Heiress (9)
Raine looked down at her half eaten plate of food as her hand under the table became a fist. She also had to bite her lip to stop herself from smiling. She really likes Silver. Although Silver made biting remarks towards her, Silver was straightforward and truthful. If only she could be friends with Silver. Not as Addison, but as Raine. There was something familiar about Silver that was comforting towards Raine.
Craig quickly stood up and placed his napkin on the table.
“I’m not going to sit here while you destroy my reputation in front of others and at the same time say vulgar words towards someone else who you consider your friend. I’m going to leave, because I don’t want to say anything that anyone of us will regret later. If you have an issue with me, you come to me to talk about it… alone and in private.”
Craig pushed his chair in and pulled out wallet to get out his credit card.
“I suggest you start treating those who you consider a “friend” better before we all leave you because of all the bullshit you put us through.”
Craig turned to Addison and apologise for his early departure. He left without Addison’s reply and he never looked back once.
“Sorry.” Silver said as she grab Craig’s full wine glass and drank it down in a couple of gulps. “If I offended you or said anything hurtful, I’m sorry. “
Addison shrugged and pushed her plate back.
“It’s okay.” Addison said as she leaned back into the chair. “Why do you always act this way when Craig and I are together? When it’s just me and you, it’s all good and dandy. However the moment it’s just me and Craig hanging out, you become so different.”
“I can’t help myself. Just seeing the two of you together, just brings out another side to me. I don’t know why I act this way, it just happens.” Silver confessed. “To tell you the truth, I don’t know if I’m jealous because Craig is hanging out with you, or the fact that you’re hanging out with him.”
“But that doesn’t even make sense. Why would you be jealous because I’m hanging out with Craig? You know I don’t think about him like that, I don’t see him like that and we will never be together “like that.”
“Because I meant what I said, I wanted to jump into your bed the moment I saw you.”
Addison smiled and laughed, not holding any weight to Silver’s words.
“Bitch.” Addison jokingly said. “You just want to get into my pants before Craig does.”
“True.” Silver agreed. “Then that way I can hold it over his dumb head for the rest of his life. I would have this trump card to pull out when ever I want to. Addy, what are you doing after lunch? Want to go to a hotel and let me be your oasis in your dry desert.”
“Shut up.” Addison said as she smiled at Silver and got up to leave. “I have to go back to work.”
“You’re just going to leave me, just like that? What about my needs? How are you going to make me hot and bothered then just leave me behind?”
“Sorry, I have a company to run. You have many men and women who can help you get unbothered.”
“But, just imagine the face he would make every time I bring it up that I got into your bed before he did. Please Addy, I’ll make it quick, seeing how busy you are.”
“You need to--” Addison began to say before she tripped over a chair that was suddenly pushed into her way by a customer.
Luther reached out to save Addison, but was a bit slow. When Addison opened her eyes, she knew she was saved.
“Thanks, Luther.” Addison said as she stood up. When she looked at who saved her, her heart quickly harden at who it was. “You’re not Luther.”
“No, I most certainly am not. My name is Kaden. Kaden Gamble.”
“Thank you, sir.” Addison said as she moved away from him. “Have a good day.”
Addison and Silver left with their security entourage. It was only when they were outside that Silver began to tease her.
“Ever the damsel in distress are you.” Silver teased. “Even when you’re just walking normally, men come to save you at each turn. How my heart aches at the chance to also save you so you will only look at me.”
“Whatever.” Addison said as she hugged Silver and kissed her cheek. “You… stay out of trouble. And as for Craig, you need to talk to him and clear up any grievances or misunderstandings you guys have towards each other.”
“Hmmm. Let’s stay like this longer.” Silver teased even more, holding Addison tighter against her body. “Better yet, lets go to a hotel to finish what you started.”
“Shameless.” Addison said as she pulled back. “If I ever was to lie with you, I would only be a notch on your belt.”
“If ever you were to be with me, you would be my one and only.”
“I bet you say that to all the ladies.”
“Only to the special ones.”
“Hahaha.” Addison laughed. “I’m glad to know I’m special in your eyes. See ya.”
Silver stood by the sidewalk and watched until Addison’s car disappeared from her sight. It was only then she entered her car and left as well.
Raine sat silently inside of the car for a long time. She checked the date on her cell phone and turned it off. Kaden Gamble entered her life earlier than she expected. It was because of him that Addison died with regret.
