Chapter sixty-seven: bruises
Josuke was extremely sore when he woke up the next morning. He did not have it at all. He was completely unprepared for Santana's savagery. The Japanese teen felt a small weigh in his chest and saw (y/n) was laying on him. She did not go back with Santana, she instead prompted to stay with Josuke to take care of him. He laid back down. He remembered that Santana had to carry him back, his mother freaked out after seeing him like that. Santana had to explain the best that he could that this was how he was trianed. Tomoko was mad before Josuke told her that it was his idea.
He lay there in his bed, bruised and battered. His little stepsister had her small little cheek squished against his chest. His blanket was kicked off of him. Josuke sighed and slowly rose. Pain enveloped him as he did. (Y/n) was stirred from her rest as her stepbrother got up. "Josuke.," the little girl's voice caught his ears, "Are you okay? Santana was kind of rough on you." The British-Japanese teen winced as he touched a sore spot on his body.
"I'll be fine.," the teen replied and got up as his sister climbed up to his shoulder to play with his hair that was down. "Your hair looks a lot like your father's, especially when he was your age.," the child chirped as Josuke tried to shoo her away to give him a chance to style it. Her face told him it was a compliment, so he did not get mad. She did not go away, she was braiding his hair. (Y/n) hugged his head as he was brushing his teeth. Tomoko came to check on her son, she saw the two children together. The woman saw the bruises on her son. "Josuke, are you feeling okay?," the woman asked. "Sore, but otherwise okay. Santana is a tough guy. I should have known better than to ask him to teach me some defense moves.," Josuke answered with a pained smile while he tried to stop his stepsister from putting bows in his long hair.
(Y/n) held onto his head tighter and pulled at his cheeks as he tried to get her off. Tomoko could not contain her snickers as she watched the two siblings squabble. Iggy watched the two as well. His doggy grin smiled up at the two. Josuke waited until his mother was gone before he got Crazy Diamond to take his sister off of his shoulders.
His hair had clips and bows in it. The small pillar child laughed at her work. She grinned at him as he picked the clips and bows from his hair. (Y/n) was shooed out of the bathroom and she went to see Tomoko and Iggy. Tomoko was making something for her son to eat, "Do you want something to eat?" The plum haired pillar child looked up at the woman, "No. I can get something later." "You don't eat much. You always decide offers of food.," Tomoko said, "Why is that?" (Y/n) did not answer and put some food out for Iggy, the small Boston terrier ate his food hungrily.
The small child watched the dog eat. Tomoko saw the dress she was wearing. A dress that looked to be ancient in style, "Where did you get that dress?" "This dress was one that my dad had made for me. It is more traditional in our kingdom's style.," the little girl said with a smile, "It was made to look like my mother's." She spun around and the streamers that flowed from her circlet followed. Tomoko chuckled at the cute little child, "It looks a little expensive." "It would be if it was appraised.," the little girl replied and watched the dog finish his meal, "I'm going now. Bye."
Tomoko could not say goodbye to the little girl as she left the house. She ran through the streets as Iggy followed her, she was just happy to be alive. She passed the ghosts that were at the corner store and continued to the hotel. She saw Caesar and Joseph walking together as she ran up. "Caesar, Jojo!," the little girl called out. The two turned and saw the daughter if their old enemy run up. She gripped Caesar's legs in a tight hug. She stuck her tongue out at her adopted father. Joseph sighed and rocked the baby he held in his arms. (Y/n) climbed up onto Caesar and sat on his shoulders. "Santana came back early this morning. He said something about training Josuke?," Caesar asked the small pillar.
(Y/n) pinched his cheeks and pulled it, "Josuke is battered and bruised. He said he could take Santana. He could not." The little girl grinned and played with the feathers that decorated his hair.
Caesar smiled and shook his head. "So, how are you doing this fine morning?," the Italian gentleman asked. "Good. Although... Father's mind has faded, I can't feel him anymore. I wish... I wish there was some way to make contact and bring him back.," the little girl said, "Not really back here to earth to rule, but, back here so he won't be lonely. Like another ghost. He could reunite with mom. See everyone again."
The two old men listened to the little girl talk. The sadness that took over her voice was followed by tear drops in Caesar's hair. "I miss daddy.," the little girl spoke sorrowfully, "I just... I want to see him again." The blonde Italian took the small girl off of his shoulders and held her, "Principessa, I know you love and miss your father. But he can never return to earth." The little girl's eyes filled with tears, she already accepted that she would never see her father again. Yet, it still hurt. The Italian man walked and let the little girl cry into his shoulder. He walked a little further away from Joseph as to not startle the infant the old man was carrying.
He patted her back as she cried into the jacket he wore. His hand was on her soft plum colored hair. He did not really know what to say. Joseph already told him about some of the pillars having quirks that made them cry to relieve stress, if that was true, then the little girl pillar he was holding had been building a lot of stress up over a long period of time. "Go ahead and cry.," Caesar said as he patted her back, "You can let it all out. It's okay." His voice was soft and soothing. It was not angry or forceful, like the times over sixty years ago when he fought against her family. He was being gentle. Just as one would be to a child.
Caesar patted her head as she sniffled, all out of tears. "There you go, do you feel a little better now?," He asked and got a small nod from the child. Her small arms were around his neck. Her small warm and silvery horns rubbed against his cheek. The Italian hamon user knew that her father would be pissed if he saw this, thankfully he was not on earth anymore. He placed her back on his shoulder when she was ready. He waited for Joseph to catch up and walked into town together. The infant in Joseph's arms cooed as she looked around. She had makeup and sunglasses on to make her more visible. She had a stand even though she was just an infant. (Y/n) held onto Caesar's head as she rode on his shoulders. It was another beautiful day in Morioh.
The tiny pillar rode on Caesar before he and Joseph stopped at a cafe to stop and have some coffee. The child was set down on the ground and looked around. They were near the ghosts! She could see the convenience store and Esidisi on top of it, watching everything around him. (Y/n) tugged on Caesar's trousers to get his attention as he read the menu. The blond Italian looked down at her, "Hm? What is it?" "Esidisi and Wamuu are watching us.," the little girl replied. Caesar chuckled and looked up as Josuke walked up. The British-Japanese teen looked to be very sore.
(Y/n) climbed up onto him as soon as he sat down. He winced as she touched some of his bruises. The girl smiled up at her stepbrother. "How are you feeling, Josuke?," Caesar asked the teen. "I'm sore all over. Santana is very strong.," Josuke answered, "He's definitely a different fight than stand users." The little pillar girl clung to Josuke and listened to the others talk while she made faces to make Shizuka, the baby, laugh. The baby laughed a few times in joy. It was like she was playing with baby Holly again. Shizuka waved the toy she was holding around, it rattled as she shook it.
The small pillar dozed on her stepbrother as the warm sun shone overhead. She felt twirling and swirling, cold to contrast the warmth of the sun. Her father had a small spark left. This spark was fading. Soon she would no longer see or feel him. What a cruel fate he had while she was comfortable on earth. She wanted to at least bring his mind back home. If his body could be severed from his mind, it would be able to return to earth and she would no longer be without her father. The small pillar child whined as the sun began to burn her skin and glowing lesions opened on her skin. Josuke saw this and healed her wounds before pulling her cloak over her. "You should probably go somewhere to get out of the sun.," Josuke told the small child and got a small nod from the pillar girl.
She looked around and saw other people they knew. Koichi was with his sister. Jotaro and Kakyoin were walking around as well. Hazamada was at the bookstore. If she looked a little more, then she might see others. (Y/n) hopped off of Josuke after giving him a little hug. She gave Caesar and Joseph hugs before running off into the business district with Iggy. The dog followed her while making some huffing sounds. The plum haired pillar looked to the sky to estimate the time of day. It was around lunch. She bought some food at a small artisan bakery shop and walked to the park to eat her sandwich under the shade of a tree.
Iggy ran off before he came back with someone's lunch in his little doggy jaws. His face was really smug. "Where did you get that, Iggy?," the little girl asked the elderly dog as he wagged his little tail at her. The girl shrugged and unwrapped her sandwich when a blond man came running up, yelling about a dog stealing his lunch. A blonde man in an expensive looking custom suit. He saw the dog and the little girl next to each other. "Is that your dog?," He asked. (Y/n) looked at Iggy then back at the man, "That's Iggy. Did he take your sandwich? You can have mine. I don't really need it." She held her sandwich up to the man to offer it to him. "It's from that expensive place.," she said, "They make good food."
The blond man took the sandwich she was offering him. He saw her red eyes and horns, he seemed a little wary of her after seeing that. The little girl ignored him and started drinking the milk that she bought. She looked to the man again, "I saw you before." "We saw each other once before, yes.," the man spoke and got up. He checked his watch before walking away. He seemed to be on a tight schedule. The small girl shrugged and drank the milk again. Iggy had a big doggy grin on his face after he finished the sandwich.
(Y/n) watched the man walk away. There was the scent of death clinging to him. A cat like figure shimmered into view for a split second before disappearing again. Perhaps.... she should keep an eye out for that guy in the future.
