22. Seoul Branch (1)

Hyeyoon saw everyone was gathering their stuff and The General Manager of M.IT Company Seoul Branch rose and was about to leave the meeting room. Everyone bowed and he left, followed by his secretary and CEO Park.

Dahyun saw Hyeyoon still compiling the handouts and she came to help. She realized that Hyeyoon became so quiet and Dahyun carefully nudged her senior.

"Eonni," Hyeyoon snapped and looked at Dahyun who showed an apologetic face. She stopped her activity and stared at Dahyun, questioning her intention. But Dahyun quickly shook her head and when she saw Kiyong approached them. The younger girl stepped back and Hyeyoon knew who was coming by seeing Dahyun's reaction.

"Hyeyoon, after discussing with the CEO and the General Manager, we need to start the sampling at the warehouse today," Kiyong told Hyeyoon.

"Only us?" Hyeyoon needed to confirm something. Though she knew the answer already.

"No, Mr. Kim will come with us, he will lead the way, and he will assist us to collect as much information we needed," as Kiyong informed her that, Hyeyoon then looked at Dahyun and the girl didn't say anything.

As for today's schedule was finished, Kiyong then told Gunjoo and Dahyun to return to the office. As he and Hyeyoon proceeded to the warehouse.

Dahyun and Gunjoo then bid their leave, and Kiyong stared at his watch before continued, "Mr. Kim will assist us, but he insists to drive by himself, though,"

Hyeyoon silently gulped upon learning the information. She couldn't utter anything but gave him a weak nod. She looked around and saw Rowoon talked to his secretary across the room.

Hyeyoon couldn't help herself to watch him giving orders to his secretary. She observed him and Hyeyoon could see the grown-up man standing there and effortlessly emitted the look of someone who has authority. Hyeyoon then realized that he had changed.

Rowoon told his secretary to cancel all his schedule today and he won't be back to the office after the warehouse visiting.

The girl nodded and Rowoon dismissed the discussion. Rowoon then looked at the other direction and walked closer to Kiyong and Hyeyoon. His tall figure had always made him stand out more wherever he was. Either by only walking or just standing in the crowd.

Hyeyoon had to admit that this charm of him would always affect her in some ways that she couldn't decipher. She couldn't avoid that.

Rowoon then cleared his throat to gain attention from Kiyong. He stole a glance toward Hyeyoon once and turned back to look at the man beside her.

"Shall we go now?" he offered and Kiyong agreed.

"Sure, please lead the way," Kiyong responded and Rowoon then led the group on their way to the warehouse.

When the three of them were in the basement, Hyeyoon saw Rowoon walked to a direction where his car was parked. The girl couldn't help to frown her brows upon seeing his lifestyle changed after three years. Though Rowoon wasn't a modest type of person, he was never showing off either. Yet again, Hyeyoon was thinking of everyone could change through time.

Hyeyoon then followed Kiyong and quickly got in Kiyong's car. She was about to start discussing the sudden business trip initiated by The General Manager but she was still considering how to inform Kiyong about her situation.

Though Kiyong knew her story, Hyeyoon never mentioned in detail about the person. Meanwhile, Kiyong knew how to set his limit not to dig in too deeply as it might cause Hyeyoon to feel uncomfortable. He understood the situation and Hyeyoon felt grateful for how he was being very considerate toward her.

And that made Hyeyoon felt extremely terrible.

She didn't want to disappoint him. Didn't want to hurt him, either.

"Hyeyoon," Kiyong's voice broke the silence and the look on his face was showing concern.

Hyeyoon snapped and looked at Kiyong. "Huh?" was the only word that escaped from her lips. She was drowning too much in her mind hence she didn't pay attention to what Kiyong was saying.

"What's wrong? Are you okay?" Kiyong asked.

She wasn't okay, obviously. "Yes, I'm good, sorry I have few things in mind," Hyeyoon faked a smile.

They drove splitting the Seoul traffic and Rowoon led them to enter the highway, heading to Gyeonggi-Do. She saw the navy-blue Aston Martin Vanquish was speeding in front of them. He led them and Kiyong was just following him along the way.

The sudden encounter with this Kim Rowoon was shocking her enough to make her nearly lose her sanity. Moreover, the fact that she would intensively be interacting with him from now on because, for some stupid reason, he was assigned as the supervise representative from the client company.

Hyeyoon knew this project was essential for their company because it came from the top priority client. Hyeyoon was responsible to take every task in this project seriously. She had to be professional, she had to set aside her personal affair so that it won't affect their company performance.

"Anyway," Kiyong interrupted Hyeyoon's thought and the girl looked at him questioningly. "Even though both of you graduated from the same university, it seems like you're still awkward around him," Kiyong sounded again.

Hyeyoon nearly choked. But she tried to control her reaction as cool as possible.

She responded, "yeah, I knew him, but we were from the different departments so, yeah. It's been 3 years since I met fellow alumni beside Jeein and Yongdae, I think that's why,"

Hyeyoon was trying hard not to sound trembling. Which she found was difficult as Kiyong might hear she was shaking with her words. Yet Kiyong didn't say anything. He was quiet as he focused on the road and was likely busy with his mind. Hyeyoon felt slightly guilty and she quickly brushed off everything that bothered her.

Though there was still something that weighing her heart, Hyeyoon tried her best to ignore her personal feeling-toward the man-that might be still there. She wasn't sure. But Hyeyoon wasn't planning on fell into his trap and charm anymore as she learned how things ended up if she surrendered to her emotion.

Hyeyoon saw the car in front of them changed the lane and heading toward the highway exit. Kiyong followed him and they were near to their destination.

As the car entered a tall and huge metal gate, the security approached and Rowoon rolled down his window. He talked and the security nodded.

"Let them pass," the security guy informed the other guy inside the operator room and the portal was opened.

They drove slowly into quite a huge area till they reached near a building. It was the largest building in the area as the others were only additional buildings. Rowoon turned to a parking lot right in front of the main building and Kiyong parked beside him.

The tall man stepped out of his car first. Hyeyoon saw it and got out of the car, followed by Kiyong. Kiyong rubbed gently her back and encouraged her to walk closer to the Head of the Program Division of M. IT Company. Rowoon saw the gesture and he was rigidly stood by his car as he saw the two approached.

"Here is the warehouse," Rowoon spoke first to broke the awkwardness and Kiyong nodded.

Rowoon showed the way inside the building and Hyeyoon slowly followed him. The entrance was only a huge metal double door with a single receptionist desk right in front of the entrance. A young woman stood when she saw Rowoon and nodded. She must be informed that the delegation was coming with the Architects.

The next thing was Rowoon greeted by a guy named Jung Taejoon, the supervisor, and the man in his late thirties invited them to his office for briefing of today's sampling. Rowoon then let Kiyong explained their intention for the visit. Meanwhile, Hyeyoon was dazed for most of the time. She couldn't focus her mind as if it was floating aimlessly like there was no gravity to let her mind stay on the ground.

Hyeyoon was trying to regain her focus again when she realized that Rowoon was never cast his gaze away from her. His deep dark eyes were piercing on her which unconsciously made her uncomfortable and nervous.

The girl cursed on how her heart was racing right now as if it was just being reactivated after a long hibernation. She couldn't remember the last time she ever felt this way or when was the last time her heart pounding this hard.

Rowoon ignored the look on Hyeyoon's face then he suggested for them to start the sampling. Jung Taejoon agreed and he led the three of them out of his office and walked further inside the building.

Time to work. Hyeyoon thought and she started pulling out her notebook and pen.

The supervisor explained that this building was the main storeroom where the loading from China was first stored. Before they moved to smaller sections for sorting. As the products came at once, they need to sort them by the type.

"How many workers are there?" Hyeyoon was listening and the sudden question gained the attention of the other gentlemen.

"Currently we have around 33 workers, including me and the administrative officer," the supervisor responded.

Hyeyoon took note of everything in her notebook and she continued her questions, "Are they all locals? Or did you hire foreign workers?"

Rowoon responded her this time, "We also hired foreign workers. Here in Seoul Branch, around 35% of our workers are from China, 55% from South Korea and the rest are from other countries," it was the first time Rowoon responded to Hyeyoon and Hyeyoon need to respond to him back. The two-sided communication that Hyeyoon hardly avoided.

"And, in this warehouse itself? How many foreign workers do you have?" Hyeyoon let out her next question. It was for her questionnaire; she has no other choices.

"We have 5, ma'am," the supervisor helped to answer.

"Okay, thank you," Hyeyoon wrote down the answer.

They continued walking and Kiyong threw another question. "Do you provide them a dorm or residence for their stay?"

The supervisor glanced over to Rowoon and the Head of the Program Division helped him to answer. "No," Rowoon then turned to the Architect and continued, "We only provided them additional wages besides their salary, and the workers are free to choose any place to stay,"

Hyeyoon added the information to her notes that the company didn't provide dorm for the foreign workers.

"Is that the company's basic rule?" Hyeyoon then asked this directly to Rowoon. The guy was amazed by how determined this girl to complete her task and work perfectly. The passion in her eyes never failed to fascinate him.

"Yes," he answered, half daydreaming and he immediately cleared his throat. "Yes, that's our basic rule," Rowoon then added. "You don't have to add a special zone for a dormitory in the new building office design," Rowoon informed.

"Okay, noted," Hyeyoon responded shortly.

Kiyong's phone suddenly vibrated. Hyeyoon who was busy writing then looked at Kiyong beside her.

"Excuse me," Kiyong glanced at the phone screen and the call was from the Incheon Project Manager. Hyeyoon saw it, and Kiyong excused himself to answer the call. The guy stayed a few feet away to answer the call and was seen talking with a serious face. He sighed when he hung the call.

The guy then saw both Rowoon and Hyeyoon as he slid in his phone back to his pocket.

"What is it?" Hyeyoon lowly asked him and Kiyong seemed bothered.

"There's a problem I need to handle at Incheon Project," he paused. Then Kiyong was turned to see Rowoon and the supervisor. "I think I have to excuse myself earlier, would that be okay?" Kiyong stared at both Hyeyoon and Rowoon.

While Rowoon just nodded as it wasn't a problem to him at all. Hyeyoon was seen getting more nervous and didn't expect the sudden notification.

"You'll be okay," Kiyong whispered to the girl and Hyeyoon sighed.

"Alright, you may go," Hyeyoon understand that Incheon Project was one of Kiyong's responsibility. He had to go whenever he was needed in the project.

Kiyong nodded gratefully and he then talked to Rowoon, "I apologize for the sudden occurrence, but Hyeyoon knows what to do, I'll leave the rest to her," Kiyong then reached Hyeyoon's shoulder and the girl turned to face him. "Let me know if there's anything you need," Hyeyoon nodded and he added, "call me when you're done, I'll pick you up-"

"Just in case we're done earlier than you. I'll just drive her home, if you don't mind," Rowoon offered out of the blue.

Both Hyeyoon and Kiyong stunned for a split second but Kiyong processed faster, "If that wasn't a trouble for you, Mr. Kim," Kiyong then saw Hyeyoon was staring blankly, and he added, "If Hyeyoon doesn't mind, either,"

Hyeyoon forced an awkward smile but hid it quickly. She then told Kiyong not to worry about her. "I can go home by subway or anything, don't worry about me,"

Kiyong was ready to retort but then his phone vibrated. It was the sign that he needed to leave right now.

"I'm sorry, I need to go," Kiyong told Hyeyoon which she responded with a low nod.

"See you later," she said. And by that, Kiyong rushed his way outside the warehouse area. Leaving only Rowoon and Hyeyoon now standing side by side awkwardly.

"Sir," the sound of the supervisor calling Rowoon broke the awkwardness. Both Rowoon and Hyeyoon turned to him. "Shall we continue?" he offered and Hyeyoon nodded to Rowoon which asking for her answer.

They were led to another section of the warehouse where the smaller stores were placed. They were unloading the products and separated them into their stores.

"How many smaller stores are there?" Hyeyoon sounded again. And the supervisor answered every question Hyeyoon threw nicely.

While Rowoon just followed them moving around the warehouse and answered a few questions when needed. They were wandering for almost an hour and a half when Rowoon glanced at his wristwatch, it was already 5.30 PM.

He was about to inform Hyeyoon when the supervisor led them to a long dark hallway.

"What's in there?" Hyeyoon couldn't hide her curiousness and ask the supervisor. Rowoon examine the hallway and furrowed in confusion.

"Uh, it's directed to the basement. Storage for a reject and defect product," Jung Taejoon explained.

"Was it supposed to be like this?" there wasn't any sunlight intake and the long hallway with minimum sun rays and fresh air made it look very damp in this season.

Jung Taejoon looked very awkward upon the sudden question and the look on Rowoon's face wasn't helping his nervousness at all, as the Head of the Program Division seemed unsatisfied with the unexpected form of the warehouse.

"It's not, Ma'am, the ventilator turbine in this area isn't working for a few months and we only using LED lightings from this area. But the sensor is in trouble lately, I need to check it later with the maintenance team," the supervisor tried to explain, and though it wasn't her place to give advice yet Hyeyoon told him to immediately inform the Office Branch about the matter, that the warehouse needed building maintenance.

With that Rowoon responded, "I will tell the management office," he said.

Hyeyoon then walked slowly along the hallway. She had the gut that there was another room in there.

Rowoon immediately grasped her shoulder and Hyeyoon's step halted. "Are you sure you're going into that direction?"

Hyeyoon's right brow rose and she stared at the taller man in a questioning look. "Yes, is that something wrong? It's still a part of the warehouse, right?"

Rowoon didn't answer. He was left speechless when Hyeyoon slowly proceeded to the hallway and yes, the lighting sensor wasn't working.

At the end of the hallway, there was a steel stair and Hyeyoon climbed down the stairs and found an automatic door. Luckily the lighting down here was working, as the supervisor turned the light on and click on the side button to open the door.

Hyeyoon stepped inside, followed by Rowoon and the supervisor. The storage was approximately 6 x 6 meters and the ceiling was high. There were two exhaust fans and it was working as the electricity in the room was turned on.

The radio in Jung Taejoon's pocket buzzed and he excused himself to answer. Apparently, there was a loading arrived and he was needed there to check.

"Sir, I need to check the loading upstairs," he informed Rowoon and the latter nodded as he saw Hyeyoon still examining the room with her sketch.

"I think we're done after this. I'll ask her if she still needs to see another room," he said and the supervisor nodded.

"Then I'll take my leave, Sir, please call me if you need anything else,"

By that, he left the two of them and went upstairs.

Hyeyoon was still sketching when Rowoon approached her and peeked on her drawing. "What are you going to do with all those sketches?" Rowoon's sudden presence jolted her slightly.

She looked up to see the tall man stood right beside her. Towering over her with his long body. Hyeyoon could slightly smell the scent of his perfume.

"Uh... for the modeling. I need a real source for design adaptation. Improve the form and place it in the new design," Hyeyoon tried to explain when she realized that there were only the two of them. "Where's the supervisor?" she asked.

"He needs to do something upstairs. Do you need to see another room after this?" Rowoon seriously asked the girl and Hyeyoon glanced at her watch. It was nearly 6.00 PM.

"No, I think it's enough," she said. She was about to make a call to Kiyong when she realized that there was no signal in the basement.

Seeing that, Hyeyoon then walked to the door and hit the open button that was placed right beside the door. But nothing happened.

She tried to push the button once again and got the same result.

"What's wrong?" Rowoon already came behind her and looked confused as he saw her struggling with the door.

"It won't open," Hyeyoon sighed and nearly gave up with the button.

"Let me try," he said shortly and tried to hit the button but still no movement. He began to hit it impatiently.

Hyeyoon grabbed Rowoon's arm who was now hitting it violently. "Stop, Seok-woo. You'll break it instead of making it works," Hyeyoon hissed and glared at him.

Both of them were silent. Rowoon didn't expect that and nor did Hyeyoon. The girl then showed an apologetic face and correct herself, "Sorry, I mean Kim Rowoon,"

She ignored the look Rowoon gave to her right now. It wasn't the right time to feel nostalgic as they were being stuck here, she thought.

"Can it be opened manually?" she looked around tried finding tools or anything. Rowoon shook his head.

"No, it's the only way to open this door. By pushing that button or the other one outside," he said. He then remembered that Jung Taejoon was still there. He pulled out his phone and cursed when seeing he got no signal, too. The guy ran his fingers through his hair in frustration. Tried to figure out a way to let them out of this place.

Hyeyoon tried to ignore the fact that he was still doing that old habit of running his fingers through his hair. Hyeyoon then tried to focus on other things, "Is there any radio or any communication tools in here?"

Hyeyoon didn't want to look nervous or panic but she did. The girl began to rummage the shelves, boxes, and storages. Trying to find anything that could make the button works or at least calling someone outside.

But she got nothing. Hyeyoon sighed. She shot a glare toward Rowoon who was standing there still. Didn't know what to do. "Seriously, Rowoon, your company need to maintain this building, there is a lot of malfunction,"

Rowoon didn't know what to respond, yet he walked closer toward Hyeyoon who was now tried to climb a shelf to get a box placed on the top. By the time he realized that the shelf was unstable, few piles of boxes placed on the other top-shelf were stumbling and collapse.

"Hyeyoon!" Rowoon roared and stormed fast to reach Hyeyoon and grabbed the girl before the boxes could hit her head.

He pulled the girl hard and her body hit his chest just in time when the first box reached the bottom. He turned around to let her secure and shielded her tiny body by his huge one. Letting the boxes collapse on his back hard.

Rowoon groaned as he lost his balance and stumbled forward. The tiny girl won't be able to hold his weight and both of them collapse with Hyeyoon was below him. Rowoon quickly held her head before it could hit the cold marble and he fell on the top of her.

The boxes stopped falling and Rowoon groaned in pain. All his body aches and he could feel the top of his head was slightly hurt. Hyeyoon's eyes widened upon seeing a drop of blood ran down his forehead.

"You're bleeding!" her voice panicked.
