Chapter Sixty-two: a fight for Identity

Red eyes opened to a room before her. She had been dreaming of her two older brothers, where were they? Where was the man who adopted her? The sound of a dog barking got her attention, a small but old dog was beside her on the bed. His tongue was lolling out as his small tail wagged, 'Iggy' was on the collar he wore. "Iggy. You're a cute puppy.," the little girl said softly, "Where am I? Where is Jonathan and Dio?" The dog jumped up and started growling at the mention of Dio's name. The sweet face changed into one of great ferocity. The little girl tilted her head and puzzled over the sudden change in the dog. Her eyes looked around the room, did she somehow go to sleep and sleep for a long time period? If so, where was Jonathan and Dio? Did they die? Was she passed down their family line?
The little girl got up and walked out of the room she was in. Iggy followed her with a bark, the clicking of his claws and the tapping of his metal paw alerted a member of the house. It was a young man who came out of a room, his eyes were a blue-violet color. They had the same kindness in them as Jonathan's. His blood smelled like Jonathan's. His dark hair was put up in a odd style and he was wearing unusual clothing. The boy knelt down and spoke a language the girl did not understand.

(Y/n) tilted her head as the boy spoke. Her head hurt a bit so she rubbed her horns and eyes to wake herself up. The language finally clicked and she understood him. "Are you okay? You were wandering around aimlessly last night.," the boy inquired. "Who are you?," the little girl asked, "I am (y/n) Joestar. Is Jonathan or Dio somewhere?" The boy's face fell, "You Don't recognize me? I'm Josuke, your stepbrother." (Y/n) had a puzzled look on her small marble statue like face. Josuke seemed to be running through his mind, "I'm Jonathan's great grandson. Johnathan has been dead for many years."
He soon found this to be a mistake as tears welled up in the red eyes of the little girl before him. Iggy growled at him, almost scolding him for being stupid. Josuke scooped her up to hug her, hoping to calm her. He noticed that she was much lighter than before. She had to have been under the effect of a stand, his blue-violet eyes hardened. "Hey, how would you like to stay with me today?," Josuke asked, "I know I may not be Johnathan, but I could at least listen to some of what you like about my great grandfather and his brother." He patted her back and waited for her to calm down, he got a small and tear filled nod.

The teen held her close as he picked up a bag and put his shoes on. The small child nuzzled against his chest, her horns rubbed lightly against his shoulder. The scent of his Joestar blood must have been a little calming to her. He left his home with the child in his arms and Iggy following with a doggy grin on his face. (Y/n) held onto this new friend and looked at the bright and sunny day that surrounded them, this was not England. This was somewhere completely new! Had the Joestar bloodline spread so far as to reach a new place? The little girl climbed onto the boy's shoulders and reached up to the warm sun, the rays washed over her skin and warmed her small body.
"Oi! Josuke! (Y/n)!," Came a raspy voice. The small girl saw another teen walking towards her and her new family member. The little girl tilted her head and gave him a puzzled expression, how did he know her? "Oh, Okuyasu. Good morning. I think (y/n) is under the effect of a stand, she can't remember anything other than about her childhood with Johnathan and Dio.," Josuke spoke to the newcomer, "Santana gave her to me last night." The one named Okuyasu came closer and looked down at the dog that was now barking at him, he looked back up to Josuke and (y/n).

"Oh, really? Where is the bastard? We'll give him a good ass-kicking!," Okuyasu said with a mean-spirited grin on his face. (Y/n) gripped Josuke's head and whined, she dropped off of his shoulders to his back to hide from this violent teen boy. "I think you just scared her, Okuyasu.," Josuke spoke, "I think most of her memories have been taken, She did not even recognize Santana." The small plum haired girl did not understand any of what these boys were talking about, stands, Santana, lost memories, these did not make any sense. She dropped off of Josuke and covered her skin from the sun. Jonathan would have told her to be careful in the sun. She was sad that her brothers were no longer there, she loved them and would miss them.
From the back of her mind, there was something calling her. Her jewelry felt heavy on her tiny body, but she made herself walk. Towards what was calling her. Another person was walking the same way, against the flow of the other human children. His eyes held a dazed expression. The child followed him and shis shining silver hair. She followed him to a house.

The door was open, beckoning her and the boy in. She did not understand why, but she knew that house belonged to a man named Rohan Kishibe. The little girl watched the boy go in and tried to follow, she was picked up by Josuke. "Now what is going on? We followed you because you were walking away like a zombie, now you were following Koichi into that house?," Josuke inquired. Okuyasu was more interested in who owned the house. The little girl was reaching towards the house, "I want to go in. I have to go." The Joestar descendant held the little girl, keeping her from going into the house. "Something is wrong.," Josuke spoke as the door flung open and the silver haired teen from before came out.
(Y/n) smelled blood on him and saw his hand was cut, he did not seem to notice. The teen looked confused as to why he was out of the house before he greeted the three in front of him, the silver haired teen explained that he was visiting the famous Manga artist that lived there. "Oh! You know someone famous? Good for you.," Okuyasu said. "So, you'll be okay?," Josuke asked. "Yeah, I'm great, do you want to come in and meet him?," this small person inquired.

"No thanks, I get nervous around famous people.," Josuke spoke, "we also have to get to school." "I'll see you at school later.," the silver haired teen replied. The small plum haired girl reached towards the house. Josuke held her against his chest and began to walk away as the boy went back in the house. Okuyasu and Iggy followed Josuke. The dog's blue eyes looked back at the house and he growled up at the window he was looking at. A place in the blinds had been opened to let a pair of eyes look down at the ones walking away. The red eyes of the small girl looked up to the window.
The silver haired teen came out of the house again and waved at his leaving friends. Josuke and Okuyasu stopped, something was wrong. Iggy was still growling at the window as sand swirled around him. "Iggy. Stay out here. We're going to investigate. Koichi's hand was cut.," Josuke spoke with a hardened look on his face, "Okuyasu, see if you can get in somewhere else. I'll go in the front door, we'll trap him in." The dog gave a huff as Okuyasu climbed up the side of the house. Josuke put the little girl on his back, "Mom will be mad that I'm skipping school again, but it is to make sure Koichi is okay." The teen opened the door and stepped in.

Something snapped in the little girl's brain, she no longer was in a stupor. She was energetic now, as if crossing the threshold turned her energy back on. Her small hands gripped Josuke, "Be careful, Josuke. It's dangerous. Heaven's Door is a stand that Rohan possesses. It can open you like a book so Rohan can read about your life and everyone you know. I think he has been controlling Koichi and I like that, he must have also tampered with my memories. I know I am supposed to remember something." "Got it.," Josuke muttered as he walked up the stairs to the door to Rohan's studio. Okuyasu was already inside. His body had been unfolded like a book and a scroll all at once. Josuke stayed outside of the studio, already seeing the effects of the stand. Rohan was also aware of his and (y/n)'s presence there. "Koichi. Tell me, why are Josuke and (y/n) not coming out?," Rohan asked. "So they won't see your manga.," the small silver haired teen replied.
"Very smart. That is correct.," Rohan spoke, "(y/n) most likely told him what my stand can do. Plus you have that dog outside. A very powerful stand user if he gets mad, but from reading about him, he's just a lazy mutt." Josuke felt the little girl grip his shoulder tighter. Even though she did not remember Iggy that much, she still was angry that he was insulted. "I have to believe that (y/n) told him about my power, therefore telling him who I am.," the mangaka spoke in his smooth yet calm voice, "I am at a disadvantage. But since he has not come out, he is probably thinking about running."

"Josuke would never do that!," Koichi exclaimed to defend his friend. "I know. It is written in the file on your pages that Josuke's personality would never allow him to abandon you two." The pompadour sporting teen looked to the little girl on his shoulder, she gave him a concern look back. "Because of my job, I have to think of every conceivable course of action. Therefore, I already have a way to keep him and dear little (y/n) from running.," the manga artist explained. "Running actually sounds good, Josuke! Get (y/n) to run or get Iggy to get Jotaro or Yukako!," Okuyasu yelled to the ones who were hiding. Rohan clicked his tongue and roughly grabbed Okuyasu's hand.
In one quick movement, he wrote on the duller teen's arm, the words he wrote were insurance to make sure that nothing of what these children had planned would come to fruition. 'If any trouble is made for Rohan, I will commit suicide by self-immolation.' As soon as Koichi read that out after Rohan instructed him to, everyone's hearts sank. Josuke and (y/n) were both horrified by this. "What happened to your humanity, Rohan?," the voice of the child called to him, "You're like a monster from the stories my brother read to me! You're acting evil!"

Okuyasu laughed at the concept that he would never burn himself to death. His laughter was soon cut off by his left hand reaching into his pocket to pull out his lighter, the lighter was lit and placed under his right hand. The teen started screaming in pain as the flames licked and enveloped his hand like the tongues of vicious serpents. Josuke was enraged by the lack of respect for human life and closed his eyes tight to walk into the studio. (Y/n) clung to his back and held her eyes to his face. He was basically forced out of hiding by the pure villainy of the manga artist. Rohan laughed mockingly at the teen who came in to face him, "Childish but effective. Let's see how long you can keep that up. If you do manage to defeat me in a single blow, The effects of Heaven's Door will disappear."
Josuke charged forward blindly with the young pillar on his shoulders. "He's right in front of you, Josuke!," the girl encouraged, "Keep going." Rohan scowled, his face contorted into a more hideous visage, "I just need to open his eyes." The green haired mangaka picked up some spare pen nibs and threw them at the charging teen like projectile weapons. The metal pen nibs were mostly blocked by (y/n). Her small arms were covered in the sharp objects, blood dripped from the wounds. The ones that hit Josuke did not make him open his eyes. The teen kept running forward. Rohan threw more nibs that were deflected by a sudden flash of silver, a flash that came from (y/n) herself.

Rohan thought quickly and read a file from the face shaped papers that hung before his desk. "I got it! I'm going to make fun of him! That hairstyle is so outdated, it is from twenty or thirty years ago!," Rohan mocked in a desperate attempt to save himself, "How the hell do you think that is cool?" He was unaware of the rage he was about to unleash on himself.  (Y/n) felt Josuke freeze, she took that time to hop off of him and look at the mangaka's desk. There were paper sheets that looked to be the same shape as Koichi's on it. A neat pile on the edge of the desk was made of smaller papers. They were the same size as (y/n)'s face! She looked at the information on the papers and saw images of very buff and barely clothed men. She read the info quickly and realized that these memories were what she had forgotten!
This bastard had stolen almost her whole life! Only leaving her enough pages to barely survive with. She was so close to death because of him! Had he pulled a few more pages, she would have died! Her tiny sharp teeth were bared, an unholy rage consumed her, "Kick his ass, Josuke!" Josuke did not need to be told twice, he was already pissed about the mockery of his precious hairstyle. "What the hell did you say about my hair, you damned bastard?!," The teen exclaimed in utter rage, "I dare you to say that again!"

The green haired mangaka looked smug, yet he had no idea of the immediate danger he was in. "So your eyes are opened now? You heard me, your hairstyle is old fashioned and in bad taste. A dirty little bird might make a nest in that mess.," the man spoke and pulled a page of his manga to show Josuke. Crazy Diamond was already punching up a storm as he did. Rohan's face was hit with a direct punch. He then was pummeled with a barrage of fists that flew at his face at breakneck speeds. The impacts sent Rohan flying, he hit the bookcase and it toppled over onto the green eyed man, trapping him underneath it.
Josuke's attack was enough to break Heaven's Door and its effects in the victims of it. The stolen papers flew back into the faces of the ones they were stolen from. The tiny pillar's memories were restored. She now knew, she had to apologize to Santana. She made him upset. She would after Josuke was done beating Rohan's ass. The said teen was going absolutely batshit and tearing the Mangaka's studio apart trying to find the man who haired to insult his precious hair. He was kicking and breaking everything. "WHERE THE HELL DID YOU FLY OFF TO?!," He was shrieking in his rage, "COME BACK OUT HERE DAMMIT!"

And so, Rohan was forced to take a hiatus thanks to the extensive injuries he had sustained. Josuke and the others were able to return to their normal lives. (Y/n) had to go and apologize to Santana, the vermillion haired man understood after an explanation. He was ready to kill Rohan himself, but held off after (y/n) asked him to. Santana was glad that she was back to normal. He hated the feeling of being rejected by her. But it was okay now. They had each other.
