Happiness (12)

Three days passed and Odan came back with supplies and a soldier. When they met The Keeper and Axel, they were sitting in front of the house drinking their tea as they enjoyed the last rays of sunlight.

"Keeper!" Odan called out as they came closer.

"General!" Troy called out as he ran towards Axel. "I'm so glad that you're alive!"

"Yeah, well I wouldn't have been, had it not been for the Keeper here."

"Thank you, Keeper for saving General." Troy said as he bowed.

"It was fated." Elise said as she smiled. "Come inside, your travels must have been long. I have a large pot of stew by the fire, come and join us."

Elise went to help Odan with the supplies, but Axel came beside her and grabbed all of the supplies from her hands.

"Lets go." Axel said as he lead the way inside of the house. Troy followed him in and left Odan and Elise outside.

"Still haven't jumped his bones, yet?" Scam asked as he stared at the poor Lui Wei.

"Pfft. It's called a delayed satisfaction." Raine told Scam. "I'm in it for the long haul. I'm hoping for a week long sex marathon. Fingers cross for two weeks, but he's a busy man, a week is already pushing it."

"Good it'll give me a week or two of vacation from you horny humans."

"You guys gonna stand there the whole night?" Axel asked as he stood by the door. His arms were crossed above his chest and a frown could be seen on his face.

"Quickly go to your vinegar filled lover before he pulls a sword on me." Scam told her as he took the horses to the stable.

(A/N: Vinegar = Jealousy)

That night was the last night for Axel to be with The Keeper, so he helped her out in the kitchen as they cleaned up. The silence between them was his longing for her. It was deep and vast, however it could only be felt by him.

Her sweet scent now haunted him everywhere he went, but he'll never forget it. No matter what, he'll never forget her. That night they said their goodnights and their goodbyes as Axel and Troy left before the sun rose. Axel stood outside of the home he found with the Keeper and left his heart behind so one day he could find her once again.

[Going to let him leave just like that?]

"Distance makes the heart grow fonder." Raine said as she looks at the black and white cat who crawled into bed with her. "Besides, you know what to do."

[Yes, yes. Place a tracker and surveillance on him.]

"Good boy." Raine said as he scratched the cat's head.

The cat curled up on the side of the bed and close his eyes. His body began to relax until he felt Raine's hand push him off of the bed. His body quickly reacts and lands on his feet.

[What was that for?]

"I don't like sharing my bed with others that can scam me." Raine said.

[Who wants to sleep next to you anyways!]

The cat turned into a transparent sphere and disappeared, leaving his host behind.

After the winter snow fell and as the warm winds of spring began to blow, Elise made her way back to the Devereux Castle. When she arrived, the village kids ran after her horse as she gave them candy and small trinkets that she bought. Word soon spread that God's Hands came back home and by the time Elise arrived to the courtyard, Rose, Brice and Derek were standing by the front door waiting for her.

"Welcome home!" Rose called out as she runs towards Elise and hugs her. "I'm so glad you're back!"

"Me too." Elise tells her as she pulls back and smiles. "I've miss you guys so much!"

Brice and Derek both gave her a hug as they spoke. Elise's horse was taken away by the stableman, while her belongings were taken by servants. While Rose and Elise spoke, Derek and Brice broke away and walked forward, hiding Elise from the on coming riders that came inside of the courtyard.

"Father, Grandfather!" Axel said as he got down. "What brings you out? I thought you both had something important to do."

"We still do. How was your ride? Did you show Sabine around?"

"I did. But we came back because we heard God's Hands traveled straight through the village and to the castle." Axel told them as Sabine came to stand by him.

"Yes, I've always wanted to meet God's Hands. I've heard nothing, but good things about the Doctor."

Suddenly Axel's eyes caught the pastel violet hair that shined virbantly against the sun. Her back was towards the group as she spoke to his mother. His heart began to beat faster and faster yet the whole world around him was moving in slow motion.

"Since you want to meet her so much, let me introduce you guys then." Brice said as he turns around. "Elise. Come here for a minute, my dear girl. There's someone here who wants to meet you."

Elise turns around and the smile on her face freezes once she sees Axel.

"What are you doing here?" Elise said as she felt Rose pull her towards the group.

"You guys know each other?" Sabine asked as she looks between Axel and Elise.

"Mom, Dad, Grandpa, when I told you I met a talented doctor that was also a Keeper, who saved me... it was her." Axel said as he kept his eyes on Elise.

"Elise?" Brice asked as he looked at between the two.

"Yes. I found a very injured soldier and helped heal him. At the time, I didn't know who he was, I was just doing the right thing."

"You are my family's blessing!" Derek said as he smiled at them. "The Gods work in mysterious ways. They brought our families together and we would not be here if not for that divine blessing."

"Yeah." Elise said as looked at Axel before turning her attention to Sabine.

Sabine wore her riding clothes. The blue and brown outfit made her look very chic and noble. Her pink hair was braided and not one piece of hair was out of place.

"Hello, we haven't met before. My name is Elise Sweeny." Elise introduced herself.

"Sabine Turner, I've heard so much about you. I'm so glad that I finally got to meet you!"

"There's really nothing to see. I just do my work and move on."

"But all the stories, of all the illness you cured. Especially the illnesses that other doctors were not able to cure, you did! That's why they call you God's Hands, because you're able to bring back each sick person from death's door!"

"Don't pay attention to the rumors, they exaggerate the stories to create a more sensational folklore. There's always a new and different version to the story."

"But you did save all those people's lives, did you not?"

"I did save most lives, but I couldn't save all of them."

"Then it's good enough for me." Sabine said as she smile.

"Whether you like it or not, they have named you God's Hand for a reason." Axel said as he jumped into the conversation. "I have first hand experience and I say your nickname suits you."

"Thanks." Elise said as she looked away.

"What brings you here to Devereux Castle?" Sabine asked as she tilted her head to the side and asked Elise.

Elise looks at Axel then back at Sabine.

"Family business." Elise said as she tightly smiled at Sabine. "Once the matter is taken care of, I'll be on my way again."

"How long will you be staying?" Axel suddenly asked.

"Haven't decided yet." Elise told him truthfully.

An awkward silence came over the group and Rose quickly came forward and hooked her arm around Elise's arm.

"It's been so long since you came back home, and your travels have been long and arduous. Come rest by the fireplace and have something to snack on while dinner is being prepared."

Rose and Elise walked towards the castle while Derek and Brice follows them.

"Home? This place is home to God's Hand Elise?" Sabine asked as she turns to Axel. "I thought this was your ancestor's home? Why is it home for her too?"

"She's my betrothed." Axel said as he kept his eyes on Elise until she passed through the door. "She came back so we can have our wedding."
