Chapter three: Hero Part 2
Adrian POV
The room was huge and the ceiling was covered in painted scenes and the walls were lined with ornate panels of stained glass. At the center of the room was a plinth with a thick old book with blank pages lying open on . Next to the book was a red quill with black spots in a matching ink pot. That's......odd..... I thought as I examined it. I looked away from the plinth for a moment and looked around the room again hoping to recognize the people depicted in the stained glass. I looked directly above the plinth and caught my breath. The window depicted a woman with long red hair and blue eyes dressed in a long red and black dress. In the panel next to her was a man dressed all in black he had startling green eyes and black hair. Both held what looked to be partial spirals. They looked like they could have been reflections of each other, if not for the fact that in the black spiral that the red haired woman was holding had a circle in the fatter end that looked like a red circle with five black dots in it while the man's white spiral had a black circle with a green paw print. It suddenly hit me who they were and the shock almost sent me reeling. They were the Kwamis of creation and destruction, our oldest gods, I immediately remembered the destruction god's name: Plagg, I'd heard it all my life- he was the source of my powers it was his fault that I would never be fully accepted by the kingdom no matter how kind I was. But no matter how much I had hated him as a child, always being told that I was only good for destruction and wouldn't amount to anything because of my powers, I couldn't help but feel awed- reverent even- by him as I looked up at the panel. It only took me a moment longer to remember the goddess' name, I remembered she was called Tikki but that was really all I could think of for her other than the fact that she was the source of Ladybug's power. After staring at the panels for another minute I shook myself from my reverie and went back to the task at hand. I looked all over the room trying to find a way to summon Ladybug but I couldn't find anything that stood out. I groaned and muttered angrily as I made my way back to the middle of the room.
"Well since this is literally the only thing here I suppose it's worth a try." I murmured dipping the quill into the ink pot. I paused for a moment trying to figure out what to write and then I placed the quill to the paper. the second the pen made contact I felt a jolt run through my entire body, it was like I'd been stuck by lightning or something. With every stroke the feeling got stronger and stronger, by the time I finished writing my entire body felt as if it were vibrating, like I was filled with angry bees. I placed the quill down and wondered what to do when the page suddenly began to glow and the room was filled with wind, I covered my eyes and moved to hide behind a pew until the wind stopped. Then all of a sudden it stopped, no glow, no wind and when I moved back to the book there was no sign that I'd ever written in it in the first place except for a single blot of ink in the corner of the page. I waited for something else to happen and just when I was ready to give up and leave I heard a faint groaning from the front of the room. I made my way to the source of the sound and discovered a black haired girl who looked around my age lying prone on a pile of pews. She groaned again and I cautiously approached her. She opened her eyes slowly and I couldn't help but gape, her eye color matched Tikki's from the stained glass exactly.
"Ladybug......." I whispered hoarsely as I slowly knelt next to her. She looked up at me with half-closed, unfocused eyes and murmured,
"Oh great...... I'm dead......."
