Survivor (5)

When Raine came to, she saw that she was in a hospital room.

“Not again.”  Raine said as she lifted her head to look around.  The small room had an attached bathroom, however when Raine touched the door handle to leave the room, it was locked.

“Damn it.”  Raine said as she limped to the bathroom and turned on the lights.  She went to the mirror and saw Echo, for the first time. She had black, pixie haircut, hazel almond eyes, and high cheekbones.  With her constant traveling, she had lost a lot of weight and her skin was dry and tan from the sun. Her body had some muscles, however with the lack of food, her body was too thin.

Raine turned on the shower and immediately jumped in.  The hot running water washed away all the dirt and grime off of her body, while relaxing her muscles.  The fresh clean smell of shampoo and soap came over her senses as she scrubbed every inch on her body clean.  She took her time in the shower, letting the water fall over her body.

After a long time, Raine came out of the bathroom with a towel around her body and immediately stopped.  There were two people inside of her room. A man and a woman. They were like night and day.

The man had black hair, while the woman had blonde hair.  The man had dark black eyes, while the woman had light blue eyes.  The man was broad, tall and muscular. While the woman was tall, lean and fit.  The two of them standing side by side was like seeing the same person and not at the same time.  The man was one side of a coin, while the woman was the other side of the same coin.  No matter which way the coin landed, it was still the same person.

Their difference didn’t defer from their unity.  It was as if they knew each other’s thoughts without even saying it or thinking about it.

Raine stopped at the door with her hair still dripping wet, as droplets of water slide down her neck and slowly down her chest.  Two pairs of eyes, moved from her face and moved along with the droplet of water as it made a trail between her clavicles and disappeared between the valleys of her breast.

The air suddenly changed between the three and there was a charged reaction.  It suddenly was hard to breathe and Raine could feel her throat become dry. Before her was two magnificent beings, strong and in control, yet at the same time they could quickly change into an animal.  Literally into an animal.

When Raine fainted, the werewolf she saw was the size of a buffalo.  Never in her right mind, would she think the Scam System would send her into such a world.

Kaiya looked at the petite woman who held so much power inside of her.  When they received word that little Gi was found and that his savior also saved the naughty teens who snuck out from their territory, they have already left with a team to meet their pack nearby.

Who would have thought that the naughty teen wolves and little Gi, along with the little human be met with bad luck and a horde of zombie came their way.  Not only that but the horde also followed them into the forest.

The human was selfless in her ways, telling the teen wolves to leave her behind.  However, they had always taught their pack to leave no one behind. Even though the human couldn’t keep up, she still ran with the teen wolves as long as she could, until the very end.  Where she sacrificed herself to ensure the survival of their teen wolves.

Who would have thought that little Gi would bring good luck to the pack in the small human.  With her powers, she was able to take down a lot of zombies all at once.

More pack members have arrived and they quickly took down the rest of the horde, which was nothing compared to the zombies that the human was able to take down.  Afterwards, they took her to their base and did a bodily checkup on her to ensure that she wasn’t infected. Once she was cleared of infection and her ankle wrapped up, they left her alone to sleep while they settled the pack back into order.

Now that the little human is in front of them, naked as the day she was born.  Wet, like an oasis. With just a towel between them and her, both Hiro and Kaiya could feel the electricity between the three of them.

“What’s your name.”  Hiro gruffly said as he adjusted himself in his seat.  His hard on was quickly hidden, however it didn’t escape Raine’s eyes.

“Echo Knox.”

“Do you remember anything before you fainted?”  Kaiya asked

“I do.”

“What did you see?”  Hiro spoke up.

“Wolves.  Very, very large wolves.”

“Then do you know exactly what we are then?”  Hiro said as his right eyebrow raised up to question her.

“I have an idea, but I’ve only read about them in fantasy books.”

“Are you afraid?”  Kaiya asked Echo.

“No.”   Echo answered truthfully.

“Why is that?”  Hiro asked.

“Because, what’s out there.”  Echo said as she pointed out the window.  “Is much more scary than werewolves.”

“Really?”  Hiro said not believing Echo’s words.

“Yeah.  You’re alive, breathing, thinking, and talking.  But they, the zombies, there’s no life inside of them.  They’re dead and only reacting to primal instincts to survive.  They don’t speak, they grunt and groan. That’s something to be afraid about.”

“How long have you been alone?”  Kaiya asked.

“A little over a month now.  Before that I was with a group, but they... left me behind.”  Echo told them. “I was in the hospital when it happened.”

“Why were you in the hospital?”  Hiro asked as he hid his emotions.

“Car crash. I don’t remember anything before that.”  Echo told them. She could see that they didn’t believe her.  So she dropped her towel. When her towel fell, both Kaiya and Hiro leaned forward.

What they saw, broke their hearts.  The stitches to hold the incision the doctor made, did not heal properly.  There was a long scar from her chest down to her navel. There were also another scar down her left knee and her right thigh.

Echo moved to the side of the room and picked up the clean, folded clothes that were on the table.  She slowly wore the clothes, letting the two of them see the scars on her back.

“How did you survive?”

“Don’t know.”  Echo told them as she finally dressed herself.  “By the time I woke up, the hospital was under attack.  I stayed inside of my room for two days, hoping that it was a dream.  However nobody came. Thankfully somebody locked my door when it all went down.  That was the only reason why I’m here today.”

“Where are you going?”  Kaiya asked

Echo turned around and shrugged her shoulders.

“I don’t have anywhere to go.  I was just moving for the sake of it.  Just trying to outrun the zombies. Trying to survive.  I had planned to go into the next town, for some supplies.  It’s winter now and I needed winter supplies and winter clothes.  That’s when I ran into that little pup.” Echo told them before hesitating to ask her question.  “Is he alright?”

“He’s doing just fine.”  Kaiya told Echo. “Just little banged up, but he healed up nicely.  Thank you, for saving him...and the others. They told us what you did, it was very nice of you to do so.”

Echo shook her head no.  “It was nothing. I really was just passing by… I should go now.”

“No!”  Both Kaiya and Hiro shouted at the same time.  Kaiya looked at Hiro and Hiro looked at Kaiya. Without a word they had already come to a conclusion about Echo.

“You’re welcome to stay.”  Kaiya told Echo. “With us.  With our pack, I mean. You’ve shown to us that you are a trustworthy and courageous person.  You should stay with us, since you don’t have anywhere else to go.”

“And it’s safer here than anywhere else.”  Hiro jumped into the conversation. “Especially since it’s close to winter, not only do you have to fight the cold, but also the zombies.  You don’t have anyone else to watch your back, who knows who you can trust out there. At least here, we could provide each other protection, warmth and food.”

“Can you answer one of my questions before I decide?”  Echo asked.

“What is it?”  Hiro said as he looked over to Kaiya.

“Can werewolves become zombies?”

Kaiya shook her head no.  “So far, the answer is no.  In the beginning, when some of our members in our pack was bitten, they showed no signs of the zombie virus.  It was only humans who turned into a zombie.”

“Why is it that werewolves can't get infected?”

“Don’t know.”  Hiro told her. “Will you still stay, knowing who we are... who you’re going to be staying with?”

“You saw what I can do, what makes you think I’m any better or worse than any of you guys?”  Echo told them.

“So is that a yes?”  Kaiya said with a hopeful smile.

Echo slowly nodded her head and said, “Yes.”
