Marinette POV
I locked myself in my room cried my eyes out. Alya, Sabrina, and Nino all came by to see how I was doing because apparently the news of Adrian's and my engagement being called off had gotten around. No! Don't forget, there was no engagement to begin with!
"It was all just a lie....." I murmured wiping away my tears furiously. I hugged a pillow and cried some more before I heard something fall off my desk. I walked over to pick it up and saw that it was the scroll that brought me here in the first place.
"After everything that's happened I never actually got to read this....." I mumbled laughing to myself. I opened it and started to read:
My name is prince Adrian Noir of the Papillon kingdom. Our world, my home, is in peril. A scourge of monsters is slowly destroying everything, I fear we may be next. I have tried calling all of our allies to arms but I fear it may not be enough. I am well aware that this letter may never be recieved and that I may be risking my father's wrath for nothing more than a fairytale but if you do receive this, we desperately need your help. I know that this is nothing more than a selfish request from a perfect stranger begging you to help a land you may not even care for after what my ancestors did to you and your family so long ago, but I can only hope that you may see past that issue and accept my plea.
"Please Ladybug we need you" I jumped suddenly hearing Adrian's voice as I read the final line. I looked up and saw him standing by the door. I hadn't realized it yet but the sun was setting outside my window, dying my room a deep blue in the twilight. I glared at him wiping away any stray tears.
"What are you doing here? Better yet how did you get in?" I asked as coldly as I could. He chuckled and for a split second I found myself melting a little before I pulled myself together.
"Nathanael and Marc still remember my threat from the night I summoned you here....." he answered, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. I scoffed and rolled my eyes as I lit a few candles throughout my room casting a strange, almost dreamlike golden glow over the room. He took a step forward and I brandished my box of matches at him.
"Not another step 'your highness', I don't care who you are or what your power is, come near me and I swear I'll beat you until my knuckles are raw." I warned and he laughed before saying,
"That's exactly the kind of attitude that I fell in love with." He said meeting my glare with a look of pure adoration. I fumbled for words for a moment and,far faster than I could have reacted- especially considering the mess his comment made me-, he crossed the room and captured me in an embrace. I fought against him and demanded,
"Let go of me!" He tightened his grip around me and, mumbling into my shoulder, responded,
"Only if you promise to listen to what I have to say." Not being able to ignore the fact that my heart was hammering in my chest I nodded stiffly. He let go and stood with his hands firmly planted on my shoulders.
"Marinette I haven't thought of you as an outsider since you first got here. Of course I thought that way back then, at the time you were, but for the last month you have adjusted completely. Other than the times that you have mentioned Paris I've forgotten that you don't come from here entirely." He said sincerity written all over his face. I smiled slightly before remembering that I was still angry at him. He continued,
"As for being a bad influence, you're only so bad as Nino or Alya, they have been trying for years to get me to relax and until you came along nothing worked. You made me capable of doing something that I had never been able to do, stand up to my father. Throughout my childhood I always felt like I was just like the servants and guards in my father's eyes but I'd never said anything because I never had the courage. The night I brought you here was the first time I had ever really disobeyed him. You being there, you being here gives me courage. You're my lucky charm Marinette, and even if you don't want to forgive me, I will always love you more than I could ever express." I froze on the spot. My mind raced as I tried to process the thing he'd just told me. H-h-h-he......l-l-l-l-lo-loves me?!?!?!?!?!?! I thought as my heart essentially exploded. What I wanted to do was grab him by the collar of his shirt, say something along the lines of "of course I forgive you", and kiss him right on the mouth. What ended up happening in stead was I barely managed to spit out a mess of sounds that may have at one point been words and practically started to foam at the mouth. Adrian looked at me like I had grown a couple of extra heads and then started to laugh at me. I slowly began to regain my ability to think and punched him lightly, as one does when the person who they have been in love with for about a month tells them that they feel the same. I punched him a couple times before he stopped laughing. He wiped away a tear of joy and I, suddenly seeming to forget that I wasn't in Kansas anymore flipped him off. He paused for a moment and I all at once hit me what I was doing and I immediately dropped my hand and shot it behind my back. He leaned forward and looked me in the eye before asking,
"Now, why would you have gone and done something so rude, my lady?" He had a devilish smirk written across his face and I found myself leaning away from him nervously. Unfortunately for both of us in the heat of the moment both of us seemed to forget the fact that I happened to be the klutziest person alive. One of my legs went out from under me and got tangled with his legs and we both ended up falling onto the floor. He supported my head with one of his hands and supported my back with the other, while keeping himself from falling onto me by propping himself up with his elbows. We layed there staring at one another in a muddled shock. Then Adrian slowly began to lean down and I found my eyes starting to flutter closed. Just as I could almost feel his lips against mine we both heard a loud disapproving voice call,
"My, my what do we have here?" We both looked up towards the door and saw Adrian's mother standing just inside the room. His father followed closely behind her and immediately got the uncomfortable look of a parent who just saw their child doing something that they will never be able to unsee. The two of us quickly separated and Adrian's mother snapped her fan closed and said,
"It would appear that I was right to claim that this girl was a bad influence on you Adrian, after all this is the second time I have caught you in this situation." Adrian blushed profusely but I was too angry to be embarrassed. I glared at her and stated,
"The 'situation' you keep finding us in is me being clumsy and your son attempting to be a gentleman and keeping me from getting concussed! I'm not being a bad influence, I just have two left feet, last time I checked that wasn't a crime anywhere." She glared at me levely and said,
"See Gabriel? I told you that she was just some disrespectful wretch." I bristled but before I could say anything that I knew I would regret, Adrian stepped in front of me and said,
"Mother I am not going to allow you to talk about Marinette like that any longer, she isn't some wretch, she's a noble woman just like you are and deserves to be treated accordingly." I blushed at his confidence and stared at him adoringly. She however failed to see any merit in his statement and instead scoffed and replied,
" 'Noble woman'? Please, she's the descendant of a rebel who was banished and an outsider to our world. You shouldn't have even summoned her here in the first place." Adrian glared at her and in a chilling tone of voice that I had never heard him use stated,
"Mother, that is my betrothed you are insulting, I strongly suggest that you stop and apologize to her now." I stared at him almost feeling scared as she glared back at him. I stepped out from behind him and took his hand. I gave him a reassuring smile, even though I admittedly felt the rage of a thousand suns, and he seemed to relax. The king looked at us with an almost fond expression and turned to his wife.
"Please, Emilie, I know it isn't going to be easy for you to accept but you have to see that they are young and in love. Surely you remember the time when we were in their position?" He cajoled as he tried to help us. But instead of listening to him she rounded on him and declared,
"I don't know what kind of spell this child used to bewitch the two of you but it stops now!" She began to stride across the room but paused as she caught a glimpse of my open design book on my desk.
"Would you look at this? It would appear that our beloved witch misses her homeland peasantry." She sneered gesturing to the book. Adrian's father scoffed and stated,
"We spy on her room enough to know about those designs already, the girl has a gift and is merely attempting to express herself. That is no grounds for trouble." I gave Adrian an inquiring look and he threw his hands up in mock surrender.
"He's not speaking for the both of us, I have never spied on your room." He said shaking his head vehemently.

I shrugged just as a heeled shoe made sudden contact with my ribs. I cried out in pain as I was launched into the wall and gasped for breath as I felt the wind being knocked out of my lungs. I coughed a couple of times and noticed that I had blood running out of the corner of my mouth.
"What *cough* are you doing?" I rasped looking up at Adrian's mother. She bent down and tightly gripped my jaw and lifted me up so that we were at eye level before responding,
"I'm doing what no one else will, I'm getting rid of you." With that she let me drop with a thud and a sickening crack from my ribs. I coughed up more blood as both Adrian and his father jumped to my defense.
"Emilie-"
"Mother please!" They said as they tried to reason with her. She ignored them however and once again kicked me hard enough to send me into the wall. I heard a sick thud when my head made contact and I found myself slowly beginning to black out.
(Stop skipping 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨)
I faintly saw Adrian's father calling for guards and Marc and Nathanael pulling her back as Adrian knelt down in front of me. The last thing I saw before blacking out was Adrian's crying face as he tried to say something.
