35. Overnight Flight
Rowoon's POV.
I locked the lavatory door and was now facing the mirror. Staring blankly at my reflection and I definitely looked terrible. I quickly washed my face to regain back my rationality.
Hyeyoon was such a temptation for me. Hearing her confession was making me nearly leaned forward to kiss her if I wasn't holding up before. It was also really tough for me to get a grip of myself last night. Watching her sleep while comfortably cuddling on me.
If I did commit a mistake, then don't blame me. How could I resist her? I tried to remember when did the last time I had fulfilled my need? And to realize the fact that I hadn't touched any girl for a quite long time was making me completely a loser.
I was too busy with works and distracted myself a lot from the romance thing. Yet now Hyeyoon caused this huge damage to my defense.
My reflection showed me I was in a total mess. I was thinking of letting her go and gave up last night but turned out, her confession crumbled down the barrier I had built just to protect her from me.
Yes, it wasn't me who need protection, it was her. She wasn't safe being around me. I could lose control anytime, took her in one swift move, calmed her down when she tried to resist, touched her on the right spots, and she won't be able to run away.
I wiped dry my face and looked straight at my reflection once again.
"Come to your sense, Kim Rowoon," I said to myself. I shut my eyes tightly for ten more seconds before opened them slowly, was making sure that I had myself calm down to face her. I clicked open the door and walked slowly back to the seat.
Hyeyoon was seen waiting for me as she watched me back and sat in my seat. She showed concern on her face and carefully checked on me.
"Are you okay?" she carefully asked. "You shouldn't have drunk coffee early in the morning. It's not good for your stomach,"
She thought I was throwing up or something, I assumed. Just right then, the flight attendant served the breakfast and there were a miso soup, rice, and hot green tea.
"Eat some," she ordered my meal and got another one for her. "It's miso soup," she arranged the meal for me and muttered a low thank you to the flight attendant. The lady then bowed and left the two of us alone.
"Enjoy your breakfast," she said and leave.
I stared at the soup and then looked at Hyeyoon, stunned.
"Why?" she asked. "You don't like miso soup?" she was ready to call the flight attendant when I stopped her by holding her hand.
"No, it's fine. I like it," I took a sip on the soup once and felt relaxed as the warm liquid went through my throat. "It tastes good, thanks," I thanked her.
She was watching me eating and didn't touch her meal. I gazed at her and the meal in front of her. "Eat your breakfast, Hyeyoon," I told her and Hyeyoon slowly started to eat the pancake slowly.
I stopped eating and put down the cutlery. Hyeyoon saw it and showed her concerns again, "Why? You're not feeling well? Can you finish the soup? Drink the soup as much as you can, I'll order porridge if you want to,"
"No, Hyeyoon, I'm fine, really," I cut her off and she seemed not convinced at all.
"Are you sure?" she confirmed once again and I nodded.
"I'm good, I can finish this, don't worry," I was kinda enjoying her attention right now actually, so why not play along and let her took care of me for this time.
I saw her now eating her meal again but sometimes turned to check on me. "Hyeyoon," I called out and the girl quietly turned to see me, staring at me with her rounded eyes, "Since when you've been dreaming about me?" I asked her out of curiosity.
Hyeyoon wasn't replying right away, she was trying to recall before answering. "I dreamed about you a few times years ago before I met Kiyong. After I dated him, the dreams stopped. I thought I had moved on by not dreaming of you anymore, until-" she paused.
"Until?" I choked my words and cleared my throat as I didn't expect her to mention Jang Kiyong at this moment.
She seemed to try reading my expression and continued slowly, "until the moment before we met again. I dreamed of you coming to my company but as someone else with a different name. But turned out you did change your name,"
I was shocked. She even dreamed about that?
"So," I gulped the soup nervously, there was an excitement in my tone, I knew it, "what else you see in your dream?"
Hyeyoon looked at me and blinked a few times. She hesitantly went on, "in my dreams, I saw you coming, a few times. I can't remember clearly all the details. But sometimes I saw you come to me and slowly going further away,"
I frowned, "what's that supposed to mean? Slowly going further away?" I finished my meal and now sipping the green tea. I asked for clarification.
Hyeyoon put down her glass as she finished her meal and was now drinking her juice. "I'm not sure, too. But in my dreams, you were there, calling my name. When I saw you and walked closer to you, you were getting farther away and just vanished,"
I smiled hearing her story. She frowned and judged me, "are you having weird dreams, too?" she asked but her tone was slightly irritated.
I shook my head, "no, I never had any dream while sleeping," I told her and Hyeyoon didn't believe it.
"Really? How come?" she was now showing curiosity to my dreaming experience. But I did rarely dream in my life. Or probably I did, I just didn't remember it.
I shrugged, "I have no idea-"
There was light turbulence and the aircraft rocked for a few seconds. The seatbelt light turned on. I frowned and saw Hyeyoon was shocked due to the sudden pressure.
"What happened?" she was in a panic.
"It's fine, just a light turbulence," I assured her and the girl wandered her eyes to check around the cabin. But there was nothing. "It's okay, Hyeyoon," a few light turbulences occurred again and Hyeyoon grabbed my hand tightly.
She worriedly glanced at me and I chuckled to see her expression.
"What's wrong? You haven't experienced turbulence before?" I asked her, slightly bemused at how her rounded eyes were getting rounder as she was terrified.
She shook her head. "Not this severe," she said, and the next second she slapped my hand, "Rowoon buckle your seatbelt!" she scolded and I just realized I hadn't buckled my seatbelt again after returning from the lavatory.
I did as I was told and there was an announcement from the cockpit. Informing that there was slight bad weather as they entered the pacific sea. I checked the monitor and they were already flying halfway to Narita. The pilot informed us we needed to stay in our seats until the seatbelt light was switched off.
"It's fine, Hyeyoon," I calmed her down and patting her hand gently. "We're gonna be fine-" just the moment I hadn't finished my sentence, the severe turbulence occurred. The aircraft dropped a few more feet, and there was a loud shrieking from the back cabin section.
"Oh, my goodness, Rowoon," Hyeyoon hug my arms and now completely clinging onto me as if her life was depending on me. The pressure was indeed tough and intense. While holding to the armrest of my seat, I grabbed Hyeyoon's hand and hold her tightly.
"Are we gonna fall?" her voice was trembling and I looked at her, she was about to cry.
There was another pressure and the plane dropped for a split second, even I was got shocked. Hyeyoon's grip on my arms was getting tighter and she snuggled to my shoulder.
"No, we're not gonna fall," I reassured her and we both froze for the next seconds. The turbulence was still going intensely.
After a few minutes, the turbulence slowly subsided. Hyeyoon looked at me and threw her gaze around. The cabin was in a mess. The plates, bowls, and glasses were scattered on the floor. The stain of her orange juice was splattered everywhere and I found some spots on my shirt.
A few moments later, the plane was finally stabilized and the seatbelt light went off. The flight attendances started monitoring the cabin and checked the situation at our section.
"Please remain calm in your seat, Sir, Ma'am, everyone is fine," the lady told us both and she cleaned all the mess.
Hyeyoon was still holding onto me and I could feel her ragged breath. She still hadn't calmed down, but I knew she was trying to rearrange her breath.
"Hyeyoon?" I called her gently and slowly moved my hand to touch her chin and caressed her cheek carefully. "It's fine, we're fine," I talked to her tenderly, "We're gonna be fine. Do you want to drink something?" I offered her but the girl just shook her head. She was still clinging onto me and I let her be.
Hyeyoon then rested her forehead on my shoulder and breathed in and out slowly. I heard faint sobs and I quickly turned to check on her. "Hyeyoon? Are you okay?" I instinctively moved my hand to touch her head and caressed her soft hair gently. I peeked into her face and she was still shutting her eyes.
I let her quietly composed herself and just gently stroked her hair, was hoping to help her calmed down.
* * *
The long flight continued, after 3 hours layover at Narita International Airport we then transferred the flight to United Airlines and travel from Narita to San Fransisco in 9 hours overnight flight. Thank goodness the flight was smooth and no more turbulence.
Hyeyoon was still slightly traumatized because of the previous turbulence, hence the girl spent mostly sleeping during the flight. She only woke up at dining and breakfast time. The plane was getting closer to our destination and they announced that we would land in a few minutes.
Hyeyoon had just back from the lavatory to clean up and she now looked fresher as she already changed her clothes. She put back her toiletries to her backpack and sat on her seat.
"Do you want to change clothes, too?" she asked me and I considered her suggestion but then just shook my head.
"I'm fine, we'll be landing soon, so, I'll just take a shower once we arrived at San Jose," I told her and the girl just nodded.
Another ten minutes later, we landed safely at San Fransico International Airport exactly at 9.10 AM local time. Hyeyoon stretched her body and ready to unbuckle her seatbelt. We took our belongings and waited for a moment before the door opened.
The morning in San Fransico was so sunny. It was in summer so no wonder it felt a bit dry and hot. Hyeyoon and I were ready with our shades as the sunlight was quite strong.
"Come on," I lightly escorted her to walk to the arrival. Hyeyoon was taking off her jacket and only wearing a white t-shirt with blue jeans and 5 cm high heels. I smiled upon following her from behind and saw her posture. She was both sexy and so pure at the same time. She let her hair fell flawlessly to her shoulder. When the wind blew it, she ran her delicate finger through her hair backward to uncover her eyes.
She stopped and waited for me. The arrival gate was in front of us. I told her to help me check the baggage claim as I tried to find the trolley. When I came to her, she already holding one of our suitcases. I put them on the trolley and she quickly saw another one.
After a few minutes later, we both exit the terminal and walked slowly to the parking lot.
"Who's gonna pick us up?" Hyeyoon asked me and she was looking around.
As we landed at San Fransico International Airport, we needed to travel by car to San Jose for around 30 minutes. I threw my gaze around the crowd but failed to find someone I knew. He should've arrived a while ago, though.
"Hold on," I took out my phone and dialed a number. "Hello?"
A man voice across the line picked up the call. He informed me that he already at the airport and was heading to the arrival gate. I hung up the call and put the phone back inside.
"How was it?" she asked while took off her shade.
"He will be here soon," I informed her and a moment later, a guy approached us and called me.
"Marcelino!" I turned around and saw a white guy with a plain t-shirt.
"Hey, brother," he hugged me then playfully punched me in the chest.
"Took a whole year for you to come back here, huh? I almost sell your condo, man!" he said and I laughed.
"Sorry, my schedule was hectic, and yeah, a lot of stuff," I reasoned and he just chuckled. Just then he realized I wasn't alone.
He eyed me and raised his eyebrows as to playfully teased me, demanding me to give him an explanation. I grinned and introduce her.
"It's Hyeyoon, we both assigned here for a mission," I informed him and turned to Hyeyoon, "Hyeyoon, it's Kent, also a programmer in M.IT company, he works for San Jose Branch,"
Hyeyoon nodded politely and the two of them got acquainted.
Kent turned back to me and gave me the car key. "Here, bro," when I was about to take the key, he smirked and leaned closer just to whisper in a low voice, "don't be so rough on her, get her some sleep before you pounded on her, she looks tired, you'll make her pass out," my eyes widened upon hearing his statement, and I beat him hard in the chest.
"What are you thinking! Dumbass!" I didn't expect he would say those things. I nervously checked on Hyeyoon, hoping she didn't hear anything.
But Kent was laughing so hard at my reaction and Hyeyoon just cluelessly stared at both of us.
I quickly diverted the topic and patted him on his shoulder. "Thanks," I took the key and looked at him, "how about you?" Kent must be going here by car, "I can drive you home or wherever you want," I offered but the guy waved his hands.
"No, it's fine. I'm with her," he pointed a direction with his chin and a girl waved from afar. He smiled widely and was about to go to the girl. "Okay, Marcel, get some rest, I bet you'll get jet lag after this," I nodded as the latter bid his leave. He nodded to Hyeyoon and finally left.
"Thanks, bro, see you at the office tomorrow!" I shouted and he just turned around and showed me his thumb up.
I chuckled.
Hyeyoon watched the scenes quietly and when I turned to her, she was anticipating. I sighed. And pushed the trolley to the edge.
"Hyeyoon, I need you to wait for me here. I'll get the car," I told her and the girl frowned.
"You'll drive?" she doubted.
I raised an eyebrow. "Yes, I'll drive. Wait here, okay?" without waiting for her answer, I walked away to get the car, and came back after a few minutes.
We were now driving at the main road in San Fransisco, going to Santa Clara, San Jose. I wasn't driving in the US for a year, and I needed a few adjustments before taking up speed more. The black Ford Explorer was in a good condition. Kent did take care of the car very well.
"I don't know you've got a US driving license?" Hyeyoon sounded, amazed. I just smirked in return. "Which hotel we will stay at?" she asked again.
I smiled at her and just kept driving. "We won't stay at the hotel," I paused and looked at her puzzled expression, then continued, "we'll stay at my place,"
I entered the highway and slowly speeding up the car, heading to the south.
================================================================================
A/N :
Hope things in this story all make sense.
I'm trying my best to rebuild the plot, I nearly ruined it before.
Anyway, hope everyone is doing well.
Already chapter 35, the end is getting nearer. LOL
Still a few more chapters, I won't rush things, but won't drag it further, too. Hehe...
I have a question. Please, send me your opinion, anything.
Should I really put them in a bed scene? While Hyeyoon still in a relationship with someone else? LOL, I was dragging things because of this. I'm not sure whether to put the intimate scene now or later. LOL
But, anyway, please enjoy this one first~
I will consider any possibilities for them in the next chapter. We will see what is going to happen between them during the trip, how they end their trip in a few more days.
Their trip will end soon, once the San Jose trip is over, they will go straight back to Seoul. *spoiler* lol
Thank you and see you again in the next chapter :)
