanima and I. As the Minotaur, shattered two more trees, I shouted "fúmë!" meaning "sleep!" The minotaur slowed, then stumbled, then fell on its face, asleep. I walked over, and told Aranellevanima to hold on to its life force, so that she could reanimate it, after Saironellotoron finished removing its horn. Finally, after three days of searching, at 1:37 WTT, we had gathered the horn of Bolton's Minotaur.
