On August 9, 2011, something would happen that would intrigue many. A user named JC-the-Hyena posted a story titled Sonic.exe to the a tale revolving around an evil Sonic the Hedgehog game. The plot concerns a teenager named Tom who receives a CD and a letter from his friend Kyle, whom he had not seen for two weeks. In the letter, Kyle wrote to Tom that he should destroy the disc as soon as possible before a terrible fate befalls him.

The CD itself had "SONIC.EXE" written on it with a black marker. Tom grew suspicious of the letter. How could a mere game go after someone? Curiosity overcame Tom, and he ended up inserting the disc into his computer to see what it was all about. Tom discovers that the Sonic in the game is vastly different from the one that we all know. This version of Sonic the Hedgehog, known as Sonic.exe or X, possesses bloody eyes with red dots and black sclerae.

The Creepypasta went viral shortly after being posted, and eventually, a game similar to the story got released a year later by a game creator named . Sometime after that, YouTuber uploaded his playthrough of the game to millions of viewers. From there on out, Sonic.exe became one of the Internet's most notorious Creepypastas.

However, with that amount of popularity came some criticism. In January 2014, Sonic.exe got removed from the Creepypasta Wiki because it was considered too clichéd for the site. The author went on a rant about the treatment of his story by the wiki, but he later deleted the rant and apologized for acting immaturely. Since then, though, the story has managed to live on through fan art, spin-off games, reaction videos, and parodies.

Now, the story is ten years old. I have decided to write something slightly different from what I usually write. First, let's get one thing out of the way: Sonic.exe's flaws are almost as infamous as the story itself. Because of that, I have decided to count down ten of the most prominent faults I have found.
