I just realized something, in most cases, countries are there with their humans until the last minuet, or at least I make it like that. And no, I don't just do it for emotional torture, I do it for three other reasons.

1. People deserve to have at least one person their until the end.
2. Humans don't live long, (compared to countries, at least) so I believe the the countries would want to spend every last second with their humans. Plus, they've stuck with them for so long, why go now?
3: in some cases (such as Joan and the Romanov Family) they were killed because someone out there hated them. It's nice to see someone you know in this case (I'm guessing) to be reminded hey, someone loves you.

But anyway, back to the point. Francis watched Joan burn. Gilbert started staying with Fritz when he got older and weaker to take care of him, than one morning, he woke up and found Fritz dead. I know Ivan would have tried to stop the Romanov's from being killed, but I think he realized after that wouldn't happen, he somehow managed to find a way to watch their executions, just to let them know he was their friend and at least he was loyal till the end. Alfred kept being Davie's friend till the end too, he kept looking for that flower, didn't he? And Arthur was at Elizabeth's bedside while she was dying.

I find it very sweet yet very sad that they stuck with them until the end.
