Chapter Sixty: Santana

The grand Morioh Hotel. A comfortable hotel with a high class feel. Santana looked a little uncomfortable as he rode in the car on the way to the hotel. This was new to him. He had been studying human cultures and technology, but actually seeing it all at once was a little overwhelming. He felt the small hand of his master's daughter squeeze one of his big fingers. (Y/n) was looking up to him from her place beside him. The vermillion haired man held the child's tiny hand. He knew that he was okay as long as he had her to help guide him. She had been living with humans for over one hundred years. She knew how to interact with them.
Santana felt very tired from not resting for all this time he had been waiting and training himself. He just wanted to rest now that he was reunited with the only other one of his race. The car stopped in front of a building and the Speedwagon foundation driver opened the door for the two pillars to get out. Santana stepped out into the light of day cautiously. The cloak he wore covered him from the sun that burned bright overhead. The plum haired pillar girl stood beside him and looked up at him before they went into the Hotel to check in.

The staff of the hotel was expecting him. They gave him the key to his room and he went to find it. It just so happened to be next to Kakyoin's. The red haired man saw the pillar and greeted him warmly, "Hello. Looks like we're neighbors. I hope you don't mind." "I prefer you over Jojo.," Santana replied. Kakyoin was a little puzzled by this. "He's talking about Joseph. It's funny, all of the Joestar line has been called Jojo.," the little girl said to the redhead man. Kakyoin looked down and smiled at the child, "I did not see you there." The plum haired girl pinched his cheeks and pulled at them, his skin was not as stretchy and soft as hers was. The face he was making as she pulled his cheeks was funny though.
She smiled at the funny face and let go of the pinkened cheeks. "You're silly, Noriaki.," the child smiled. "Oh really, I thought you were the silly one?," the violet eyed man replied with a smile and stood, "My room is right here, Santana, You can talk to me if you want. It is wonderful to have met you." Kakyoin returned to his room with that. The pillar used the key to open the room he was going to be staying in. It was a large room with large windows that have all been covered with the special film. Santana placed his suitcase onto one of the couches and looked around. He was observing his new habitat.

Scarlet eyes ran over the room, taking in every detail and crevice. "It resembles your father's room slightly.," the vermillion haired pillar spoke and took off the cloak that covered his skin. (Y/n) giggled, "It does, it does. So big and with so many decorations." The small child climbed up onto the bed to test it out, bouncing on the sheets. It was a very soft bed, much better than the stony sleep they were used to. "Santana! Try this out, it is much better than the one daddy had!," the tiny girl laughed. The pillar man pressed down on the bed's soft mattress. It did seem much much softer than the ones that he and the others had before. It was even better than the ones that his master had when he was a boy.
Santana fell onto the soft bed, "Feels good." His eyes could barely stay open as he crawled completely onto the bed. (Y/n) watched him fall asleep. His breathing slowed and his face relaxed. He looked peaceful and happy. The small pillar was glad that he was happy. She could sense that he was still aware of his surroundings, probably on guard to protect himself and her. It was noon. She still had time before they could walk freely around. He needed sleep, she could do for a nap. She curled up against his massive muscular body to have some rest as well.

Night fell and Santana began to stir from his slumber, he rose from the bed and looked to the small body next to his. "(Y/n). The sun has set. It is time for us to go.," the pillar man spoke and placed his hand carefully on the tiny child's back. Her red eyes opened and looked up to his scarlet ones. The child rubbed her eyes and yawned. She rolled and jumped off the side of the bed before jumping onto Santana's shoulder. The pillar man picked up the keys to his room and put on his shoes before exiting the room. The vermillion haired male locked the door and began to walk to the front to leave when he passed Kakyoin and Jotaro. Jotaro seemed to have an annoyed expression.
The two saw Santana and the small girl. "Did you two take a nap?," Kakyoin asked with a chuckle. "Yes. I needed it.," the pillar replied, "But now, I am going to go look around the city without the distraction of humans around." "Don't cause any trouble.," Jotaro stated, "This city has seen enough of that with the stand users." "I'll keep him out of trouble.," the plum haired girl grinned, "Have a good night."

(Y/n) tapped the head of her guard and he walked away after wishing the two a good night. He two saw the last remnants of sunlight disappear over the horizon after they left the safety of the hotel. Santana did not have protective gear on as he no longer needed it, the cool night air felt good on his skin. The pillar man looked to the moon in the sky, he knew they would have light. The scarlet eyed man walked away from the hotel and into the city to explore as his tiny master sat on his shoulder. The business district was easy to navigate thanks to the lack of humans and the map posted on the street signs. Several stores were still open, mostly 24/7 convenience stores.
Santana allowed the plum haired child on his shoulder to get off once he saw it was safe. (Y/n) looked around and up to Santana, "Where do you want to go?" "Anywhere. I want to see this city that you like so much.," Santana said, "Although..." He walked up to the window of the convenience store and looked in, "What is this? I am curious." "It's a convenience store. It has some medicines, food and supplies in it.," the little girl said, "Want to go in and look around? I have been craving some of the snacks that they have in stock." The vermillion haired man followed the little girl into the store. The cashier noticed them immediately, Santana mostly until she saw the little girl showing the big man the store. A little girl that had come in before.
The woman behind the register watched the intimidating but handsome man listen to the little girl's words that she could not understand, the two had to have been speaking a foreign language.

"What are these?," Santana asked and motioned to some food that was in the display case, "They smell edible." "They are, those are the types of food people here in Japan eat. There is some different flavors and types of ramen. That is an Onigiri. Those over there are natto.," the little girl explained to the vermillion haired man who had picked up an Onigiri from the cooler shelf. He was looking at the packaging to figure out how to read this language as the little girl was giggling at the face he was making, "What does this say?" "That one says that it is a salmon roe filled Onigiri.," the child giggled, "Roe are eggs, so those are salmon eggs." Santana looked at the packaged Onigiri in his hand. His scarlet eyes were questioning.
"Does it taste like vampires?," the Pillar man asked and got a laugh from the little girl. "No. But can you handle spicy food?," the child inquired. The pillar man shrugged. The little girl sniffed the air and picked up another Onigiri, "This one smells like Omurice. Nice, I'll get it." "Are we trying human food?," Santana questioned. The little girl smiled up to him and nodded, "It'll be fine. We can just absorb it all like we usually do, but I like to eat it like a human would so I can taste the flavor." The two kept looking at the food and got a food things to try. It would at least alleviate their hunger so they would not try to eat humans.

(Y/n) went to the cashier with the snacks and paid. The two left after wishing the terrified a good night. The pillars left to go explore more as they ate the snacks they purchased. Santana found the taste very different from what he was used to. The flavor was not terrible though. He understood now why his master liked human wine. Humans made pretty good food. The vermillion haired pillar's scarlet eyes looked to the sky, the moon shone overhead. The plum haired pillar girl stopped walking near an alleyway. Her red eyes looked to the alley. Someone was calling her name again. She felt Santana's large hand nudge her softly. She reached up and held his hand, she sensed he was looking down the alley as well.
"Is there something you sense there?," Santana asked. The red eyed little girl looked up at him, "I always hear someone calling for me from over there. But, I am too unsure to go. Something feels off about that area." "Then we Shall not go there.," the man said and held her hand as they walked together, "How about we go see this Josuke? Joseph was wondering about him when were riding together on the boat."

"Josuke is a little like his father when Joseph was his age. But I think he is a lot more behaved than Joseph.," the little pillar child chuckled. Santana let her take the lead and they walked together to the residential area. They passed a large house where Santana stopped in front of to look at, "This is the home of that Okuyasu Boy." "It is. He lives there with his father.," the little girl explained, "Josuke's house is over here. Although houses are not as big as the places we are used to, they still are very comfortable." "You would know.," Santana said as he followed the child.
He followed her up to the house. She knocked on the door and waited. No answer. It was not that late. Josuke had to be playing video games again. The little girl walked to look into the window and saw that he was indeed playing his video game. The little girl sighed and called her stand out to go into the house and knock one of the books on the shelf over. The sudden sound scared Josuke and he lost his game. The little girl tapped on the window until the teen looked at her with his Blue violet eyes. She had his attention now, she waved at him and he walked out of the room.

The front door opened and Josuke was face to neck with Santana. The British-Japanese teen looked up to the scarlet eyes of the pillar man, Josuke backed up. "Whoah.," The teen was able to choke out. "Josuke!," (y/n)'s voice made him look down to the familiar and friendly face of the child that he knew and gained a caring relationship with. He knelt down to her height to "Josuke, Santana and I are exploring Morioh.," the child explained, "He wanted to see you after hearing Joseph talk about you." The British-Japanese teen looked up to the Pillar man who was staring down with a quiet yet judgemental gaze. Josuke stood up and gave Santana a smile, "Hi there. Wow, (y/n) was right. You do have features that people would kill for. I bet you would look pretty good if you smiled."
Santana huffed, "You sound exactly like your father did when we met." The two had a tense energy between each other before Santana cracked a small smile. This made Josuke relax a little before he heard his mother yell at him, "Josuke! What are you doing, having the door open so late at night?!" "Tomoko!," (y/n) called the woman and ran between the legs of the teen in front of her. The woman saw the little girl, "And where were you?" Her brown eyes looked to the door and saw Santana standing there, she saw his horns that grew out of his hair. "Josuke, who is this?", Tomoko asked her son.

Josuke started to speak before Santana stepped forward to introduce himself once he understood the language, "My name is Santana. I am lady (y/n)'s guard. I was tasked to look after her by her father, Lord Kars." "Kars?," Tomoko asked and looked down at the girl, "That is her biological father's name then." (Y/n) nodded, "Joseph adopted me after daddy and my uncle were defeated years ago." "It is nice to meet you, Santana, I am Tomoko. Did you recently arrive in Japan? Please come in.," Tomoko welcomed the man in, "Would you like something to drink?"
Josuke stepped aside to allow Santana in, the pillar man had to duck down so his head would not hit the top of the door. "No thank you, I am fine. I just arrived this afternoon.," Santana answered, "This... House. It is nice. Smaller than what I am used to. But comfortable." (Y/n) looked up at her guard and held his hand as he followed Josuke to a place he could sit down. Tomoko was out of earshot when the little girl turned to her guard, "Tomoko does not know that we aren't human. We have to keep the illusion that we are humans with sun aversion and skull growths." "What happened to your pride, lady (y/n)?," Santana asked. "I still have it. But it would be better to hide instead of showing ourselves. Many humans are just not ready to know that our species once existed."

Santana made a face that said he did not like this, lying about who they really were. "Santana, we can give them a little bit of the truth.," the girl said, "But we have to keep the fact we are not human a secret. Humans react badly to those they perceive as a possible threat. You remember what happened the night I was born." Her small hands were on his cheeks as she told this and she pressed her forehead against his. The vermillion haired man understood after that explanation. Tomoko came back to see her guests as they let each other go. She saw that their foreheads were pressed together. She luckily did not hear them or understand the language they were using.
Josuke had watched the two the whole time. Santana let his small master sit on his shoulder as he was on a couch. "How are you enjoying Japan so far, Santana?," Tomoko asked. The vermillion haired man looked to Tomoko with his scarlet eyes, "It is very different from where I am from, but Morioh is peaceful. I kind of like it. Not as annoying as Mexico." "Are you from Mexico?," Tomoko inquired. "I don't know. I do know I am from the Americas. I don't know if it is north or central America.," Santana answered, "I am from the same area Lord Kars was from, but we moved around much. Lady (y/n) was born in Rome after her mother and father met there."

Tomoko and Santana spoke to each other about different topics, dancing around the real topic that the woman wanted to ask. That is until she finally asked. "So, (y/n)'s father, Kars?," the woman inquired, "You keep calling him 'Lord Kars'. Would it be too much to ask for details?" "Lord Kars was my master. He was the leader of the last of our clan. The rest of our society had died. He, Esidisi, Wamuu and I were the only ones left. Lord Kars was able to save Wamuu and I when the massacre happened.," Santana explained, "We were children at the time. We traveled around and tried to find a place to belong. Kars met lady (y/n)'s mother and we gained a fifth member of our group. Her mother was killed by angry locals who did not agree with the union of Kars and Ivory, her mother."
Tomoko listened to the man speak and looked up to the little girl on the man's shoulder, the plum haired child was hugging the long hair of the muscular horned man. Both of them had horns. "The others?," Tomoko asked. "Dead.," Santana answered, "I was knocked out of comission for a while before I reunited with lady (y/n)." Tomoko nodded. "Thank you, for looking after (y/n).," the pillar man thanked the woman, "You have my gratitude." The scarlet eyed man gave a bow to the woman and the teen.

After talking for a while more, Santana and the little pillar left. They said goodbye to the family to continue their walk. They passed Okuyasu's house again and walked at the teen and his father as the two were looking out the window. The pillars continued on their walk, passing houses and looking at the sky until the feeling of being watched by the creepy man in the big white house made the little girl stop again. Green eyes glared down at the child and her guard. (Y/n) gripped Santana's hand tighter as the pillar man's eyes returned the sharp and dangerous glare to the one looking at them.
The vermillion haired man placed the girl in his arms and got her away from the house. He did not like it from how the girl was reacting to it. His scarlet eyes continued to glare as he walked away. "(Y/n). This town has dangers in it, correct? I want you to avoid those dangers.," the man said, "Stay near me or Josuke. I'll trust him to help protect you." The red eyed child smiled and hugged his neck, her small horns rubbed against Santana's cheek. "I will, Santana.," the little girl said as he continued to walk through the town with her in his arms.

They explored, trained, talked and walked together that night. They returned to the Grand Morioh hotel in the morning before the sun rose. It was time for Santana to hide and let the little girl go out to spend time with her humans. He would trust the humans to help him keep the girl safe. The bed in his room was a welcome sight. He would need to have a full rest instead of the nap he had when he first arrived. Time for real and unhindered rest.
Santana laid on the bed and went to sleep, curled up and dreaming of the past memories that he loved so much. Dreaming of the things he lost and what he gained. (Y/n) was caught in his arms, but she did not mind. He needed sleep. She would just wait until his grip loosened so she could escape from his warm and comfortable embrace

Although. Sleep was good too.
