Chapter 41 : Friends
Nobody's online today.
Actually ever since we left no one has been online.
Mia, Amber and Asher travelled to Sweden for some reunion and Zac's in Tokyo for some negotiation thing with a rival gang or something.
Apart from our shenanigans and relations, I just realized how abnormal these people are.
They don't live normal lives.
Zac leads the Japanese Yakouza, one of the world's most elite underground mafias.
He's pre-occupied with running the business smoothly.
Mia is the eldest child in her family so she's going to be queen soon. So...her and Zac. It's pretty much combining power.
She'll be Madame Mafia automatically plus ruler of...ohh.
I think I've cracked why she does the Alpha and Beta syllabus.
She'll need both skills.
Of course.
Amber isn't first in line but still needs training for her royal duties who knows, one day her sister might die.
But it seems unlikely.
But it doesn't mean I can't hope.
Her sister's a bitch, from her perspective and anyone who dares mess with one of my girlfriends is going to get a pounding-
Asher runs a pretty solid mafia too but discreetly so he'll be busy too.
Ryan's always busy and I'm supposed to be marrying him so we'll both be busy.
He'll be killing people and running the mafia and I'll be with him laughing and eating pancakes.
We won't have time to spend together. What's the point of these friendships if they're self destructive?
A knock disrupts my thoughts and has me nearly falling off my bed.
"Miga, boss wants you downstairs."
Aunty M.
A sweet little woman, she needs to go back home.
Her daughter will be due soon and I don't want her to miss out on that.
"Thank you Aunty M." Wonder what the M stands for.
I get up dusting the crumbs of a cupcake I finished off this silk red night gown I threw on earlier.
I check the knives and gun strapped onto my thigh.
Yup, secure and loaded.
I sigh, I missed this side of life.
5minutes of walking down the stairs, tripping, panting...
I hear laughter as I approach the spacious living room full of men in suits on every sofa.
I do a quick head count, one two three...eight.
Excluding Ryan who's sitting close to me.
The coffee table is stacked with cash, guns and cards.
As soon as I step in the laughter dies down and everyone's looking at me.
"Ah, this is your lovely fiancée?" Someone on the other side of the room says and Ryan agrees staring into my eyes.
I really hate all this attention.
He pats on his leg and as much as I hate it.
I have to.
So I sit on his lap sideways whilst his arm snakes around my waist having a strong hold.
His grip is assuring as he whispers. "Don't worry, I just need to distract them. Just analyze them and tell me who you think is the perpetrator."
I nod and look back at our 'guests'.
They have wild expressions on their faces.
They're unsuspecting and distracted all right.
Most are smoking but only one is drinking whiskey. He keeps taking side glances.
He's nervous maybe? Or maybe he's just like that.
Everyone here is a suspect.
"Does she play poker?" One next to me asks.
Dude you're right next to me. Ask me.
"Yes she does." I answer for him.
Rude.
Why ask the man sitting next to her?
Actually the male with a girl sitting on top of him!
He's taken aback by my statement but grins and asks, "Really?"
He's finally looking me in the eye.
Yup, he looks like the type to steal from Ryan.
His cocky smile covering the guilt behind bewildered eyes.
"Would you like to bet on that?" He says his grin widening.
Bet on what?
My ability to whoop grown ass?
"I love games, I sure do love making grown men cry over them even more."
Somebody whistles lowly and I notice the silence that has filled the room.
Mama's ready to play.
