Breaking The Spell

"Alright," Sarah said, writing the spell down in ancient Hylian. "This is what you need to learn for the spell. But this-" she quickly jotted down the spell in their modern language for him to understand. "-is what you need to be thinking."

Nate picked it up.

"Spirit consumed by darkness, puppet to someone else; Let in the light, push out the dark; Only the purest heart filled with love will set you free." He smiled. "That's kind of pretty," he said.

"Spells like this usually are," Sarah agreed. "Now, I need you to try and recite this in the ancient Hylian above it."

Nate nodded and began to speak slowly, then stopped.

"This is tough," he said.

"It is," Sarah said, "but you can do it. Just think of Jimmy."

"What about Jimmy?" asked a voice. They spun around to find Jimmy in the doorway. "You really were stupid enough to come back here, knowing I'd find you, Sarah?"

Nate looked around as Jonathan, Jirard, and Justin came running in.

"We sensed a dark disturbance," Jonathan said.

"We know how to save you," Nate told Jimmy. "I may not have the ancient Hylian down, but hopefully doing the spell in modern Hylian will work just as well. Sarah, Justin, Jirard, Jonathan. Combine your powers with mine."

Jimmy just laughed as the Golden Gods and the Sorceress gathered around Nate, then began to give him their powers. Jimmy started to attack with the white sword he held, once they were focused on the spell, only to be stopped by another Master Sword. Link looked Jimmy directly in the eyes before pushing him back.

"Nate," Morgan called as she joined Link in fighting Jimmy, "do the spell now!"

Sarah's spellbook flew from Nate's hands, glowing with a brilliant white light. Nate closed his eyes, concentrating on his powers.

"Spirit consumed by darkness, puppet to someone else; Let in the light, push out the dark; Only the purest hearts filled with love will set you free!"

Morgan watched as Jimmy was showered with the light.

"No!" he screamed. "Stop it! Stop it!"

"Nate, more!" Morgan called.

Nate nodded, chanting the spell again. Jimmy screamed in pain, then fell silent. Morgan knelt down next to him.

"Morgan?" he asked, looking up at her. "Oh Gods, your cheek."

He wiped the blood from the deep gash he'd left on her cheek, but more blood appeared immediately, running down her cheek.

"It's just a scratch," Morgan said.

Jimmy smiled as Nate healed Morgan's and Link's wounds.

"It's always just a scratch," Jimmy said. He looked at the sword in his hands. "This sword," he said.

"The Sword of the Sages," Sarah said. "That sword belonged to the sage of water in the Twilight Era."

Jimmy nodded.

"But Ganondorf weilded it in that time, after the sage failed to destroy him with it. Instead, Ganon used it to kill the sage." He took a deep breath. "And now, it's fallen into the wrong hands again."

Morgan shook her head.

"No, Jimmy," she said. "You have it, now. You can choose to use it, or we can seal it away to protect it. Either way, you choose."

Jimmy looked around.

"Give it to Jon," he said. "He deserves it. He's helped us so much, the least we can do is give him the ability to fight alongside us. But, there's something much more important you should know."

"What's that?" Morgan asked.

Jimmy looked at the sword in his hands.

"Sonny's back."
