Chapter Thirty-nine: the new enemy crew
Joseph called Suzie Q. to settle her fears. Jotaro also spoke to Suzie. (Y/n) was with Polnareff and the others, buying a cart to travel the desert with. She was sitting in the back of the cart with Kakyoin as Polnareff drove. The red haired teen was smiling at the child that was hugging his torso, his friend he met when he was small and played with. He treasured their friendship. The red haired male let her climb onto his shoulder as he called over to Jotaro and Joseph, "Hey, we got the cart! Are you ready to go?" "Let's get this circus to Cairo already.," Polnareff said and patted the wheel.
Jotaro and Joseph got to the cart and everyone was off again, into Egypt's vast desert as they made their way to Cairo. (Y/n) was clinging to Kakyoin's chest and listening to his heartbeat, a habit she had picked up from being carried so much. She liked to listen to heartbeats. "We're so close to where DIO is.," Polnareff spoke, "I'm excited and a little shaken." "I feel the same way, but we have to press forward.," Avdol responded. "We've been through so much together. We've been through so many countries, ate many different types of food, met different people, seen many sights..," Kakyoin added.
"Fought a lot of stand users together.," the little girl chirped, "And I ate a few." "At least you aren't hunting humans.," Joseph said with a sigh and looked to the sky, "we're going to need to stop up ahead." "Stop? What for, if I may ask?," Polnareff inquired. The old man kept looking to the sky, "You'll see." The silver haired Frenchman kept driving over the dunes. It had been thirty days since they left Japan, they had gotten so far in that time. All of them felt close, like a family almost. It made (y/n) happy to have something like that. Kakyoin patted the girl's head as they rode over the sands and to a ruined temple like structure that was being looked over by another ruined structure. There were lots of columns.
Joseph made the motion to Polnareff to stop there, "This should be good, there is plenty of space here." Everyone got out and the old English man kept his green eyes to the skies. "What are we waiting here for?", Jotaro asked as a sound caught their attention. "They are here.," Joseph said as a helicopter came from over the horizon. A helicopter! A Speedwagon foundation helicopter! What was inside? Food? Supplies? New clothes? The plum haired pillar child watched as the copter circled, searching for a place to land.
The helicopter set down. "It's taken a while but we finally got our new ally here, I must warn you though, he has a bit of an attitude problem.," Joseph spoke. Avdol seemed to know exactly who Joseph was talking about, "Mister Joestar! His presence on the team will only be a hindrance!" (Y/n) felt a stand user in the helicopter, and another small energy from father away, she looked up to the ridge above them. It seemed to be a human up there. She heard Jotaro speak, "Wait, ally? You mean this guy is a stand user?" "Yes he is, and his stand is that of the Fool.," Joseph answered. "The fool?," Polnareff laughed, "Sounds stupid." "Be glad he's on out side, you won't be able to defeat him.," Avdol said and got into a small scuffle with Polnareff.
Once the copter had landed, the pilot's door was opened revealing two men as Kakyoin scolded the two. Both were foundation pilots. They gave a greeting nod to the group and got out of the copter. "Mister Joestar, we're glad to see all of you are okay. We have the supplies you requested and are ready to take miss (y/n) back home.," one of the pilots said. "What?!," the girl hissed, "You're sending me home?!" Her small hands gripped onto Kakyoin's leg. "Are you serious?! She is our stand radar!," Polnareff said. Joseph put up his hand stump, "I am. DIO wants something she has, if she follows us to Cairo, she's falling right into his hands."
"We'll take you back to Washington, you can go talk to Santana in storage again.," one of the pilots said. (Y/n) had her cheeks puffed up in a pout as the other pilot was unloading equipment. Jotaro stepped up and looked at the pilots, "Which of you is the stand user?" "Neither of us are.," the pilot who was speaking to (y/n) replied, "He's in the back, it was a bumpy ride so he's kind of cranky." Kakyoin knelt down before the little girl, "This is goodbye until we see each other again."
(Y/n)'s red eyes looked down in sadness, "I don't want to leave you guys, Kakyoin. What if you don't come back? Like Esidisi or Jonathan?" Kakyoin's violet eyes widened a bit before he hugged the small but ancient child, "We'll come home. We can play again, like we used to." The plum haired girl hugged him back as he made a small laugh, "I was alone for a long time, but you were my first friend. Then I met Jotaro and the others... Thank you. Thank you for being my friend, (y/n)."
'I'll be alone if anything happens to you.,' (y/n) thought as she let go of the red haired Japanese teen. They looked over at Polnareff looking into the helicopter and looking for their new ally. What came out of the helicopter was a small and angry Boston Terrier, the terrier attacked Polnareff and started ripping out his silvery hair. Joseph explained that the dog was named Iggy and that he liked to rip out human hair. The little dog was ferocious. Avdol asked one of the pilots if he had something for the dog. The pilot gave Avdol a pack of coffee flavored chewing gum. Iggy instantly ran at Avdol and grabbed the box from his hands. This gave everyone time to get the supplies and for Joseph to attach a new prosthetic hand on his wrist.
The pilots gave him a camera to use spirit photography with. Joseph called everyone over and had a pilot take a picture of all of them together. (Y/n) was sitting on Joseph's back in the picture. Once everything was packed up, Kakyoin used Hierophant green to put the girl in the helicopter. They quickly shut the door so she would not hop out. The pilots got in and the helicopter lifted off.
"Don't worry, lady (y/n). This will be a safe and comfortable ride back to headquarters.," one of the pilots said, "Just rest." The other piped up, "You're looking pale, have you eaten recently?" "I am okay. Just finishing up the last of what I ate before.," the girl said and waved her hand, "Although, having something good to eat and a nice glass of milk sounds good." The first pilot chuckled, "I'm sure that is exactly what you will get when you get back."
(Y/n) looked out the window to the Sandy landscape below. It was a little hypnotic to watch the dunes pass by. She was a little tired. "Have you heard that there are nine new stand users that DIO has hired?," the second pilot asked, "Quite scary stuff. Our informants were all killed after gaining that info, one seemed to be tortured for information." "I can only imagine what information Dio would want.," (y/n) spoke as she looked at the dunes below.
"I think one of the things he was asking about was you from what the informant had in his notebook before he was killed.," the pilot spoke, "I wanted to ask, What kind of relationship did you have with DIO?" "He was my brother, along with Jonathan.," the small pillar spoke, "He seemed to like my company when we talked together or read in the library. He sometimes would read to me until I fell asleep when my sleep cycle came around." "He sounds like he was different then than he was now.," The pilot spoke. "He was.," the little girl spoke, "He was very different before he wore the mask, that mask thar my family made."
The helicopter shook as something hit it from below. "Dammit!," one of the pilots swore, "We're being attacked! Brace yourselves!" The red eyed child saw what looked like a clawed hand that was made of water press up against the glass. The hand crawled up the side of the helicopter and attacked the spinning blades and engines. The pilots struggled to keep the helicopter in the air. (Y/n) buckled herself in to protect herself from the crash.
The helicopter was going down. The hand was still clawing at the window, trying to get in. The young pillar sensed a stand. The hand was a stand that she could see! It felt to be a long ranged stand. The little girl's eyes widened as the hand clawed through the door and sliced the seat belt she was wearing. It grabbed her and threw her out. The impact of her hitting the ground knocked her out. She had broken bones and bruises all over her body. Faintly as she was fading into unconsciousness, she heard the crash and the screams of the terrified pilots being attacked.

The cart flew over the dunes as the men and the dog rode through the desert. Joseph was driving as the others were resting in the back and Polnareff was complaining about Iggy taking up the whole backseat. "You can have the backseat once he's done. Just throw some gum for him to chase.," Joseph said back to the silver haired Frenchman. Polnareff grumbled a bit. Kakyoin spoke up, "Mr. Joestar, we know that DIO is after (y/n) for some reason, what is to stop him from sending a stand user to collect her while she is going back to the foundation headquarters?"
"I already thought of that, Kakyoin.," Joseph spoke, "She is able to sense the stands and can tell the pilots when they appear, but she herself cannot see or fight stands. She is forced to find the user and subdue them. You've seen how easy it is for her to end human and animal lives because of her heritage." "The pilot mentioned a 'Santana' for her to visit. Is this Santana a friend of yours?," the red haired teen asked. "Santana is the only living pillar man left. While (y/n) is a hybrid of human and pillar man, he is a full pillar man.," Joseph explained, "He's in a deep sleep in storage. As long as nobody disturbs him or feeds him blood, he will stay asleep. The damage he can do once he wakes is tremendous, I have seen his power firsthand."
"Hold on, if Santana and (y/n) know each other, shouldn't she be able to talk him down?," Polnareff asked. He did not get his answer as Joseph slammed on the brakes. Before them lay the wrecked Helicopter. Everyone's heart sank. Polnareff and Kakyoin jumped out to see if the tiny pillar was okay. They did not find her. Instead, they found the pilots. The girl was nowhere to be found. It was evident that a stand attacked the helicopter. "Dammit! I was careless!," Joseph swore and punched the side of the helicopter with his fist. Jotaro examined the pilot that was crushed by the helicopter, the man's face was twisted in fear from when he died, his fingers bloody from scratching the side of the helicopter.
The dark haired teen examined the body closet and found his mouth and lungs full of water. He drowned in the desert! Polnareff found the other pilot alive. Joseph offered the man water to hydrate him. The water attacked and pulled the pilot's head into the canteen. There was a stand user who was sent to kill them and (y/n) was nowhere to be found.
