Chapter 14: Well, That Was Fun

(Percy's POV)

"The gods?!"

It seemed like nobody in the room could believe the suggestion.

It had been two days since the whole traveling to the future incident. Piper had been broken, and I mean broken. She wouldn't talk unless she had to, didn't laugh at Leo's jokes. She didn't even whack him for making the joke!

Supposedly, Jason had been making her sleep in the Zeus Cabin for the past two nights. But she hasn't been talking, like I said. We all missed the old Piper.

And now, here she was, two days later, suggesting that we should go see the Olympians for advice. Piper seemed to be annoyed with our outburst.

"Yes, the gods," she insisted hoarsely. Her voice was scratchy, and it sounded like she forgot how to talk. "My mom told me...in a dream."

"In a dream? But you haven't slept the past two nights," Jason argued.

"She just told me, okay?" Piper shouted. She realized how loud she was and took a deep breath. "Look, I know we all hate them with a burning passion, but they actually might be helpful for once. So can we just...agree with me?"

Annabeth sighed. "Fine. We leave in the morning. Should we bring the legacies?" Piper shook her head. I guess she's back to not talking. Annabeth nodded. "Alright, then. Meet on Half-Blood Hill in the morning."

As we dispersed, I walked up to Annabeth. "Were you able to find out what happened to Piper?"

She rubbed her eyes. "No. I asked Rachel what the machine could show us. I asked Jason about Piper's nightmares. I even prayed to my mom for help! And nothing!"

I sighed. "You'll figure it out."

Annabeth dragged the skin under her eyes. "I'd better, otherwise, we might've just lost our Piper."

...

I always hate going up to the 600th floor.

Not just because I'm literally going to go see every hated family member I own, but because the ride is painful.  And not only that, asking the secretary for a key is awkward, especially if there's people around. Bailee, one of the secretaries, has seen all of us, so she just knows. But she's not always on the job. I'm pretty sure she's a demigod.

But unfortunately, Bailee wasn't there today. The guy there, Bill (do they just hire people with names starting with B? Do they have a Brooke, a Brock, and a Barney?), didn't believe we were demigods and Piper had to charmspeak him. It was by far the weakest charmspeak I've ever seen her use.

...

"Perseus," my dad nodded. "Annabeth, my dear. Why are you up here today?"

I'm not gonna lie, it made me happy for my dad to call Annabeth "dear". It sounded like half of the problem was solved. Now we wait for Athena, but honestly, I don't want her calling me "dear" or "son".

But anyway, it was weird being back up at Olympus. The gods have been dormant for so long, seeing them together was a change. And another thing: seeing Mr. D! I hadn't seen him in a while. I mean, I saw him in Kansas, but that was Bacchus, so it was more like Mr. B than Mr. D.

"Dad," I started. "Uh, we kinda have a problem."

"What kind of problem?" Athena interjected. She gave me a stone cold glare that made me recognize the Annabeth - Athena resemblance. But thankfully, Annabeth stepped in.

"Twelve children appeared in the Northern Woods a few weeks ago. They claim to not remember anything except their names and the other kids. According to clues, they are from the future and um...they're our future children," Annabeth explained.

"Who's children specifically?" Aphrodite gushed.

Reyna stepped forward, giving us a look like "prepare to be embarrassed". "Percy and Annabeth, Jason and Piper, Frank and Hazel, Leo and Calypso, Nico and Will, Travis and Katie, and Clarisse and Chris." Aphrodite squealed with joy. Athena, on the other hand...I think she wanted to strangle me until there was no "me" left to strangle.

"According to future documents, I also have a deceased daughter named Juliette. Thalia Grace also has a late daughter, Phoebe. Rachel Dare has a missing daughter named Amber, and there's also a daughter with unknown parents: Lana. All of the legacies at our camp currently have been found as missing in the future," Reyna further evaluated.

"Interesting," Zeus interjected. "What else do you know?"

"Well, we know that whatever it is, it has to do with Hera. They showed up with lanyards saying 'Hera's Blessed Legacies Society'. Ring a bell, Hera?" Clarisse growled.

"Not at all," Hera deadpanned. Clarisse continued to glare at her.

"In the future, our children are taken away to Hera's Blessed Legacies Society," Annabeth explained. "But I'm confused. In the future, don't know that they were taken. As far as we know, they're dead! So, why don't we know? We should, I mean, it caused us a lot of trouble."

"Well, it is possible that you took something to forget it," Athena pondered. "But more likely, they might've come from a different timeline. Don't make me explain, it's a pain in the neck."

"So, these legacies are from a different timeline? So, we don't have these kids in the future?" Katie asked.

"Yes, it seems so. You may still have kids, but they will not be these kids," Zeus finished.

The group's aura suddenly dropped from "meh" to "utterly depressed." We had all gotten along well with the legacies, and now, they're not even really our kids.

"One more thing: before we go," Annabeth piped up. "When we were in the future, I heard rumors about a Hurricane Omega that happened just around this time. Do you know anything about it?" I heard Piper audibly gasp nearby me.

The Olympians look at each other in fear and despair. "Hurricane Omega wasn't supposed to come for another hundred years," Hermes informed us. "If it comes now...we could be doomed."

"Apollo, Demeter, Hermes, get Artemis. All of you need to figure out when this storm is coming immediately. Aphrodite, Hephaestus, and Ares (woah that's gonna be awkward), start to barricade Mount Olympus. The rest of us, meet in the tactics room for a battle strategy. Demigods, go home. We'll have Hermes give you information, once we have it," Zeus ordered.

"But-" I protested.

"Go home!" Zeus yelled.

...

"Should we  prepare for Hurricane Omega?" Leo asked. "It doesn't seem like a good thing."

"The gods don't have everything sorted out yet. We'll have to wait until we know more about it," Nico shrugged.

We shook it off for the time being, because Piper was finally acting more normal. We were all kinda focused on having her back. But the question still hung in the air: What is Hurricane Omega and what will it do to us?
