Prologue: The Phone Call?

The lawyer, Alya Cesaire sits in her office.  She dreads this moment.  It is the day she has to make the phone call, or rather phone calls.  She picks up the phone to dial the number for a Marinette Dupain-Cheng, twin sister to her late client, Bridgette Dupain-Cheng.  She is still not sure the correct approach when it comes to the details she is about to share with her!

"Hello?" Marinette says as she answers her phone.

"Hi, is this Miss Marinette Dupain-Cheng?"  Alya ask.

"Yes, and who might this be?"  Marinette says. She thinks perhaps it could be a boy calling to ask her out.

"This is Alya Cesaire, you see I am an attorney.  I handle wills, and I am sorry to inform you of this, but your twin sister, Bridgette is well, you see she uh..."  Alya says.

      "She what?"  Marinette says.

"She passed away over a month ago!  I was told to call to tell you that you are in the will as the one to inherit her land, her house, furniture, car and all the other things."  Alya remarks.

"What?  She can not be dead!  She was fine just two months ago!" Marinette blurts out into her end of the phone receiver.

"I am so sorry for your loss." Alya says.

"Thanks for telling me, good bye!"  Marinette hangs up in tears.  She can not believe it!  Her own flesh in blood, her only sibling is dead.  Talk about quite a shock!  She is denial, feels guilt, shame and sadness at this horrible news.

Meanwhile, Alya the lawyer picks up the phone again and this time she dials the number for an Adrien Agreste. She shares the news that a distant, friend of the family, a Bridgette Dupain-Cheng is no longer with us.  She begins to explain to him that he is a duo inheritor of the legacy.

"What just a minute there now, Miss Cesaire!  I do not know any Bridgette's!  Furthermore, I could care less about such a legacy!  Good day, Miss!"  Adrien says.  He is about to hang up...

"Sir, it is is of the upmost importance that you come to the reading of the will.  Now, normally it would be read soon after the cilent's death, but in this case she did request that I wait until a month later to have it read in your presence along with that of Miss Marinette Dupain-Cheng, the young ladies, twin sister.  You see you have to come to it or well, I am afraid you will loose the fortune!" Alya remarks.

"Fortune?  Why did you say so in the first place?  In that case you shall see me in two weeks."  Adrien says into the phone.  He hangs up soon after this.

Alya feels annoyance at once towards Adrien and thinks, he sounds like a complete and utter snob!  How on earth his family ever became friends with the Dupain-Cheng family is beyond me.  She also feels a bit of pity towards  Marinette who obviously took the news rather hard.  She only hopes that Marinette will agree to come in two weeks to claim her share of the inheritance.
