Chapter 2- Ali
At first I thought the sound of engines were just the cars going by the school on the road, but someone in the room screamed and pointed out the window. They certainly weren't normal cars. They were army trucks, like the ones we had before the Changed came into existence and the new Government was formed. In fact, I think they were from beyond the start of the 22nd Century which is really old. Not that I was interested in that. I only knew they were old because of all the lectures I had to sit through in technological warfare. What was scarier was that these six trucks had giant guns mounted on them and the masked men and women buzzing around them were loading them, pointing them straight at the school, surrounding the building.
And to think I thought it would be a normal day.
"Nick..." I trailed off, not wanting to finish the thought.
"Oh damn..." he answered.
"They're here for them!" someone shouted out.
"They'll kill us all!" another girl shrieked.
"Grab them and we'll give them to those guys!" a boy screamed. Our own classmates were circling us now, giving us death glares. The ones that were Changed were summoning their powers, ready to fight us as soon as someone gave the word...not that I thought anyone was willing. I realised that Nick was the only one keeping me alive right now, with nothing but his reputation at that. But if Nick was keeping me safe...
"Nick," I said, suddenly panicked. "Will ! " He'll never be able to fight off his classmates. That just wasn't him.
"Umm...right," Nick stammered. "Guys, we're just going to get out of here so if you'd just let us through." After just seeing our parent get kidnapped on live T.V. we were doing a pretty good job at pretending we were ok. In truth, I could see the fear and uncertainty in Nick's eyes.
"We should hand them over!" A boy screamed. Everyone murmured their agreements but no one surged forward to grab us. Once again, our reputation was preventing us getting beaten up by a mob.
"Guys, we promise that we're going to leave," I called out. "Just let us through and we'll be g-" Before I could finish the sentence, the building suddenly shook so drastically that everyone in the room fell to the floor. Nick was the first up, grabbing me by the arm and yanking me out the door.
The trucks outside were starting to shoot. The kids completely forgot about us and started screaming, running towards every exit. "We have to find Will!" I shouted at Nick. His eyes looked unfocussed, terrified but something in him snapped.
"You go and get Will," he said, his eyes turning a shimmering white. "I'm going to teach those guys that no one messes with my family." Before I could protest, he was sprinting down the corridor towards the main entrance, too fast for me to catch up.

I pushed against the flow of kids that were trying desperately to get out of the building. There was a fire on the top floor and the building was tumbling down already. The school was never meant to survive this kind of attack.
By the time I got to Will's classroom, everyone was gone from it. "Will!" I shouted. "Will, where are you?!" Smoke was starting to swirl in the room, the fire alarm blaring in my ears. I crouched to the floor, coughing it all up. "Will!" I croaked.
"Ali!" Will coughed. "Ali, I'm here!" I crawled under the desks and found him crumpled on the floor in the corner, a nasty cut across his forehead. "What's happening?"
"The meeting was attacked," I gasped. "Someone got mum, dad, Aunt Tess and Uncle Caleb."
"What?!"
Will, come on!" I cried. "We have to go!" I grabbed his hand and yanked him up, dragging us both out of the class room. To the left, the stairs were blazing with fire. The smoke was literally swarming around us now. It burned my eyes and I couldn't see a thing.
"Ali," Will choked. "Get down." I followed his instructions and slammed myself into the floor. Will opened his arms wide then drew them slowly in, as if against some sort of weight. The smoke around us all drew into him, create a ball of smoke in his hands. His face turned red with the effort of keeping in contained.
"I can't hold it for long," Will groaned. "I need somewhere to put it." Suddenly, the building shook again as another grenade hit it. Will managed to keep his concentration but was knocked off his feet. Every second he was drawing in more and more smoke as the fire consumed more.
"All right, Will," I said. "You're going to need to hold onto that smoke." I stood up and stomped the ground, right over where I could sense the water pipes running. The water exploded in a tight cylinder in front of me before I expanded it. It swept up me and Will as I channelled it like a water slide towards the exit. I picked up other kids along the way before we blasted out of the main entrance and onto the road. Most of the kids picked themselves up and ran away but Will and I stayed where we were, trying to locate Nick.
There he was, floating in mid air with balls of lightning crackling in his hands. The soldiers were shooting at him but he was deflecting the bullets with ease. He couldn't keep that up though.
"Will, let go of the smoke!" I yelled at him. "At them!" The smoke was spinning like a torpedo in Will's hands. He looked at me like I was crazy but then aim the smoke at the soldiers then unleashed it. It came billowing out of his hands, engulfing our attackers.
Nick floated down to us, his eyes still bright white. "We have to get out of here!" he said. "Will, how long can you keep that smoke up?"
"Depends on how much I have," Will answered.
"We need to think of something else," I said. "Nick, we need to get away."
"We have to hold these guys off so the other kids can get away," Nick said.
"Nick!" I shouted. "Listen to me. We need to get out of here! We are the ones they want!"
"Guys, I'm running out of smoke!" Will yelled at us. Sure enough, his cloud was thinning and we could see the soldiers inside stumbling around. Nick looked around, wild eyed. He was panicking, you could see it in his eyes.
Beep!
A horn went off in our ears causing us all to cover our ears. Will's smoke dissipated in doing so. More trucks came screeching around the corner but these weren't the one we had been fighting. New Government soldiers jumped out of the van, taking out and arresting the ones that were attacking the school. A woman got out of the front van and seemed to be giving the orders. She glanced at us as if she'd just noticed three kids, two of which were soaking wet and the other looking filthy, before sighing and coming towards us. Beside me, Nick stiffened and went pale.
"Nick?" I asked, nudging him with my elbow. "You know her?" The woman had reached us now, her steely eyes scanning us.
"Nicolas," she said. "It's good to see you." Nick glared at her.
"Ali, Will," he said. "This is Commander April Palmer...my grandma."

Ok second chapter up and the story officially up and running! Yay!
So what did you think of this one??? I hope you liked Ali's p.o.v. There will some of Will's p.o.v soon too for those who are interested. This chapter was where I have officially revealed the threes' powers. I wanted Ali's to be classic, Nick's to be kind of different and Will's just to be way out there because he'll be playing an important part in this story.
Ok don't forget to vote and comment! Hope the sequel is going well!
Love all of ya!
