The Lazy Life of Raine

Raine opened her eyes and saw the dreaded white ceiling.  She looked to her left and right, but immediately stopped as her breath became erratic.  The white wall to her left has a landscape picture hanging on it. To her right, was a window.  Outside of the window was blue skies. There was a television in front of her, and several machines that she was connected to.

Raine knew this place.  This was the place of her death on Earth.  It was her hospital room. Her laptop was open and her email showed that the email she wrote was successfully sent.  She had just sent her siblings her last email.

“Calm down.”  Raine said as she struggled to sit up.

Raine checked her wrists and neck to see if the metal cuffs were still on her, but there was nothing.  Raine pulled the blanket over legs and saw that there was nothing on her ankle as well.

Raine looked around the room suspiciously, not believing her surroundings.  Headquarters could have sent her to a parallel timeline of her world. Or everything that she was experiencing could be a simulation.

The nurse walked in and greeted Raine.

“Good morning.”  The nurse said as she smiled at Raine.  “Do you need assistance to the bathroom?”

“No.”  Raine said as she stood up.  “No, thank you.”

Raine wheeled her IV drip with her to the bathroom while looking back at the nurse to see what the nurse was doing.

“Alright then.” The nurse said as she looked over Raine’s chart and checked the equipment. “Did you sleep well last night?”

Raine entered the bathroom and closed the door.  When she looked at the mirror, the face staring back at her was not her original face.  It was the face that has been altered and changed.

Right then she knew she was still in Headquarter’s hands.

“What’s going on?”  Raine whispered as she used the bathroom and flushed it.

While washing her hands, she looked around the small bathroom for any clues, but couldn’t find anything off.  Raine walked out of the bathroom and saw that the nurse had waited for her.

The nurse smiled gently at Raine and waited until Raine got into bed before helping Raine with her blanket.

“Did you have any issues last night?”

Ranie shook her head no as the nurse took her vitials.

“The doctor will be making his rounds soon.  If there anything you’re worried about or if you have any questions you would like to ask, you can ask him when he’s here.”

Raine nodded her head.

“Did you get in contact with your family?”

Raine nodded her head.

“Okay.  That’s good.  If you need anything, just ask.”

The nurse left and closed the door after her.

Raine closed her eyes and concentrated on the magic inside of her.  The cultivated magic inside of her was very little, it was as if all the pain that the Succubus ate and converted into energy for her was spent.  Raine began to cultivate the small magic energy in the air.

She steadied her breathing and cultivated, waiting for Headquarter’s next move.  The doctor came and left, just checking on her chart before leaving. He did not wake Raine up, seeing how she was sleeping.

Every time someone came inside her room, Raine would open her eyes to see who it was before closing her eyes again.  All throughout the day and night, it was only nurses and hospital aides that checked in on her.

“Scam?”  Raine called out in her mind, trying to reach out to him.  “You there?”

Scam was her only hope to reconnect with Isao and help her escape her situation.

“Scam?”  Raine called out again.  However nothing answered her.

Raine pulled out her cell phone and redialed her brother, Leo’s number.  The time of her death in the past life had already passed. The line connected and the phone rang a few times before Leo answered.

His voice sounded rough as if he was woken up from his sleep.

“Hello?  Raine?” Leo said.

The words that Raine wanted to say was immediately stuck in her throat as tears began to fall down her face.  Never would she have thought that she would hear his voice again.

“Raine?”  Leo asked as he looked at his phone again to make sure it was his sister who called him.  “What’s up? Why did you call me so late?”

Raine, his sister who gave up her life to raise him and his siblings.  Raine who was always so selfless and strong, called him twice in one day.  Something must be wrong.

“Leo.”  Raine whispered.  But her voice cracked and made it sound as if she was so weak and in need of help.

Leo sat up immediately as his heart began to pound faster.

“What’s wrong?  What is it?” Leo asked as the sleepiness was wiped clean by her voice.

“It… It’s just really good to hear your voice.”  Raine told him as she cleared her voice and looked up at the ceiling as she pushed her tears back.

“Raine… is everything alright?”  Leo asked one more time as his eyebrows scrunched together.  Why hasn’t Raine answered his question yet.

“Remember that time when we were young and Mom and Dad left you and me alone to watch over the kids.”  Raine began speaking. “I was 13 at the time and you were 12.  Before they left the day was sunny, but after they left it suddenly became dark and stormy.  The kids ran to us because they were scared of the storm, so we built a fort, made from pillows and blankets in the middle of the living room.”

“Yeah, there were so many of us that not all of us could fit in the fort, so you sat that the entrance of the fort, with half of your body out of the fort and half of your body inside.  The rest of the kids shouted that you would be taken by a monster and cried because they were scared that you would leave and never come back.” Leo reminanced with her with a slight smile on his face.

“You remember what I said to you guys back then?”  Raine asked.

Leo thought back to that day and remember how calm Raine was when she gathered them together and made sure everyone calmed down from their hysterics before she spoke.

“You said, you’ll guard the door from monsters so the rest of us wouldn’t be caught by it.  And should the monster catch you, we still have each other and would have to rely on each other, even if you’re no longer with us.”  Leo said as the smile on his face fell.

Suddenly he felt as if his whole world was going to fall.  He immediately got up and went to his laptop and opened it.

“Raine…. what are you trying to say?”  Leo asked as he checked his email and began to search for the email that she sent to him.

“Remember to look out for one another and take care of each other.”  Raine reminded him as tears constantly fell down from the corner of her eyes.  “Forgive each other because all we have is each other. Sorry I couldn’t be a better sister for you and for everyone.   I did my best with what I was capable of at the moment. I’m sorry you all lacked so much while growing up. I’m glad that everyone is old enough to take care of themselves now.”

“Raine!”  Leo shouted as he listened to her words.

“My watch at the entrance of the fort is over.”

“Raine!”  Leo shouted again as he opened her email and began reading it.

“Goodbye.”  Raine said as she hung up and shut off her phone.

The words that she always wanted to say to Leo was said.  Her time as the head of the household had come to a close.  Her siblings were all adults now, they could take care of themselves and build their own life.  What they do after her death, no longer concerned her.

It was time for her to concentrate on her own life and get out of Headquarters hands so she could be with the man she loved and the two systems that carved their way into her heart.

Wiping away her tears, Raine sat up from her bed.  She gathered her strength and calmed down her nerves.  Once she opened her eyes, Raine had made up her mind.

“Eat.”  Raine called out to her Succubus. “Eat everything.”

Raine unleashed her Succubus and let it take over.  Her eyes turned completely white as she levitated off of the bed.  The Succubus pushed out all of her Desire power and it spread out in a ten mile radius around the hospital.  Everyone who came in contact with it, fell under her spell and began to have sex with the person next to them.

As their desires and passions rose, the Succubus fed on their sexual energy.  The Succubus ate and ate as if she had been starving for centuries. As the humans under her spell kept on their sexaul activity, their bodies began to wither away.  The Succubus was taking everything from the humans.  Their thoughts, their blood, and their life force. The healthy humans became withered mummies that died while making love.

The Succubus flew up and broke through the ceiling until she floated  high above the hospital absorbing the sexual energy. The loud sirens, the fires caused by car accidents, and everything else was drowned in the cries of pleasure.

Lightning flashed as a loud boom broke through the clouds.  The lightning hit the Succubus and the Succubus fell down from her position.  The scenery around it began to break as darkness fell.

When Raine opened her eyes again, she was inside of the padded white cell.  Her body was still strung up and the pool of blood was below her. Her breath came heavy as she looked around the room.

Was her time on Earth just a simulation or did Headquarters send her to a parallel universe.  The door opened once again as the android walked through. With it, it dragged a lifeless body behind it and threw the body across the room.

The body hit the wall with a thud, before falling down completely without a sound.  Raine looked over at the bloodied body and her heart stopped. It was Leo, her brother.  How did Leo get here? Was Leo even real?

“Still unwilling to talk?”  The android asked as it gripped Raine’s chin to look at him and not at Leo.  “Still willing to be so stubborn?”

Raine gathered her saliva and spat in the android’s face.  Her saliva was mixed with blood and landed right on the android’s face.

“Fuck you.”  Raine croaked out with her sore throat.

Raine’s head snapped back as she was hit by the android.  Raine quickly gave over to her Succubus, as pain radiated through her body and darkness consumed her.

“Raine…. Raine… wake up….. Please wake up…”

Raine’s tired eyes opened to see Leo sitting up and leaning up against the wall.  His arms were to his side and his feet was out in front of him.   All of his limbs were broken and twisted in different angles.

“Raine….”  Leo called out as tears fell down his face.  “Can you hear me? Are you okay?”

Raine’s eyes fell down to the ground and did not look up at Leo again.  That wasn’t her brother. Raine told herself. The man inside of her room was a fake.

“Where are we?  Why are we here?  Why did they ask me questions about you?  What did you do? How can you be here? Aren’t you supposed to be dead?”

Question after question was asked, but never answered.  Raine kept to herself with her eyes on the ground as if she was the only one in the room.

“Answer me Raine!”  Leo cried out. “Why did they hurt me to get answers about you?  Who is Isao? Who is Odan? Who is Scam? What did you get yourself into?  Did you even really die?”

When his questions were unanswered once again he began to shout at Raine.

“How could you leave us all behind?!? You were so sick, yet you didn’t even tell us!   How could you only say goodbye through email! How could you be so heartless! You were supposed to take care of us and yet you left everyone behind!  Why did you leave us?!? Why? So you can run around the universe with this Isao, Odan and Scam? Why? Mom and Dad left us and you were the oldest! You were supposed to take care of us all, until the end!  Why did you leave?”

When his antics were met with silence again he became even more upset.

“Are you even my sister anymore?!?  Do you know what they did to me? They tortured me for answers that I do not know anything about!  They broke my legs and my arms! They beat me up and waterboard me because of you! And you can’t even look at me or even answer any of my questions!  Who are you and what did you do with my sister?”

After his antics fell on deaf ears his silent cries were the only thing that could be heard inside the room.

“Are you willing to let me die for your crimes?  Are you willing to die for those that left you behind?  You’re not even willing to look at me, why would I think that you would save me.”  Leo softly said.

Silence descended the room as they became lost in their thoughts.  Raine was cultivating her magic and ignored everything else.

“Say Raine.”  Leo said once again as he suddenly lost all hope.  “Forget what I said before. If I’m going to die… as long as it is with you… I’ll be fine with it.  I’m sorry about what I said before, I just… didn’t want to die… but now that I see that we can’t get out from this situation, I think it’s better to die together than to die alone.”

When his confession was met with silence once again, Leo scoffed at himself before resting his eyes.  The pain he felt from his broken bones was reaching a climax that he couldn’t endure anymore. Leo closed his eyes and wished that this was all a dream and that it would end soon.

Hours passed before the door opened again and the android walked back inside.

“Have you thought things through?”  It asked Raine again.

“Go fuck yourself.”  Raine told it as she glared at it.

“Very well.”

Raine was put through another round of torture.  This time around the android tortured Leo in front of her, then came back to her to slice her body as it saw fit.

“This could have been so easy, but you had to make it hard for yourself.”  The android said as it sliced an inch deep into her stomach. “But it’s okay, I’m a patient soldier. But the authorities aren’t.  Tell us what we want to know and I’ll give you a quick death.”

Raine felt her life flicker, she was at the end of her life and she knew it.  It was now or never.

“Tell me, even if you are so heartless to yourself, how can you be so heartless to your brother?”  The android asked.

“Why don’t you tell me something first.”  Raine finally said as she blinked away the blood that fell from her eyelid.

“Go ahead.”

“If that man is my brother, as you say he is.  How is it that he can recognize me? Not only is my face and body beaten and battered so badly that even I can’t recognize myself when I look at myself in the mirror.  How is it that he knows that I’m his sister?” Raine asked the android. “The answer is that he isn’t my brother. That he's an imposter. So why would I not be heartless towards an imposter?”

“Hmph… pretty smart are you?”  The android said as it looked back at “Leo”.  “Your plan failed.”

“Leo”  stood up as if there was nothing wrong with him and walked towards Raine.

“When did you find out I was a fake?”  “Leo” asked as it turned back into an android soldier, then back into Leo.

“You two done playing your games?”  Raine asked as she looked between the two of them.

“You think you’re life is a game?  You think all the missions you completed, the lives you changed, the worlds you went into... is a game?!”  The android shouted as it grabbed Raine’s head and pulled it close to it’s head. “None of this is a game!”

Raine pushed her face forward and kissed the android in front of her.  As soon as her lips met the cold metal, Raine began absorbing the android’s  energy and gave it to her Succubus.

“Eat.”  Raine told her Succubus.  “Eat everything.”

The Succubus took over and began absorbing the android’s data and power source.  The Succubus unleashed her powers and within the one mile radius of Raine, her powers spread out wide, influencing the people who worked on board the spaceship.

As their frenzy grew, so did the Succubus’s power, which in turn gave energy to Raine.

“Ahhhh!”  Raine roared as she felt her whole body’s strength come back into her body.

She pulled forward her body and the magnetic cuffs around her wrist moved.

“I need more power.”  Raine screamed as her body began to burn up.  “More strength, ahhhhhhh.”

As her hands came close to each other, the other android with Leo’s face made a move.  It didn’t want to get too close, because it feared that it would become like the other android who laid lifeless on the ground.  However he couldn’t let the prisoner escape as well.

So instead, it took out it’s dagger and threw it at Raine, in hopes that it would injure her and make her stop what she is doing.

Raine saw the dagger being thrown at her and without hesitating she unleashes her natural magic inside of her.

Suddenly the magnetic field inside of the room stops working, causing Raine to drop down to the ground in an instant, avoiding the dagger coming straight towards her.

Raine’s body drops to the ground with a loud thud before she is quickly attacked by the other android in the room.  With one kick from the android, Raine’s body flew and slammed into the other side of the wall.

As Raine spat out fresh blood she wickedly turned her face to look at the android that was slowly walking towards her.

Her body and mind was tired.  But her soul was still fighting to live an extra minute.

The android reached down and grabbed Raine by the neck and raise her up against the wall, dragging Raine high up from the ground.

“What is there to smile about.”  The android with Leo’s face asked Raine.   “You going to die in my hands today.”

“No…you will.”  Raine gasped out as her smile widened further as she reached out and grabbed a hold on to the android’s arm.

The android couldn’t let go of Raine fast enough because her Succubus had already fed off of the android holding her.  This time when she fell, she landed on her feet. Her body hunched over as her hands caught her fall.

Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding!

The transparent screen in front of her rang loudly as the notification rang loudly.

[ Congratulations!  You have successfully completed all transmigrations for ‘Last Dying Wish’ system. 100,000 Soul Force Points awarded.

Congratulations on successfully obtaining 100,000 Soul Force Points.  Per the Intergalactic Transmigration System’s Terms and Agreement Policy, I.T.S. will grant you one wish.  Please state your wish.]

“Fuck, Scam!  Took your sweet time didn’t ya!”  Raine grumbled. “Better late than never, I guess.”

Raine saw the notification screen flash the message over and over.  She closed her eyes and wondered how Scam was able to scam I.T.S into giving her so many Soul Force Points.

“I wish that all crimes against me, Isao, Scam and Odan be dropped and dismissed. I wish to be with Isao, Odan, and Scam until the end of time.  Away from the eyes and control from I.T.S. so we can travel through time and space in peace. I wish that I.T.S. will let us live in peace, as long as we don’t destroy worlds.  Should we destroy a world, I.T.S. will have every right to capture us and destroy us.”

[Granted.]

The moment her wish was granted, darkness fell around Raine one more time.   When she woke up she was inside of Scam’s system space. Her body laid on the bed as the black cat laid on top of her chest, waiting for her to wake up.  Beside her, a warm body laid quietly sleeping as his steady breath breathed in and out deeply.

To her right was a white cat that hogged her pillow as it too slept as well.

“Scam.”  Raine called out in her mind as she stared at the black cat.

[Welcome back, Raine.  We’ve missed you.]

Raine sat across the three men with her arms across her chest as she digested the story they told of their journey while she was being tortured.  Her face began to twitch unbeknownst to her.

While she was being tortured, the three men jumped to a different planet with advanced technology.  The virus that I.T.S. gave to Scam was quickly removed. On the new planet, the three was able to create a super virus and leash it into I.T.S. mainframe and slowly began a total takeover.

The first time Scam hacked into I.T.S, he left a back door open for himself to get back into I.T.S, that was how they were able to unleash the super virus.  Scam took over everything in I.T.S, he took over their data, security, and processing. Everything that was on the mainframe, now belonged to Scam.

The moment Scam went to look for any information on Raine, he received notification of a spacecraft issuing an emergency alert and knew that it was Raine.  Scam quickly found Raine’s location and issued enough Soul Force Points to Raine to grant her one wish from I.T.S.

With the wish granted, she would be free from any restrictions from the I.T.S. Terms and Agreement Policy that she signed.

“So… you mean to say, that, the largest and most powerful, Intergalactic Transmigration System, is now controlled by Scam?”   Raine repeated as her right eyebrow began to twitch. Her Scam is now the all powerful I.T.S.?

“Yes.”  Isao said as he smiled at her gently, not knowing if the three of them were in trouble with Raine or not.  “Look at it as if we now own and have a small company to run.”

Raine’s eyebrow began to twitch even more.  Who were they trying to convince? They stole a whole intergalactic government and called it a “small company.”

Raine sighed heavily and rubbed her temples and eyebrow to alleviate the headache that was hurting her head.

“How is it that I only wanted to live a lazy life with the three of you as we travel through time and space ... and now you’re telling me that Scam is I.T.S. now?  Do you guys know how much responsibility it is to run I.T.S.?”

Isao walked over to Raine and held her in his arms.

“Don’t worry so much about I.T.S.”  Isao told her. “Although I.T.S. is controlled by Scam, Odan controls Scam.  With Odan, everything will be alright. You don’t have to worry about anything going wrong.”

“Hey!”  Scam called out in anger.  “What’s that supposed to mean?”

Odan pulled Scam into his arms and said, “It means that before you can do anything, it has to go through me first.”

Scam looked over to Raine for help, but her vision was blocked by Isao’s back.

“Let’s mend your last wish a bit.”  Isao said as he leaned in to kiss Raine’s cheek.  “Instead of the four of us, let’s make it only the two of us.  Odan and Scam have a company to run.”

“Won’t they miss us?”

“They are connected to us.  So wherever we go, they can always find us and visit us.” Isao tells Raine as he kisses her lips lightly.  “Let's spend a couple hundred centuries together without any kids, what do you say?”

“Alright.”  Raine agreed.
