Broken Home (2)
That morning when Raine woke up, she immediately went into the ensuite and checked out how she looked like. She had long blonde hair and green eyes. She had a healthy, 17 year old body and sunkissed skin. She took after her mother, with soft, feminine features and dimples on both sides of her cheeks.
Raine took a shower and reviewed the timeline. She had transmigrated to the day she met Lizzie and York. The day Tyler brought the two of them home and introduced them to her. Violet had a complete meltdown, shouting, pouting, throwing things at all of them.
Ever since then she made it her mission to make Lizzie and York's life a living hell. Calling Lizzie names and disrespecting her, while belittling York and bullying him. It was the beginning of her miserable life.
Raine got out of the shower and dried herself. She walked into her walk in closet and picked out a white summer dress. It was the beginning of the summer break, Violet had just turned 17 years old and still had her senior year in high school to look forward to.
With Violet's inheritance maturing when she turned 17 years old, Raine planned to take the money and invest it, instead of fighting with York for CEO of her father's company, Tate Incorporated.
There was a slight knock on the door, drawing Raine's attention towards it.
"Miss Violet. Your father requests your presence downstairs."
"I'll be right down, Sonya." Raine said as she applied the last of her makeup on her face and pushed her full wavy hair out from her face. She looked in the mirror and smiled. She was ready to begin her mission.
Violet walked out of her room and down the stairs. Her heels clicked loudly against the dark wood floors with each step. She stood still in the middle of the stairway, looking down at the little happy family that Violet hated so much in her life.
Tyler with his silver fox hair and beard. Lizzie with her newly bought, dowdy suit. And York, in ripped up jeans and a white t-shirt.
"You insolent girl, why aren't you coming down here. Are you planning to stay up there the whole day?"
Hateful! Raine thought. So hateful! Violet wants her to get along with this selfish, hateful bastard!
"Maybe." Raine said as she couldn't help herself. "I'm debating how long it would take for me to stay up here and you to have a complete meltdown in front of your new family."
"Disrespectful girl, come down here this instant!" Tyler shouted as his face became red with anger.
"My, my, my." Raine said as she slowly walked down the stairs. "You letting your new family see the ugly side of you so soon?"
Raine turned to York and looked at him from head to toe. He had a mop of black hair that was combed and brushed back. His black eyes stared back at Raine with hidden judgement.
"Surprised are you?" Raine said as she looked between Lizzie and York. "That the sweet man you know and like so much, can act so ill will towards his own blood and family."
"You! You shut your mouth young missy!" Tyler shouted.
He couldn't help himself, the way he acted towards his own daughter. They hardly spoke and when they did, they argued. If he didn't say hurtful words towards her, she would say hurtful words towards him. He did not give a hand to help raise her, so he didn't know to to treat her, how to act or speak around her.
"Now you're threatening me! Ohhhh, I'm so scared." Violet sarcastically said montonely.
Raine could see Tyler's anger erupt like a mountain. His red face became even more red as he reached out to grab his chest as if he was going to have a heart attack.
"Darling." Lizzie called out as she reached out towards him. "Calm down. Miss Violet hasn't even done anything wrong, why are you yelling at her the moment you see her!"
Lizzie hugged Tyler's body and calmed him down as much as she could. She patted his chest and hushed Tyler's raging, hurtful words.
"Wow." Violet said as she raised one of her eyebrows. "What an amazing moment I just witnessed. This is what true love can do! Bless my heart, I just witnessed a miracle."
"You! You!" Tyler could only say before Lizzie glared at him and pulled him behind her so she could "protect" Tyler.
"Let me introduce myself." Lizzie quickly said trying to smooth things over with Violet. "My name is Lizzie Cobb and this is my son, York Woods. We'll be living here with you from today forward."
"They're your family now." Tyler interjected. "Treat them well."
"Family?" Raine sneered. "Do you even know what that word means? Family? Ha! Don't make me laugh."
"Violet." Tyler began to warn her.
"Let me ask you something Lizzie. You and my dad get married?"
"Yes, Violet we did."
"You were there, my father was there. And I suppose, York was there, for this so called "wedding." Yes?"
"Yes." Lizzie whispered guiltedly. She had to look down because she couldn't look Violet in the eyes.
"There's four of us in this so called "family" and yet only three of you were at the wedding. I can clearly see, that one of us is not welcome in this "FAMILY." "
Lizzie's eyes quickly watered with unshed tears and she was quickly embraced by Tyler.
"Shut up! You insolent girl! I will not stand by and see you disrespect me, Lizzie or York any longer! I married Lizzie and you can't change that. Lizzie and York will be living here. You will accept them and treat them with respect."
"You're right." Violet said as she looked at Tyler.
Tyler's eyes shined with surprise and confusion. He didn't expect Violet to agree with him so easily. However he couldn't read Violet's eyes as it shined with unsaid resentment. The words Raine spoke were words that Violet held dearly inside of her heart and never said to Tyler. They were words that she wished she had enough courage to say.
"I can't change the fact that you married Lizzie and the fact that they will be living here for now on. Whether I accept them into this family, is an option that was taken away from me the moment you decided to marry Lizzie without me knowing or me being present during the wedding. As for respect, that is a word that you don't even know the definition to, so why do you expect me to give it to you, to Lizzie, or to York?"
"Why are you just like your mother and have to make things so difficult?!?"
"Don't ever... bring up my mother, with that filthy mouth of yours." Violet said slowly. Her aura completely changed. Her eyes glared with killing intent and made everyone who looked at her afraid. As soon as her killing intent came, it was quickly gone, as if it never happened. "But I'll give you something better than my mother would ever give you. A wedding gift, you could say."
"W-what is it?" Tyler questioned. The young woman before him was someone he didn't recognize. She was able to change so quickly he was afraid that he never knew her.
"It's what you always wanted."
"What?"
"Freedom."
"What do you mean?"
"You've always wanted a divorce from my mother, however she never gave it to you, no matter how much you beg, argued, or try to reason with her. She loved you so much, she didn't want to let you go. But I can." Raine said.
She knew she could never get along with Tyler as his daughter. But as a business partner or an investor or a consultant, maybe she could get along with him then. Raine would be able to get around Violet's last dying wish, with her methods. By leaving she would also be free to act like herself and live a lazy life.
"What- what are you saying?"
"I've applied for an Emancipation of a Minor. You'll be hearing from my lawyers soon." Raine told him. Even though she hasn't done it yet, she could still get it done by the end of the day. "You'll be free of me, just like you wanted to be free of my mother. You've married your one true love and brought back the perfect family. You can finally live the peaceful, happy family life you've always wanted. Congratulations on your new marriage with your new family and your new found freedom."
"Wait... Violet... you don't have to do this." Lizzie said as she panicked. "This isn't what I wanted."
"But this is what I want." Violet told them. "Even though you didn't intended for this to happen, this is the result of both of your actions. That you both selfishly made without my knowledge and my consent. My exclusion from your wedding is proof enough that I am not wanted nor welcomed."
"Violet." Lizzie whispered tearfully.
"I welcome you to your new home, Lizzie Cobb and York Woods. All of this..." Violet said as she waved her hand from top to bottom. "Is yours now."
Violet turned around and walked back upstairs without looking back. She said what Violet always wanted to say. There was no more resentment stuck inside of her heart. She felt free.
