Sweet But Deadly

This is a sequel to another fanfiction that I have written and completed, if you have not read the first ever book that goes along with this. You will find yourself in a confused spot on how the plot goes.
Again, that is a warning.
_____________

It's only been a few days getting and being informed with as much information as he can. Knowledge about Hades, the king of the dead, who's ruler upon Purgatory.
So far on to what he's got is that Purgatory's time is completely different. Each minute in the human world is equal to one year. So each passing minute is precious.

And then there's the constant darkness of the dead souls and mindless terrifying monsters roaming the cursed land of Purgatory. Just the land alone threatens to kill you every second you're in their precious land, cursing you through their brutal dark land. Until the last breath.

Once or twice Zeldris almost gets soft on Arthur, treating him with much respect than any other human in the realm. He doesn't know why, but it's just started now and he can't seem to stop. He feels controlled by his own thoughts and feelings, it irritates him substantially.

Even now, having a meeting with the king of Lioness, giving his second thoughts. Zeldris could only hear muffled voices between Ban and the king, but otherwise his mind has spaced out and never realized he was staring at Arthur. He noticed that Arthur's elegant purple eyes were staring back at him. Swiftly, Zeldris looked away by slightly tilting his head to face up at the ceiling.

He was so distracted with the small awkward moment between the young human, the king asked him a final opinion, snapping Zeldris out of it.

"What?" His mind was completely erased on what to even think of.

The king coughs with his hand that's balled into a fist covering his mouth. "Oh, let me explain again," The old man starts,
"My soldiers will not be able to help you in what you call, Purgatory, due to it's deadly like stories I currently hear from you. But I will help from the outside, making sure no monster, nor soul, has escaped the Purgatory at all cost."

"What makes you think that the Purgatory creatures can come out of it's rightful place?" Arthur spat in a bit of nervousness. His palm plants firmly at the wooden table.

"He's right," Zeldris crosses his arms leaning to rest his forearms on the marble, oval shaped table made for meetings like this. "Even if the portal to the underworld in for only a couple of minutes, it's possible for many of those creatures to wonder out into your human realm. It's risky but I'll have to close the portal once I get inside."

"Oh, so now you care for the humans?" Ban mocks. His arms cross over one another and looks sternly at the Raven.

"I don't care for a single human." Zeldris argues back, but then looks to Arthur and the humans lip turned into a small frown of disappointment. Zeldris then clears his throat. "This is only for someone valuable to me, and my big brother, nothing else."
Arthur's expression changes into a more hopeful one and Zeldris guessed that when he said "for someone" he thought of something and focused on who might that be.
But how could Arthur ever once think it's him, "someone" could mean anyone, of anything, or any race.

The vibrant orange haired human looks so sure of himself; however, now that Zeldris was a bit more specific on to why he's helping the them save Meliodas. He couldn't help it but think in such a naive way.

Zeldris looks to Ban and his facial expressions showed pain and sorrow. The demon can hardly understand what he's feeling, let alone feel at all by looking at his scrunched up face. It was clear to him that Ban really does love Meliodas.

~

The painfully boring meeting with the king was driving the demon insane, so he took a breather out in the back of the castle; where countless flowers and pure green bushes surround in all corners, and a gravel walkway in a small circle around an ancient oak tree. The outside scents consume the nose of the demon, only smelling the pollen and freshly cut grass.

He took the armor plated gloves off of his sweaty hand, relieved to have fresh air cool his palms. He tosses it on the gravel making the rocks clatter for a moment before settling once morw. He plans to pick them up after his break outside, but for now, he wants to breathe. What's to take in all that's going to eventually happen.

To take in the scent of fertilized soil. The scent of many different varieties of flowers; Roses, Daisies, Marigold, Amaryllis. The feeling of the cool air and it's breeze touching lightly against his olive face, including his abused hands.

His shoulders tense as he takes in a familiar scent.

Zeldris turns his back, seeing Arthur afar distance behind him. The humans face was full of many expressions, and most of them Zeldris could not understand. He didn't what to understand these emotions.

"Beautiful, isn't?" Arthur starts, walking to the side to where the daisies were. He uses his bare hand to pick the brightest daisy there was, superior in size than the rest of the bunch. "My favorite is the daisy, it's delegate, has a vibrant white color fading to a light pink. It's interesting and wonderful. What's yours?"

Zeldris raises his right brow, in a slight confusion is to why the human was asking such a ridiculous question. But instead of ignoring such a thing like he wanted to, he answered blindly. "I prefer the rose."

"Why's that?" Arthur interrupted, sounding a but rushed into the conversation. "Oh! Sorry, continue," he laughs awkwardly.

Zeldris sighs lightly, hearing the sincere apology from the human.
"The rose because, it describes almost every being that ever exist. Sweet and beautiful on the outside." Zeldris starts, walking to a bunch of roses then hovering his hand over the dark green stem. "But deadly, like stabbing someone in the back the moment you have your trust on someone too great." Zeldris grips the roses stem, his eye twitches, and picks it, bringing it up for Arthur to see. A trickle of blood flows down the palm of his hand, due to the thorns that were on the thin green stem. The rich blood color matching with the dark red of the petals.

"You're bleeding!" Arthur practically gasped, quickly yet cautiously taking the rose out of the demons hand; then taking Zeldris's bloody hand into his own palms. Looking at the wound, his clean hands now bloodied with Zeldris's crimson ichor. The demon only flinched in a slight bit of shock.
The way the humans hands interlocks with his one hand makes the demon fluster in confusion once again, as he feels the soft skin yet firm touch to his hand.

Not a day goes by where Zeldris recalls them as once enemies.

~

"Release my people and I promise I will spare your peoples suffering." The human declares, pointing Excalibur dead center towards the Raven demon.

Zeldris mocks his threat, "spare my people? What do you think this war is for!? What was the meaning of this! Look around you!"

Arthur first hesitates, assuming the enemy was trying to distract him, but as he slightly turned his head his mind couldn't think.

The blood that's stained on the damp dirt. The bodies piling one after another. The muffled screaming in the harsh winds and rain from the black thunderclouds that show the anger of the Supreme Deity through each death of her angels. The pure hate in the humans eyes for every demon that is spotted alive and still fighting for its life. The pointless war that is for what? Freedom? Revenge?

"We just wanted a home! Being sealed away for three thousand years by the angels and their God was more than enough to have thousands of my people to lose hope in their acceptance in this world!" The Raven screams out from afar, his voice gaining the eyes of all living beings that fight against each other.

"You ignorant clans always assume were the greatest enemies and worst cursed beings in this whole damn world, all because we are known for our unnatural power!"

Arthur froze in place, he heavily pants from his overused body running day and night for his life from fighting in this pointless war. Then Zeldris points directly to him.

"So tell me, what have us demons ever done to you to deserve this hate!?"

~

Coldly, Zeldris says, "why do you care? I'm just a demon..." The burning mark on the left of his forehead caught the attention of Arthur's eyes. And it only made Arthur squeeze his hand tighter instead of letting it go from fear.

"Because..." The king stops in his tracks, speechless on what to say.
His eyes only gaze down to the bleeding hand then back up to gaze up at the black soulless eyes. The back down to face the plain skin toned gravel that now is stained in drops of blood.

Zeldris only waits for an answer, but feeling Arthur shudder his hands on his bloody one, it makes him speechless.
"Human..." The demon starts, and unexpectedly his fingers intertwine with Arthur's hand.
"Look at me..." Zeldris squeezes the humans hands slightly, earning his attention.

And Arthur gazed up at vibrant, dark green eyes, glowing and shimmering as the sunset makes the demons eyes all the more glow with life. Arthur merely stood taller to have a closer look into the demons eyes, his lips just a mere inch away, from what might be soft. The green eyes take his breath away and he feels like the first person to ever see him like this, so his right, blood stained hand slithered to go around the waist of the demon. He felt Zeldris tense to his touch feeling uncomfortable and awkward to have a human ever touch him in a way, like this.

"...Arthur...." The demon whispers. The human tenses at his name, for sure that this is the first time hearing his name from the demon instead of  "human" or "creature" it makes him feel an electrical shock down his groin. He almost loses it, very close to groaning to feel the warm breath of the demon that now looks up at him. Their height had such a big difference, but Arthur paid no mentions that subject.

Just... A taste...
Arthur starts to lean in and the demon doesn't move, his orange vibrant hair flows to the side, as his head tilts and his lips part.

Their lips hardly touch each other... Only their breaths hitch.

"What's goin on here..." A voice coos.

"Ban!!" Arthur yelps letting go of Zeldris. Shaking his head frantically, only making the fox sin laugh at the king's reaction.

Zeldris snaps out of it, feeling thankful for the immortal to stop in his tracks, "come on, we have stuff to do, tommorow morning is when me and Ban will go over to Purgatory, early in the morning." He points out specifically.

"What! Why can't I come?" Arthur objects, looking to Zeldris again eagerly frantic.

"Purgatory is not a place for you you'd die In an instant..." The demon gets to the point, again thinking how insane he is caring for the being of a human. Not again...
He groans painfully to himself, feeling so foolish at what he just said.

"Well, see ya early in the morning, no slacking tommorow." Ban says a bit seriously, turning his back and waving his hand.

"But then where will Zeldris stay if he's not going to be sheltered in the boar hat?"

"I'm going to have a talk with the underworld..."

Ban only left without a word to say to the two of them.

"Why not my place? I'll make sure you'll be comfortable." Arthur suggested, while grappling the wrist of the demon. Zeldris takes his hand back with a flick of his wrist, making Arthur let him go. And try demon pulls back away from his grip.

"Why are you doing this to me?" The demon protest.

"What?" Arthur says confused.

"Why do you treat me like I'm human? What did I ever do to you to deserve your sympathy?"

"Zeldris..."

"What-" Zeldris's slightly pop open as he was interrupted with Arthur's sudden action.

Arthur's hand was swiftly wrapped around the demons waist, pulling him in a smooth manner. Their faces a mere inch apart as their eyes locked together. Lavender meeting viridis green. Zeldris ends the moment once he pushed Arthur back. He regrets ever pitying humans, they're all the same with their lustful needs.

"What the hell is wrong with you?"
Zeldris stepped back, away from Arthur, who's facial expression looks of loss with their friction.

"You worry too much, about how you're being treated, it doesn't matter to me if you're a demon. You're still someone to me." Arthur states, his smile flawless and innocent for that matter.

"Humans...." Zeldris says in a cold tone.

Arthur only looks to Zeldris with no words to say, just his furrowed brow and look straight at the demon with puppy dog eyes.

Zeldris only shakes his head turning his back to the human, and black magic extends to form a pair of wings upon his back.

"Wait!" Arthur runs forward to hold Zeldris down from taking off.
"Will I ever see you again? I know, we just met but, maybe? If you could just-"

Zeldris looks to the purple eyes that beg him for that one opportunity.
He laughs quietly to himself, "fine, I'll bring you along to Purgatory, but stay near by me at all times. I don't want the kingdom to get pissed more than sparing my people's lives."

Arthur smiles to himself, holding on to his excitement. He wanted to say goodbye but Zeldris was already gone from the spot in the blink of an eye.
He smiles gleefully.

Arthur sighs to himself.
Zeldris... That name repeats in an endless cycle.
