Survivor (7)

“Your mate?”  Echo said after a long time of silence.  “What does that even mean?”

“Werewolves are blessed by the Moon Goddess to find their other half.  Their soulmate. Because Hiro and I are of the same mind and soul, we are bound by our fate to share our mate.  That person is you.” Kaiya told Echo as she squeezed Echo’s hand.

“We have waited for you for so long.”  Hiro admitted as he too squeezed her hand gently.  “But we knew, one day, the Moon Goddess will deliver you to us, when we need you the most.  During these dark days, we were worried that you would not be found. Who would have thought that you came into our lives, just at the right time?”

Raine swallowed the saliva in her mouth with a big gulp.  Since her fate was tied to Hiro, Kaiya and their pack, the only thing she could do is go along with them and see where things go.

Raine slowly nodded her head once, to let them know she understands and accepts her current situation.  Truth be told, the moment she saw Kaiya and Hiro, she felt a connection to them as well. The red string of fate had now become a golden chain, tying their souls closer to each other.

Suddenly, Echo felt both of her cheeks being kissed and her body was quickly embraced as the two of them hugged her tightly.  The smile on their faces could be seen as the nestled into the crook of her neck and breathed in her scent.

“There’s something I must tell you.”  Echo finally said, breaking up the happy scene.  “Because I don’t know who I am, I don’t know what kind of dangers that are chasing me.  I will put your pack into danger, if I stay.”

“You’re not going anywhere!”  Hiro growled. Echo turned to look at him and his once ink black eyes, glowed red.

“I’m not, but it’s only fair for you guys to understand.”  Echo quickly said as she cupped his cheek. The moment she touched him, his anger quickly dissipated and his eyes turned back to normal.  “All I could remember while driving was to run and get away. As far as possible. Who or what is chasing me, might be still chasing me… even through this zombie apocalypse.”

“Then we will prepare for the worst.”  Kaiya said as she laid her head on Echo’s shoulder.  “We’ll prepare our pack for the worst. We are already living our lives in these dark days, what else is there to be afraid of?”

Echo suddenly had a bad feeling inside of her.  It was as if Kaiya’s words would foretell their future and the chance of survival would be cut short.

After sometime of the three of them cuddling on the couch, Hiro and Kaiya took Echo downstairs into the dining hall.  The moment they walked into the dining hall, everyone stood up from their seats and bowed, welcoming their Alphas and their new Luna.

Echo’s eyes was looking everywhere for the little pup that she saved, her eyes scanned the crowd until she saw the little pup called Gi.  He was sitting towards the front, with his family as he looked up from his bow and waved at her with a huge smile on his face. His mother, who stood beside him, quickly smacked him on the back of his head and forced his head down, to bow once more.

Echo could only smile and hold her laughter back at the scene.  She was also glad that the little pup looked fine and was back to his mischievous self.

Once Echo stood between Hiro and Kaiya, she watched as Hiro and Kaiya took the lead.

“Rise.”  Kaiya said loudly, letting her voice echo through the dining hall without a microphone.

“Thank you, everyone for attending this special dinner.”  Hiro said as he looked proudly upon his pack.

Out of the 300 pack members, 240 showed up, while the rest was working security on their land and special scouting missions.  However, through their connection as a pack, the announcement of their new Luna was already a known fact.

“Let me introduced to you to your new Luna, Luna Echo.”  Hiro told them.

Everyone quickly clapped and cheered as they looked upon Echo with eyes of happiness and wonder.  The news of her powers were already spread loud and wide as several witnesses gossiped about Echo’s courageousness, skill and power.

“Now that we have our Luna by our side, our pack will survive these dark days.”  Kaiya said as she smiled. “Let us celebrate and enjoy each other’s company, appreciate our blessings, and remember our ancestors.  Cheers!”

“Cheers!”  Everyone shouted as they took their drink and held it up towards their Alpha and new Luna, before drinking it.

Once Echo, Hiro and Kaiya sat down to eat, everyone else sat down and ate as well.  The large dining hall was quickly filled with conversation, laughter and running children.

At the Alpha’s table, Echo was introduced to Hiro’s Beta, Beta Tomo, and his wife, who was Kaiya’s Beta, Beta Haeri. They had two teenagers that Echo saved from the humans, Ren and Mei.  Who sat next to Gi.

“Why is Gi a lot littler than the rest?”  Echo leaned into Hiro and whispered.

“He’s what you call the “runt” of the group.  Just a late bloomer.” Hiro told Echo. “But he’s just as much as a trouble maker as the rest of them.”

“I bet so.”  Echo agreed.

Her eyes caught Gi’s gaze again and he smiled widely and foolishly back at Echo.  He was so proud that it was him who brought their Luna back to the pack. All afternoon and evening, he bragged to everyone, willing to listen, of his achievements.  It was only the Elders and his parents who scolded him for his foolishness at going out alone to fight Zombies, but his blessing and luck to help guide their Luna back to the pack.

Hiro suddenly turned his eyes on the foolish teenager who kept staring at his mate.  The moment his Alpha eyes met the young teenager, Gi quickly looked down and turned around in his seat.  His back as straight and his head bowed as if he was a good boy who listened to his elders. He quickly and silently ate his food as if he wanted to become invisible.

“Look at you, threatening a young boy.”  Echo teased Hiro as she reached out to grab his hand.  The moment their hands touched, Hiro immediately calmed down and pulled back his dominante aura.  “He was just saying hi to me.”

“He should be eating his food.”  Kaiya said as she pouted and held Echo’s other hand.  “Instead of trying to take our mate's attention away from us.”
